CES 2012

Fujitsu

Fujitsu did not have much to display at the CES 2012. They had only ONE really special device to show, a quad-core Android smartphone running on the latest Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3 (photo above).

The phone currently is just a prototype and the specifications could change before it is announced officially at the MWC this year but it seems mighty impressive as it is. For starters it will run on the quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, which will take care of all your gaming needs.

This prototype device had a 4.6-inch 720p HD display and a 13.1 MP camera capable of ISO 25,600 sensitivity. The phone will launch duting this year with Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3 out of the box.

3D Tech

Fujitsu has developed a new system that allows any standard mobile phone cameras to take 3D pictures and videos too.

It demonstrated the system at one of its Tokyo offices. The company has produced a small attachment which fits over a mobile camera lens. The attachment uses a series of small mirrors to split an image or video recording into two parts. It then uploads this data to a server, which combines the two parts into a single 3D picture or video.

Teruyuki Sato, Researcher, Fujitsu Laboratories "The heavy processing is carried out in the cloud. This means that there is no need for dedicated software or chip hardware in the smartphone. This technology allows for capturing 3D images using everyday smartphones or feature phones."

The 3D movies work best with active viewing glasses. 3D photographs can be viewed with standard 3D glasses. The images can also be viewed on special devices, such as this 3D digital photo frame.  This Technology will be available by the end of this year.

Fujitsu promised to reveal a smartphone flagship for Mobile World Congress next week, There is reportedly a 4.6-inch Tegra 3 Quad-core Android Device waiting. The new Fujitsu will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on this Nvidia processor, as well as a Good 13.1MP camera.

The unnamed Fujitsu flagship will also have biometric security, with a fingerprint scanner to prevent unofficial access to the handset and it is a useful addition to the Android 4.0 Face Unlock system.

Also, It is good to mention that this phone will be waterproof and dustproof, following the example of many Japanese handsets by offering a greater degree of ruggedness than most smartphones deliver
