Sony Ericsson introduced it's rolling out following sets of updates for the XPERIA X10 that includes the Xperia X10 Mini, and the XPERIA X8. The XPERIA X10 update is rolling out slowing, however the X8 update shall be in a week or so. You may get your X10 update either via the Sony Ericsson PC Companion or over-the-air immediately on the phone.

The most important thing about the update is that the X10 users will now enjoy the Pinch-to-zoom feature in Google Maps and the Internet browser. Unfortunately, there's now word on the situation with the Gallery.

Here are some other improvements that the update brings to the XPERIA X10 family and the XPERIA X8:

* The Moxier Active Sync software is now updated, including a new widget for email, calendar and tasks

* There's an option for video trimming

* A minor change in Mediascape allows you to access the "Now Playing" screen from the top right corner.

* Automatic transcoding of the high-quality videos to MMS size.

Thanks GSMarena for this update news.

A blog from Sony Ericssion describes his personal experiences with the Xperia Arc, after utilizing the Xperia arc for 1 week or so now and simply share a few of my ideas of the design in a video. Also included some of what the Dwelling Screen look like with the changes we've performed to the media interface etc.

Please also keep in mind that the software program I have in the phone continues to be at a very early stage so there might be changes made earlier than launch.

* The CPU and GPU specs are: MSM8255 at 1 GHz with Adreno 205.

* The music player does have an equalizer, my current software has 10 different genre based presets.

* It does not have a front facing camera.

* Mediascape is removed in its earlier form and has changed into a customizable widget based "media pane" (as shown briefly in the video)

* It's too early to officially give detailed comments around specific later Android versions for XperiaTM arc during its lifecycle but the changes we have made to our way of working with Android puts us in a good position to make sure that Xperia arc will get later versions in a timely manner.

* I've seen articles around higher numbers than 2.3 being seen in the display of Xperia arc phones - As I have been informed that is due to a misconfiguration in some samples and nothing to get too excited about really, sorry.

* It does have two microphones which will be used for noise suppression during phone calls.

* The camera LED flash is possible to put in four different modes; Auto, Fill-flash, Red-eye Reduction & Off.

* It does have full multi touch support, I just tried a similar multi touch test app as I did in the video on the X10 and at least in that app it accepts 4 simultaneous touch points without any issues with X- and Y-axis or such things. I will try to get confirmation on final specs in regards to multi touch.

* It does support wi-fi up to the 802.11n mode.

Looks like this could be for real, after months of delay of the first android device on Sony Ericsson, the Xperia X10 will finally arrive on AT&T's network at the end of July,  at least that's the source displayed on Engadget website.

The Xperia X10 likely to have Android 2.1 if we do see any new updates til then...  It will be a nice competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S.

Xperia X10 bringing a huge touchscreen display, best in class camera and unique offerings such as Timescape and Mediascape. But, as good as it is, the X10 is not without it's drawbacks, most notably the fact that it's stuck languishing on Android 1.6 and lacks support for multi-touch.

According to mobiles.co.uk, during the launch of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, a rep said that the X10 is due for a very "big" update come second half of 2010, around September maybe. A lot have been speculating that this is Android 2.1 and according to mobiles.co.uk's inside man, multi-touch is also on the table as it seems the limitations is not hardware based.

Speaking at the press event for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 launch, the Sony Ericsson rep responded to criticisms of the outdated OS by stating that a "very big update" was due in Q2 of this year. Though obviously not wanting to give too much away, very big to us would definitely point towards the X10 joining the Android 2.1 crowd.

Sony Ericsson surprised analysts with a strong first quarter, after working for the past year to cut expenses and shift production to higher-end devices.

In a release, Nordberg said, "We are pleased to see the positive impact of both the launch of new products and the business transformation programme improving the company's results." The company started selling its first Android-based device, the Xperia X10, towards the end of the quarter. A better economy might also help Sony Ericsson, which is forecasting a slight growth in global mobile phone shipments in 2010.
