On Tuesday LG went and got all official, confirming that it will be showing off "the world's first full 3D smartphone" at Mobile World Congress.

nd now, it has released this (very over the top) teaser video to the world, which seems to show off the LG Optimus 3D in all of its glory.....or does it?

Despite the video claiming that the phone will surprise people as it is "an entirely new level of dual-core smartphone" and that it is "the world's first dual-core multi-channel" phone, it doesn't quite match up with Tuesday's press release which read:

LG is back in the game with its groundbreaking smartphones. What seemed to reside only as ideas have all come true - you've witnessed it with the world's first dual-core smartphone, LG Optimus 2X. And now... we are getting geared up for another challenge with a new technology. Ideas into reality - coming soon to you.

Last week, we came upon that LG was reportedly prepping a phone with a 3D display to be unveiled during their MWC event on February 14, exciting indeed.

Phandroid got a tipster that claims this is the 3G Android phone by LG, because it's neither the Optimus 2X and the Optimus Black, so it's gotta be the LG Optimus 3D.

We're not 100% sure the above is the Optimus 3D but that's our guess. We've already officially seen the Optimus 2X and the Optimus Black and the above picture is neither of them. Unfortunately, there is also no way of telling whether the above display is 3D from looking at the picture. There are, however, a few things we do know:

From Phandroid

* Our tipster tells us the screen is definitely larger than 4 inches although they were unsure of an exact size. Looks like 4.3-inches to me, and in terms of delivering a visual 3D experience that wows, this sounds about right

* It has a Dual Core Processor & Multi-channel RAM - this is definitely a high-end phone on par (or better) than the Optimus 2X. With a "new dimension" event coming up and the above phone the only leaked image of an unannounced LG Android, our bets are on the Optimus 3D. And oh yeah, we're really diggin' the dual core.

* You can see a front-facing camera on the top right

LG has an invitation sent to the international press for a press conference at the Mobile World Congress. De titel van de uitnodiging spreekt boekdelen; "Op naar de nieuwe dimensie". The title of the invitation speaks volumes, "On to the new dimensions LG appears to clearly focus on 3D, since its a new dimension can be seen.

The chance seems likely that LG will soon, probably next month at the Mobile World Congress, a 3D-called smartphone will announce the Optimus 3D. This 3D technology was already in the first tablet of LG are now in its details were leaked . The smartphone is expected to 3D images and videos can record and play without any glasses. LG had previously been a window to see who managed to bring 3D television on a 7-inch screen.

We certainly looking for more detail on this, but now we will probably need to wait a week or so until the Mobile World Congress goes in session.

If you think LG was out of the android game, you would be wrong, LG has just put out a press release claiming they have sold more than 1 million LG Optimus One Android Smartphone so far.  Only 40 days after launch.

See full press release below

SEOUL, Nov. 16, 2010 - LG Electronics (LG) today announced that worldwide sales of its Optimus One smartphone have hit one million units just 40 days after the phone's initial launch. Now available in most of Europe, Asia-Pacific countries and the USA* , the Optimus One is the fastest selling mobile handset in the company's history.

Powered by the Android 2.2 "Froyo" OS and optimized for Google Mobile Services, the LG Optimus One has been a big hit with first-time smartphone buyers looking for high performance and useful applications in a handset priced very competitively to feature phones.

"The versatile, powerful LG Optimus One was designed to provide an easy transition into the world of smartphones and as these numbers demonstrate, there is obviously a strong demand for this type of device," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. "Optimus One seems to be what many customers were waiting for, proving that smartphones aren't just for early adopters anymore."

One of the first smartphones to launch with Google's latest operating system, the Optimus One allows for up to three times faster internet browsing, web-page loading, and multi-tasking. The Optimus One also incorporates a unique LG-designed user-interface (UI) along with a camera that features face tracking and smile shot, a 3.2" wide HVGA screen and a long-lasting 1500mAh capacity battery.

Announced by LG, the Optimus Chic is a handset targeted at young consumers, while the Optimus One is an entry-level device. The features of LG Optimus Chic and Optimus One have not been unveiled but looks like they will be on Android OS plateform., see above picture for same examples.  Following is the press release of the announcement:

LG Electronics (LG) today unveiled its upcoming LG Optimus Series, a line-up of innovative smart devices featuring the latest in mobile technology that will spearhead the company's newest campaign to highlight LG's ability to simplify consumers' information-dominated lives.

LG Optimus, meaning 'best' in Latin, will be comprised of devices running on a range of operating systems as well as Android Tablet PCs. By offering a variety of choice in operating systems and incorporating smart technologies, LG prioritises consumer choice as a key strategy for expanding its footprint in the mobile industry. The smartphones and tablet devices range from entry to premium level, with various features to meet the diverse needs of all customers. As part of its aggressive strategy to grow its share of the global smartphone market, LG will be introducing approximately 10 new smart devices worldwide in the second half of this year under the LG Optimus label.

"The LG Optimus Series is aimed at challenging the notion that one device can meet the needs of many," said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. "At LG, we believe in providing people with many different choices because our customers are not all alike. We want to provide devices that suit all needs and simplify people's lives."

The LG Optimus Series is the result of extensive consumer research and development that delved into the way people gather information in today's digital age. According to a consumer survey conducted by LG, ease of finding information is the top motivator in considering a smartphone purchase. The research also looked into what consumers liked and disliked about some of today's most popular communications devices. Not surprisingly, user friendliness and fast response time were high on consumers' lists.

The two android-powered smartphones in the pipeline -- LG Optimus One with Google and LG Optimus Chic -- incorporate the speedy Android Platform 2.2 (Froyo).

LG Optimus One with Google offers the latest in Google mobile features and connects seamlessly to the world. Its ability to connect effortlessly to Google's Android Market delivers an unfiltered and genuine smartphone user experience. Also, a convenient user interface and diverse multimedia options ensure a mobile environment that makes this device one of the easiest to use on the market.

The LG Optimus Chic caters to fashion aficionados with its tasteful design incorporating soft and smooth lines. The handset's sleek curves set a new standard for smartphone design, challenging the perception that advanced Android devices need to appeal to a hardcore tech crowd to gain widespread acceptance.

Beyond smartphones, LG will be introducing its first tablet device later this year. Running on the Android Platform, LG's tablet will deliver vastly superior performance than other similar devices currently on the market while still managing to be thinner and lighter than competing devices.
