Stable release of Google Chrome for Android has been updated to version 40.0.2214.89 with a lot of new features. One of the main features is the New Reader Mode that fetches only the important text and images on any article / webpage for a better view, this mode can be activated through a button on the address bar, you can turn it OFF/ON via "Chrome://flags" setting page.

The Second important feature on Chrome 40 is the New Bookmark Manager, with a newer UI and thumbnails of the pages bookmarked. Also Google improved the Copy/Past/View URL behavior on the address bar, along with many bug fixes especially regrading the Android Lollipop Merged-Tabs issue.

Google Chrome Beta for Android has just been update to v40 with some bug fixes along with a Larger address bar with overflow button.

In this release Google brought a new Bookmark Manager with Material Design UI that can only be enabled from "Flags" option.

 

You only get the new address bar if you have your tabs and apps merged in Lollipop. Otherwise the tab button is in the way so Google doesn't enable the new UI. In flags, you can now use "enable password generation" to generate passwords for sites. Find the flag for "enable enhanced bookmarks" to get a page more like the updated desktop bookmark manager.

One of the important pre-installed components in Android, is the System WebView, which has a very important function to handle and display web content inside the Operating system and outside of the Chrome browser. Google is Now planning on updating the Android System WebView to version 40 in the next few days.

 

The update will bring new JavaScript APIs like Service Workers, and Battery Status as well as bug fixes and performance improvements to the whole System WebView, which will increase the rendering performance of web content in any app you run.

Honor has officially announced through a Weibo post that the company is releasing the next honor V40 smartphone on January 18 in China. Honor started as a Huawei sub-brand but in November the company decided to sell out the unit and let it be established as an independent manufacturer. The Honor 40 will be the first phone from the company after its separation from Huawei. Beginning from today, the Honor 40 will be available for pre-order through the official website, online E-commerce sites, and physical malls in China. The Honor V40's poster has been released by the company that showcases its design from the front side.

 

From the poster, it is clear that the phone has curved edges and its top-left corner has a cutout to house the two front-facing cameras. Recent reports suggest that the Honor V40 will feature the same 6.722-inch OLED panel that is available on the Huawei Nova 8 Pro. The device display may support a higher refresh rate up to 120Hz which is also getting into the mainstream these days. The phone will also have an in-screen fingerprint scanner to add an extra layer of security.

 

The Honor V is expected to be powered by the Dimesnity 100+ chipset with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB/256GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage. The phone will be running on a 4,000mAh battery with 66W fast charging. The device is rumored to arrive with support for 45W wireless charging. The device may come with Android 10 operating system based Magic UI version 4.0. It is also rumored that the company might also release another V40 variant alongside the regular Honor V40 but that has to be confirmed yet.

 

The Honor V40 may feature a 32-megapixel primary camera with a 16-megapixel camera sensor for the front photography option. The rear side of the phone may feature a 64-megapixel, an 8-megapixel, two 2-megapixel camera sensors from Sony.

Honor has revealed the Honor V40 with 5G network support in its homeland China. It is the first smartphone by the company after its separation from Huawei last year. Like other flagship smartphones expected this year, Honor V40 also supports 5G connectivity along with a powerful processing chip - Dimensity 1000 plus. It also features a large-sized OLED display screen with 80-degree curvature at its left and right side edges. The phone has a 6.7-inch screen with a dual-punch hole to house a two-camera system. It is the first V-series phone with an OLED display.

 

The screen features a Full HD+ resolution of 1236x2676 pixels resolution and 120Hz refresh rate which is trending these days. The display also has an integrated fingerprint sensor that appears to be fitted with the same technology which can be found on the Huawei Nova 8 Pro. According to the official listing, the phone features a screen to body ratio of 92.3 percent. As far as the rear design is concerned, the Honor V40 5G has a glass back, which doesn't get fingerprint marks or scratches. The device is lightweight and weighs only 186 grams with a slim profile of 8.04mm only.

 

The MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ 5G chipset brings support for 5G and dual SIM connectivity. The phone is available in 8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage configurations. The smartphone runs on Magic UI 4.0 based on the Android 11 operating system out of the box. The device also comes with GPU Turbo X graphic acceleration engine that delivers a far improved and smoother gaming experience.

 

The device has a 50-megapixel camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera sensor, a 2-megapixel macro sensor, and a laser autofocus unit at the rear panel. The rear camera offers features like dual front and rear photography. You can shot up to 4k HDR timelapse video. The phone is available in Magic Night Black, Titanium Silver, and Rose Gold and priced around $556 for a 128GB configuration.
