As you may already know, Microsoft quit shipping the Kin Series couple of weeks ago in an official announcement, this made many people wondering what really prompted Microsoft from plan such a quick decision during this short of product release of its product, that's not Microsoft, it's unusually for them to give up so fast. Even the not-so good selling Zune music device is still on the stock shelves.

well according to the new blog site MobileCrunch, Microsoft had sold merely 8,800 units since its release date, at a no-contract price of $329, it works out to be $2.8 million (I trust their numbers). This barely covers the heavily advertisement dollars that microsoft had put it for the launch as well as press conferences it thrown.

In my personal opinion, I think Microsoft did the right thing because there's no way in heaven that the Kin will be anywhere nearly as popular as say the Motorola Droid. Please feel free to share your view?

This is not unexpected, the Kin devices are just a failure, and microsoft is definitely doing the correct thing by killing the Kin One and Kin Two devices, and they confirmed with Cnet with the following statment:

"We have made the decision to focus exclusively on Windows Phone 7 and we will not ship KIN in Europe this fall as planned," the company said. "Additionally, we are integrating our KIN team with the Windows Phone 7 team, incorporating valuable ideas and technologies from KIN into future Windows Phone releases. We will continue to work with Verizon in the U.S. to sell current KIN phones."

Neither Verizon nor Microsoft would say how many devices were sold, but a source told CNET that the number of Kins sold thus far is more than 1,000 but south of 10,000--significantly below expectations.

Microsoft will now focus on Windows Phone 7.  Hopefully we will get to see something cool coming out from Windows Phone 7 in the near future.
