Will the iPhone 8 support dual-SIM?

14 December, 2016 Apple

Anybody who knows Apple and the way they build their stuff may initially laugh the idea off, but there's actually quite a solid reason as to why some reports are indicating that the next iPhone may indeed support two SIM cards. Apple has just secured USPTO Patent No. 9,521,563, which clearly indicates that Apple is definitely considering dual-SIM capabilities for its future iPhones. The official statement regarding the patent is as follows.

"System, apparatus, and method for controlling access to multiple antennas in mobile devices having multiple SIMs."

Keep in mind that this does not in any way confirms a dual-SIM slot for the iPhone 7, but yes, it does mean that the Cupertino giant is considering it. Perhaps, they are doing it to support multiple generations of SIM cards on one handset. By the way, in case you are wondering if one of those SIM card slots is going to be a hybrid micro-SD card slot, let us tell you that it isn't even a possibility by any stretch of the imagination! Apple just doesn't do expandable storage as that would mess up their "business model of simplicity."
