There were reports last days that Android 2.1 may come sooner than expected for HTC Hero. We didn't knew what "soon" meant, but now we can even see the update coming. The HTC Hero will get Android 2.1 update until the end of June. That's way sooner that we would have expected. As a tip, back-up all your data, right as you should do at any kind of update, because this new version will clean all the data that are not on your SD card. There are not anymore informations, we don't know what Android 2.1 will come with for the Hero version, but developments are expected soon.

The HTC Hero is the third smartphone manufactured by HTC using Android as operating system. It has a 320x480 screen, 3.2 inch HVGA LCD, 5.0 MP camera with autofocus, multi-touch capacitive touchscreen display, volume controls, ambient light sensors and digital compass. Is powered up by a 528MHz Qualcomm processor, packs 288MB RAM and 512 MB ROM. The flash memory is 256MB and the phone can carry up until 32GB on the microSD slot. There is also Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and aGPS.
