htc one m9

More details leaked about the Upcoming HTC One (M9) flagship (codenamed Hima). This time around we're hearing that despite what some previously leaked pictures have shown us, the device won't be almost identical in terms of design to its predecessor, the HTC One M8.

In fact, in certain aspects it will be quite different. For the design of its front, and specifically the BoomSound speakers, the One (M9) will reportedly be inspired by the Nexus 9 tablet, also made by HTC and pictured below.

Hence, the M9 is rumored to come with an edge to edge glass panel on its front. The speaker panels will no longer be exposed like they were in the original One and the One M8. Rather, they will be enclosed within the aforementioned glass. This will get two 45 degree cutouts for the slit speaker grills, which will span around 50% of the handset's top and bottom edges.

And this will apparently make the One (M9)'s design closely resemble that of the Nexus 9. According to the source of the information, the new style will enable a "slicker" and "more refined" look on the new flagship smartphone when compared to its predecessors.

You have probably heard about Harman International as they are pretty popular around the world for their audio equipments. Samsung has recently bought them out for a whopping $8 billion all-cash transaction and that has led to many speculations and rumors as to what Samsung plans on doing with the acquisition. A recent report from FoneArena is stating that the next flagship smartphone from Samsung has the possibility of sporting speakers made by Harman.

In the official press release, CEO and VC Oh-Hyun Kwon stated,

"HARMAN perfectly complements Samsung in terms of technologies, products and solutions, and joining forces is a natural extension of the automotive strategy we have been pursuing for some time,"

President and Chief Strategy Officer Young Sohn added,

"We see substantial long-term growth opportunities in the auto technology market as demand for Samsung's specialized electronic components and solutions continues to grow. Working together, we are confident that HARMAN can become a new kind of Tier 1 provider to the OEMs by delivering end-to-end solutions across the connected ecosystem."

This of course, clearly indicates that Samsung's main motive behind acquiring the business was a step towards getting into the automotive business. Nevertheless, it wouldn't really be surprising if Samsung took advantage of the newly acquired Harman International's expertise and brand name for manufacturing better speakers for the Galaxy S8.

The poop Anomoji showcased by the Cupertino giant during the unveiling of the iPhone X and later put into ads was a topic of much criticism, but what couldn't be denied was the fact that the new iPhones were indeed packing some seriously advanced level motion capture technology. However, according to a new report by ETNews from South Korea, Samsung will do one better with the Galaxy S9 and S9+. Unfortunately, we will have to wait to find out what exactly is it that will make Samsung's animated emojis better than those on the iPhone X, because the source has not made that clear!

Even if you don't care much for the animated emojis, you will almost surely care abut the fact that the S9 and S9+ will feature stereo speakers for the first time ever! With one speaker on the top and one at the bottom, it would be interesting to see if those match up to the ones on the new Pixels.

FUN’IKI

Wearable technology is still finding its niche in the accessory space, particularly when it comes to the stuff designed to be worn on the head. The latest out of Japan is from the latter.

The FUN'IKI Ambient Glasses are about subtle notifications with a bit of style. Equipped with multi-colored LEDs and Audio Speakers, the FUN'IKI glasses look like traditional eyewear. If you receive a Notification on your iPhone, color coded LEDs will provide an ambient alert along the lenses.

There are also speakers-embedded on the arms of the glasses. The dedicated iOS app for the FUN'IKI allows you to assign color and sounds to specific notifications. The glasses also have a text-to-speech feature as well, so if you get an extra important message, you can have it read to you. There is even a party mode for the LEDs.

The FUN'IKI Ambient Glasses are available through a Japanese crowd funding site. Expecting shipping will be in December. The lenses can be made to prescription. The team behind FUN'IKI have an SDK for developers at the ready too. The normal retail price for these glasses will be roughly $230. They can be secured through the crowd funding source for less than half that amount.
