Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the LG G3 is now official and available for download

1 January, 2016 LG

Poland leads the way for LG G3 smartphones around the world as it is the first country to officially get the much awaited Android Marshmallow update for the G3. According to our reports, the update started to roll out for unlocked LG G3s in Poland on the 30th of December and is thought by many to be more of a soak test.

Interestingly enough, it is not an over the air update like most updates are nowadays. It can only be installed by connecting the smartphone with a PC via LG PC suit and we are not sure if or when an OTA update would be available. Although the aged LG G3 will not be able to take advantage of certain unique Marshmallow features like better support for USB Type-C ports and finger print scanners, reports indicate a much faster and smoother user experience after the update.

The news was anticipated by smartphone enthusiasts because the LG G4 had also received its Android 6.0 updates in Poland first. If LG follows the same trend as it did with the G4, then South Korea is next in line. The good news is the fact that irrespective of the country that you live in, your G3 will get updated to Marshmallow as well. The date on which it will arrive however, is difficult to predict.
