iPhone 4G to have a 640x960px resolution?

iPhone 4G

There's not anything sure yet, as Apple used us with, but it seems leaks show the resolution of the new iPhone will be 640x960. Another iPhone was found in Czech Republic, and bloggers in the former Soviet country talked about it a lot. Rumors say it is going to be a HVGA 640x960, up from 320x480. That a big difference, isn't it?

Reports are saying that the new iPhone will use the same LCD IPS matrix as the iPads, so it's not going to be an AMOLED in this version. The impact on image quality is big. The former iPhone had 160ppi pixel density, while the 4G will have a double amount, 320ppi. To compare with other models, Nexus One has 252ppi and the Motorola Droid/Milestone has 265.

With such a high resolution screen, it seems the iPhone 4G will need a lot under the hood to run it. The rumors of the 1GHz iPad SoC powering it up seems not just credible or incredible, but also normal if this is the case.
