Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 will pass Android 1.6 and Android 2.1 and going straight to Android 2.2 instead.
According to a spokesperson at Sony Ericsson's Asia launch of its new smartphones, the Android-based Xperia phones may get updated to Android 2.2 from their current Android 1.6 software in the second half of the year.
The phones in question are the same ones CNET Asia saw at the recent Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona and include the X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro. Earlier this year, the company had confirmed that the devices will enjoy an upgrade to a newer version of Android. We assumed this would be version 2.1 but were informed today that it "will be an Eclair variant, so it could be 2.1 or even 2.2", according to the spokesperson.

We just spotted this YouTube video, filmed by Sergey Kuzmin, of the recently announced Sony Ericsson Aspen. The Aspen runs Windows Mobile 6.5.3, a more finger-friendly version of the Microsoft operating system. As we mentioned in an earlier post the Aspen boasts HSDPA (3.5G), Wi-Fi, a full Qwerty keypad and touchscreen, and a 3.5mm headphone jack, among other features.
It looks bigger than we thought it would be but it still looks good and Windows Mobile 6.5.3 seems to run pretty smoothly on it. We'll hopefully have more info for you when we go to MWC in a few weeks.

In case you don't know much of the Xperia X10. The X10 features Android 1.6, a 4 inch WVGA touchscreen display, HSPA, GPS, Wi-Fi, 8MP autofocus camera, and a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
Pretty amazing phone to say the least, no price were given yet. Just have to wait and see.

Sony Ericsson Robyn was just leaked earlier today, and it's the next upcoming Android phone from Sony Ericsson. It's a very small handset with a design similar to the X10. My guess is that it's targeting the lower end of the market than the Xperia X10.
It seems it'll be available in three or four different colour variants, as you can see from the different back colours. Specifications include a touch screen, 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, 3.5 mm audio jack, USB connector, HSPA, WLAN.

Price at almost $760, this isn't the most expensive handset out there, but it's pretty darn expensive.
