Samsung has no plans to reveal the Galaxy Note 8 before August 23rd but as always, they are terrible at keeping things under the lid and we have pretty much seen everything that there is to see about the design of the device. Everything from rendered images to even 3D videos has been shown to us by various leaksters and digital artists during the course of the last few weeks. Today, we have more renders of the Galaxy Note 8 to show you, but in the Midnight Black color variant. Do take a look and let us know what you think about this leak by Evan Blass (@evleaks).

In a time when the world has invariably moved on to the rectangular brick form in varying sizes, Samsung is one of the few companies in the entire world that has not abandoned the flip phone completely yet. It's not like that the Korean company simply produces legacy devices just to keep the flip phone alive mind you; these are fully-fledged smartphones with top-of-the-line chips, Sufficient RAM, internal storage and the latest Android Operating Systems. The latest addition to this long line of flip smartphones is going to be the SM-G9298. No other name has been revealed for the handset so far, but it should be announced on August 3rd, during an exclusive media event by Samsung in Beijing, China. This is of course leaked news brought to us by @mmddj_china on Twitter. Check out the specs of the upcoming device below, as per the leaks so far.

• Two 4.2-inch displays; one on the outside and the other on the inside
• Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC
• 4GB RAM
• 64GB of internal storage
• 12-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front camera
• 2,300mAh battery with wireless charging

Check out the image above and let us know if you would buy one if you could.

The Galaxy Note 8 and the iPhone 8 are the two upcoming superstars of the smartphone world and today we have a size comparison in-between the two heavyweights for you to look at. Of course, what you see here are not the actual phones but their display panels. Nevertheless, they do give us a pretty good idea of things to come. The leak comes to us via Weibo, the Chinese social networking site which is famous for producing such leaks often, but was brought to our attention via a post by The Android Soul.

If this leak is authentic (which it probably is) then what we see here falls perfectly in line with what we already know about the Galaxy Note 8 and the iPhone 8. There is the 6.3-inch massive display on the Note 8, while the iPhone 8 sports a more Galaxy S8ish 5.8-inch borderless display. However, to Apple's credit, we must admit that it looks like the iPhone 8 truly has mastered the borderless display aspect, as compared to the Galaxy Note 8, which will clearly sport larger top and bottom bezels than the Galaxy S8 and S8+. The question is, which one did you like more?

On the official Samsung Australia website, a page ha opened up earlier today which is indeed dedicated to the Galaxy Note 8's pre-registration, as you can see from the above screenshot. However, before you become too excited, we will have to disappoint you a little. The page isn't active yet and the only thing you can do on it is read the line, "Do bigger things."

We had hoped that it would at least reveal some information or the other about the Galaxy Note 8, given we are now less than a month away from the launch date (August 23), but no such luck here unfortunately. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean we don't know what to expect already and if you are in any doubt, read the following spec sheet based on reliable rumors.

• Qualcomm Snapdragon 835/836 SoC
• 6.3-inch borderless QHD+ Super AMOLED display at 18.5:9 aspect ratio
• 6GB of RAM
• 128GB internal storage
• Dual 12-mp rear cameras with 3X optical zoom
• Android Nougat 7.1.1

Samsung is the global leader when it comes to smartphone sales and market share, but that doesn't mean it's the leader everywhere. Being the most populated and prospective nation in the world, China is now one of the biggest markets for smartphones in the entire world as well. In spite of seeming like the perfect match for each other, Samsung's hold over the local market in China has been reduced to a mere 3% at the end of Q2 2017; the lowest for the company in any other nation where it has a significant presence.

If you are wondering why it is so, there are two main factors at play here. Firstly, the political relationship between South Korea and China is not going very well at the moment. This has resulted in a number of customers rejecting Korea-made products In favor of products from local manufacturers like Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, Huawei and the like. Secondly, the competition from the local manufacturers is too steep for Samsung to match up with them under the current situation. In fact, Apple isn't doing too well in the country either as their share in the Chinese market dropped from 8.5% to 8.2% in just a year. Nevertheless, the American company is still doing a lot better than Samsung, given that their market dropped from 7% to just 3% at the end of Q2 2017 in a quarter-on-quarter comparison with 2016.
