Oracle vs. Google

Google and Oracle still fighting in court over Java patents and trademarks, Android was dragged into the matter because Google wants to include certain Android expenses as copyright damage and Oracle feels that it should not be allowed to do so.

Google does not publicly report Android's financial information, Judge William Alsup, who is presiding over the case, sealed an internal Google document that details Android's 2010 profit and loss summery.

Even though Android costs approximately $97.7 million from Google's revenue in 2010, it managed to lose money in every single quarter of 2010. "That adds up to a big loss for the whole year," Alsup said.

Google nexus

Last year, a frequent leaker of all things Nexus tweeted that there would be a version with a slide out keyboard but this wasn't implemented on the Galaxy Nexus models, but according to some fast-track patents that Google filed with the USPTO in January, a Nexus slider is something google is still working on, it's similar to the Xperia play but it have a QWERTY keyboard instead of the play station joystick. Here is a photo of the device sketching leaked from google patent file.

A series of three patents were field, which listed lead Android developer Andy Rubin as the main inventor. Each showed new internal mechanisms that appear to allow for a slider that is thinner, and has less overlap when opened, then other devices. The upshot would be a larger physical keyboard without a bulkier phone. The mechanisms (pictured below) include a "spring and stabilizing link" slider, a "serpentine spring styled" slider, and an innovative looking "scissor-hinge" slider.

Cloud Storage

Google Also will give all the Drive users a Free 5GB of Cloud Storage, but you can get More Storage, Google will let you choose to upgrade to 25GB for $2.49/month, 100GB for $4.99/month or even 1TB for $49.99/month. What Google Drive Can do ?

  • Create and collaborate - Google Docs is built right into Google Drive, so you can work with others in real time on documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Once you choose to share content with others, you can add and reply to comments on anything (PDF, image, video file, etc.) and receive notifications when other people comment on shared items.
  • Store everything safely and access it anywhere - especially while on the go. All your stuff is there. You can access your stuff from anywhere-on the web, in your home, at the office, while running errands and from all of your devices. You can install Drive on your Mac or PC and can download the Drive app to your Android phone or tablet (Link Below). Google is also working hard on a Drive app for your iOS devices. And regardless of platform, blind users can access Drive with a screen reader.
  • Search everything - Search by keyword and filter by file type, owner and more. Drive can even recognize text in scanned documents using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology. Let's say you upload a scanned image of an old newspaper clipping. You can search for a word from the text of the actual article. We also use image recognition so that if you drag and drop photos from your Grand Canyon trip into Drive, you can later search for [grand canyon] and photos of its gorges should pop up. This technology is still in its early stages, and we expect it to get better over time.

"Your Google Drive is Not Ready Yet!"

Here is a Workaround

1- Go to the Google Play Store on your Android Device and download the app.It will automatically log you in, and again give you the same screen stating that your google Drive is not ready yet.

2- Switch screens internally in the app (Switch to another account if you have more than one, or go into the settings of the app) and then press the back button to go back to the main Drive screen. you can also exit the app and open it again.

3- You will notice that once you go back to the app, the message is gone and you have full access to your Google Drive on your Android Device. This workaround gives you access on your phone
ONLY, The Google Drive website will still not be available until its ready for you.

Google Drive

Google Drive is reported to be coming out next week. Today's Android Developers Hangout showcased an app with sharing features, giving us a quick look at the options on the developer's Galaxy Nexus. You can clearly see the leaked triangular logo next to a word "Drive" on the sharing Menu (Photo Above), Also there is a video below much more clear than this photo.

If this actually is a functional version of Drive, it certainly does not prove the service is coming to the rest of us any time soon. However, it does mean that at least Google Android developers have a version that is more than vaporware, and makes the many rumors about an upcoming launch seem a little more credible.

Google Drive

The previously rumored Google cloud storage service "Google Drive" is now official and it's launching Next week to all google users, Keep your eyes on out Google+ Page HERE to be the first to get your Google Drive account.

Enable Google Drive

It is no surprise that it will roll out for free. As Google is planning to start-up this new service with 5 GB of Free storage to all its users. Of course you can buy more, but 5GB Free is better than Dropbox's 2 GB that is included with every account and its not easy to get more free space on Dropbox, unless you are an HTC user.

Google Drive beta

Just as Dropbox, Drive will be available for both PC and Mac users and have a web interface, like Dropbox, plus a close integration with Docs and Gmail. Naturally, Android and iOS apps will be available at launch as well, which is firmly believed to happen some time next week.

Googol Self-driving Car

Google self-driving car has fascinated our minds with its technological promise since being introduced in 2010. But yesterday, the self-driving car touched our hearts.

Google posted a video of the self-driving car taking a legally blind man for a spin, showing one of the possibilities and benefits that could come from the technology.

"Where this would change my life is to give me the independence and the flexibility to go to the places I both want to go and need to go when I need to do those things," Steve Mahan says in the video.

Google Car

The self-driving car takes Mahan to Taco Bell for a quick meal and a dry cleaner to pick up his clothes.

"Look, Ma, no hands," Mahan says. "No hands, no feet."

Google said the drive took place on a carefully programmed route and showed one of the possibilities that self-driving cars could offer.

"There is much left to design and test, but we have now safely completed more than 200,000 miles of computer-led driving, gathering great experiences and an overwhelming number of enthusiastic supporters," Google said in the post.

Google+ New Design

Google wants to make you use its own social network Google Plus and it is now bringing a completely overhauled user interface, with panels you can drag and drop, and customize to your liking, to make you like it.

And this redesign gives some good reasons to look into Google+: it is easier to share with your circles and the Hangouts video calling platform has been improved.

The biggest change you would notice from the first sight is the "dynamic ribbon" on the left. Apps you do not access much are hidden under the new "More" section. Galleries now support bigger photos and there is more space for videos too, contributing to a better viewing experience.

Google+ Design Wasted Space

Some Google+ users complain about the new desing, They say its a Waste of Space... alot and alot of space. This waste will lead to smaller posts and smaller images on the news stream of you profile and pages on Google+.
