Galaxy S5 Neo Will Get Android Nougat and Soon

19 July, 2017 Samsung Updates

We have some good news for fans of the old Galaxy S5 Neo, because the two year old device is on the verge of being upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat, much to the surprise of many. The Galaxy S5 didn't make the cut, but that's to be expected, given that it's even older by a year than the Galaxy S5 Neo!

First, it was spotted on GFXBench running on the Nougat firmware in June and now it has just been seen on Wi-Fi Alliance; the ultimate certification site when it comes to getting leaked news about upcoming firmware updates and smartphones. Although none of the two sightings gives us any indication about the possible release date of the ROM, it is being estimated that the update should start reaching the Galaxy S5 Neo by the end of July or early August.

It's always good to see Sammy giving some love to its older handsets so this is good news indeed. Admittedly, Android Nougat itself is about a year old now, but it's still better to receive the update late than to be stuck on Android Marshmallow forever.

Head over to our firmware section to find all the latest available updates for your Samsung smartphones and tablets.
