The Father

This Man is not Crazy, He is just Pissed OFF!

If you are a teenager, you better be careful what you post on Facebook. Especially, If you have a father who works in IT. But there is that one quirk about teenagers no matter what common sense says, they think they know better. That is, until they are taught a lesson they can never forget. Apparently this dad thought a bullet might teach that lesson. Better yet, nine bullets. He shot his daughter's computer after finding a disparaging message on her Facebook wall.

Laptop being shoot

And he documented it all on video so he could post it on YouTube for all to see. And so far it has received nearly 2.9 million views. In the video, the angry dad reveals he saw a hidden wall post on her daughter Facebook account while he was upgrading her computer. "Since you want to hide it from everyone, I am going to share it with everybody," the dad, Tommy Jordan, said. He then goes on to read her tirade about how she dislikes her chores and all the other stuff most teenagers have to deal with.

FB Mobile App

Now that Facebook has filed for an IPO, we knew it might lead to some changes for the world largest social network. Well, a new report from the Financial Times reports that we could start to see some advertising on its mobile products in the coming weeks.

FB Tablet App

The report suggests that advertising on mobile Facebook will be different than on the web, as it will primarily concentrate on promotional "featured stories" within your news feed. These should be clearly identified but you just know that people are going to freak out whenever Facebook does anything. While I don't like more ads in my life, I understand why this has to happen.

Facebook listed mobile as one of its biggest risks because it currently does not generate any significant revenue from its apps or mobile web products, VentureBeat points out. This has all been by design, as Facebook was looking for scale on the mobile side before generating money. It has done quite well on that front, as it currently has more than 425 million mobile users.

Facebook Servers Caching Photos

I think many people understand today that the photos they put on Facebook and other social networking sites can be used against them by employers when searching for a new job. I am sure a lot of people posting pictures to Facebook have thought better of it after a few hours, days, or weeks and then went back and deleted the photo. The catch is that the photo may be deleted from your profile and as it turns out, often the photos are still the Facebook servers and accessible.

Facebook

According to ArsTechnica, three years after photos were deleted from some Facebook accounts the photos are still accessible via direct links it has access to. All a person needs to be an access the photos you deleted in most cases is the direct link to the photo, and you can still see it. ArsTechnica reports that it started following this back in 2009 and that some of the links to deleted photos they found still accessible back in 2009 are still accessible today despite being deleted from the user account.

Facebook

Facebook filled for IPO yesterday. We are not going to bore you with the technical information about it, as those are mostly of interest to banks and their corporate clients at this point, but the documents submitted mention a few quite interesting facts about the social network.

Obviously, the network still has not reached saturation point as its user base keeps growing. By the end of last year Facebook had 845 million users, who formed 100 billion friendships, uploaded 250 million photos per day and generated 2.7 billion daily likes.

Twitter Brand Pages

This week twitter started a larger rollout of its enhance brand pages. We first caught wind of these new brand pages back in early December 2011 and the first page we saw was from Pepsi. Enhance brand pages allow different companies, brands, organizations, and others to set up twitter pages that more closely reflect the corporate personality and color schemes of the businesses.

Yesterday, several new brand pages rolled out on twitter, including pages for NBC news, Volkswagen, the Huffington Post, and several others.
