If you are one of those folks who are trying to order HTC Droid Incredible but were told the phone is out of stock.  You now know who to blame, admitted by Verizon Wireless CEO that Samsung Mobile Display unit, which is unable to make Incredible's 3.7" OLED toucscreen display panels enough quantities to satisfy demand.

At a Barclays Capital Global Communications, Media and Technology conference in New York today, Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam said that demand for the HTC Droid Incredible has been better than expected, and that the company is having a difficult time keeping the smartphone in stock. The phone made its debut April 29 and within hours it was sold out via the company's Web store. Customers that order the Incredible today can have it by the middle of June.  It's June 16 to be specific.

The HTC Droid Incredible features Android 2.1 and the newest version of the HTC Sense user interface. It uses Qualcomm's 1GHz Snapdragon processor and is the first phone from Verizon Wireless with an 8-megapixel camera. The phone is priced at $199 with a two-year contract.

To say that XDA-Developer is good would be an understatement.  The HTC Droid Unbelievable Android 2.three update has arrived unofficially. The update arrives because of the fellows over at XDA Developers again, who managed to get a build of Android 2.3 Gingerbread engaged on the smartphone.

For the reason that preliminary launch of Android 2.3 for the Incredible on December 8, the team has managed to create three extra variations with each of them ironing out the bugs to make it run that little bit better.

Model 4 has now been launched and with that it fixes the 8 Megapixel digital camera, fixes Facebook Sync as well as a few other excellent parts. Solely problems that the device has now could be the GPS and the Camcorder which we assume are being worked on now and will probably be fastened in the near future.

It seems that as soon as you buy something it's being phased out in a couple of months. Verizon latest deal with phasing out HTC Droid Eris make us think which model could be next? HTC Droid Incredible possibly? I understand that when Droid X comes out nobody is going to buy 'The Incredible' but this constant change does not foster brand loyalty.

It's just like Verizon has phased the Blackberry Tour now to make room for the new Blackberry Bold, as the Blackberry Tour is labelled as "Out of Stock" on it's website.

Consider the IPhone which has been rolled out for a couple of years now and seems to make incremental changes to itself similar to a high end car like BMW, Mercedes, etc. This fosters stability and very high brand loyalty which is very important in the long run. I wish Verizon would finally get the IPhone and rid itself of the constant musical chair as far as phones are concerned.

Thanks Vitaly

Francis Choung in NYC with his new Droid X. Congratulations Francis!

Yes, Verizon was giving out free Droid X before it even launches, it's the latest development of Verizon's smart marketing, to attract more people to its upcoming release of the new Motorola Droid X android smart phone.

According to the Twitter account set up for the Droid X advertising campaign, there are 21 coupons placed around the country. At various times throughout the day, DroidLanding will provide clues as to a voucher's whereabouts.  The final hint for each Droid X will come in the form of exact GPS coordinates. Once tweeted, players have four hours to hunt down the coupon to claim their prize.

It's a good idea to follow DroidLanding's twttier account if you want to have a chance to win a Droid X.

According to a screenshot provided by Droid-Life, it looks like Verizon had shipped out 170 Droid X devices already, the release date is actually July 15th (Next Thursday).

I know some of you will asked why Verizon did that, was it a mistake, definitely not..  Because all of the new features included on the DX will not be active which we have to assume means the mobile hot spot feature.

An update from Droid-Life, if you are one of the lucky 170 people who received your Droid X early, you can activiate it now.  This is from Verizon's statements.

I came across this video on youtube where this guy named tc9918 bought the Droid X on launch day but experiencing screen issues after 1 hours of using it.  He tried really hard to fix it but it hasn't helped.  So looks like he will be bring it to Verizon for an exchange.

7/15/2010 - I bought this Droid X this morning. I've had it all of about 11 hours, when this began. It appears to be a problem with just the screen or graphics subsytem. Interacting with the device seems bring up the expected screens and apps.

Remediation Attempts: I've tried a hard reboot, removing the battery, killing apps and widgets, turned off bluetooth/wifi/geoloc/etc, changing the wallpapers to no effect.

Sleeping the phone by pressing the top button, and letting it sit for a few minutes seems to quell the issue for a couple minutes. Once it's turned back on, the screen begins to flicker again, and eventually you get the nasty lines back. I will take it to back to verizon tomorrow.

And for the record, it hasn't been dropped or abused. It's been in the protected silicone sleeve that I bought with it since this morning. I also got the leather belt clip, it's been sitting in both.

Hottest phones keeps on coming to Verizon. The Motorola Droid 2 World (previously known as World Edition) is coming soon, that a lot is clear. And as time goes by (and we're presumably near its release date), the leaks solely intensify.

This time a comparability sheet between the Droid 2 International, the iPhone 4, the HTC Droid Incredible and the Samsung Fascinate has leaked. This compares a few of the most essential features of the Droid 2 World with some of the high-end Android gadgets currently on Verizon and the iPhone four - AT&T's leading smartphone on offer.

New exclusive features:

* Remote wipe of device and SD card
* Document editing with QuickOffice
* Inbox filtering
* Invite attendees to meetings using GAL
* Ability to juggle multiple schedules (free/busy lookups)

Some of the other stats listed on this official sheet are as follows:

* 1.2GHz processer (same one we had photos of)
* Dark Sapphire and Winter White color options
* 5MP camera with dual LED flash
* Dual band CDMA and Quad band GSM
* Physical keyboard plus Swype
* 8GB internal memory plus 8GB pre-installed SD card

Doesn't seem that long ago we were all really excited about the Verizon Droid, the first ever android phone to come with Android 2.0, well Droid-Life.com site just release some details that Motorola Droid 2 has hit the Verizon Inventry System.

Don't mistake Motorola Droid 2 for the Motorola Droid Shadow, I know recent news was all about the Droid Shadow, althought it might look like Motorola Droid, it appears to be more like the HTC Evo 4G especially with 4.3 inch LCD screen.

EngadgetMobile also confirmed that the Motorola Droid has a 3.7 inch LCD screen, so it's definitely not the Droid Shadow.  We are hoping to get more info on this device soon, maybe Froyo in the works?

Droid-Life did it again, they provided the Mobile Phones community with more pictures as well as detailed information about the upcoming Verizon handset name Motorola Droid XTreme.  Look to me like the Droid XTreme does come with 8 MP Camera, HD video recording like the HTC Evo 4G.

Now Droid-Life still isn't 100% sure on whether or not that is MotoBlur but it sure looks sort of like it doesn't it?

The device is definitely a step forward to the Motorola Droid, it might as well compete directly to the HTC Evo 4G.  After all the attention yesterday regarding to the HTC Evo 4G release, Motorola isn't stepping back, and they hope this device will do the direct competition.

I am not sure if I would consider this a big upgrade from the origial Motorola Droid, although the specs are enhanced somewhat, they did throw in a 8 MP camera, a little improvement on the Processor, from 600 mhz to 750 mhz.  As far as appearance, it looks very much like the Motorola Droid 1.

According to DroidLife, here are some of the spec

  • -Android 2.1 (unless Verizon pumps out a last minute 2.2 update to it)
  • -3.7″ screen
  • -750MHz OMAP processor
  • -Wi-Fi tethering
  • -8GB internal
  • -8GB SD card preinstalled
  • -Updated keyboard
  • -5MP camera
  • -New version of Motoblur
  • -No HDMI port
  • -No front facing camera

Well, not just Verizon, but Motorola, Google, and Verizon will be announcing a new  android device, even Adobe will be there, probably flash related.

The media invitation postcard has been surfaced around for Media people, so engadget got a copy.  There will be demo immediately following the press event, attendees will have an opportunity to see the latest generatio of DRoid by Motorola from Verizon Wireless.

Can we say Droid X please? let's the drums roll... Will it be release with Android 2.2 Froyo? or just Android 2.1? I guess we will truly know by then.

Yes you heard it right, it's not the Droid X that's going to be release next month, this is the Motorola Droid 2, a successor of the original motorola droid.

Gizmodo got us some pictures of a summer intern name Zack who had the first impression with the device.

Zack wrote:

I am a summer intern at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (NASA) this summer and today there was a tech show on the lab. There were a lot of cool new technologies along with booths for companies like Microsoft, Apple, Sprint, and Verizon.

I went over to the Verizon booth and was surprised to see a curious-looking phone next to regulars like Blackberries and the Droid Incredible. I picked up the phone and once I looked at it more closely I realized it was the Droid 2. I asked the representatives and they told me that they weren't sure exactly what the name was going to be, but that it was indeed the successor to the original Motorola Droid.

It felt really nice in my hand. It seems smoother than the original Droid. A lot more curves and less sharp edges. Held next to my original Droid, it seems exactly the same size The headphone jack, volume buttons, power/sleep button, and the Micro-USB port were all in the same place and pretty much exactly like the original. The camera button is also in the same place, but smaller and the same color as the volume buttons.

Verizon Wireless plans next month to start selling Droid X, the latest phone from Motorola Inc based on Google Inc's Android software.

The move comes as all three companies try to keep pace in the intensely competitive smartphone market, which this week will see Apple Inc roll out its much-anticipated iPhone 4 on five continents.

Verizon Wireless, the biggest U.S. mobile provider, said the Droid X phone will go on sale July 15 for $199.99 after a $100 rebate to customers signing a two-year contract.

The Droid X has a 4.3 inch touch-screen and an 8 megapixel camera, according to Verizon Wireless, which already depends on Motorola's Android phone as a key weapon in competing against AT&T Inc, the exclusive U.S. provider for iPhone.

"This won't dissuade somebody who wants an iPhone 4 but it will keep customers who want to stay with Verizon Wireless happy," said Greengart.

I personally agree with this statement. We will see what happens in July, and how much units of Droid X can Verizon sell?
