Just as always, Samsung had started rolling out beta updates of the latest Android 8.0 Oreo OS to select devices and users who signed up for the Galaxy Beta Program a few months back, but that time is about to come to an end now, as the fifth and very likely, the final beta update is out now. The OTA update comes in at a fairly large but expected size of 613MB and The Android Soul reports the firmware version to be ZQLE.

While it most probably marks the end of the Oreo beta updates, there is no doubt that it's good news. This basically means that the official and final version of the latest Android OS is about to make its appearance via OTA on various devices now. Unfortunately, if you are in India, you have probably only started receiving the second beta update.

Head over to our firmware section to find all the latest available updates for your Samsung smartphones and tablets.

It looks like Samsung is putting in an extra bit of effort to get the December security patch rolled out to all major handsets in its arsenal before the year ends. After a number of both flagship, low-range and mid-range handsets, it is time for the Galaxy A7 (2017) to receive the latest patch from Google and Samsung. Aside from fixing eleven issues in the Android OS, the OTA update should also take care of ten bugs in Samsung's own overlying UI.

As per the latest reports, the update has the firmware version A720FXXU2BQL9, so that's what you should be seeing too. At the time of this report, Samsung had begun rolling it out in Mexico, but all other regions in which the Galaxy A7 (2017) was released should be getting the update any time now. Do let us know if you are receiving an update for your Galaxy A7 (2017) and don't forget to check manually from the Software Update menu, just to be sure!

Apple has just officially apologized to all its iPhone customers via a public letter, explaining the situation regarding slowed down older iPhone models. This apology comes in right after the company had made it public knowledge that they do indeed intentionally slow down older iPhone models to preserve the batteries in these phones which inevitably begin degrading from the very first use. While a degrading battery isn't anything new and it happens to all smartphones, the fact that Apple had been intentionally slowing down their iPhones to compensate for that was previously unknown.

You can read the full letter by clicking here, but if you are in a hurry, feel free to only read the relevant points as highlighted below.

·        Apple explains that batteries degrading is a natural phenomenon

·        The company is offering battery replacement for only $29 from late January 2018

·        The offer is applicable only to owners of iPhone 6 or later

·        The offer will end in December 2018

·        In 2018, iOS will show users detailed info about the condition of their battery

It remains to be seen how Apple fans who felt betrayed, reacts to this letter.
