Approximately 252 homes are in a trial run this month with a brand new Google Entertainment Device which very well may be the project thus far known as Android@Home. This project has been tipped by the FCC where a collection of pre-run devices have been approved for testing, each of them working with Wi-fi and/or Bluetooth to connect the home. This filing was made this December and is only popping up now, Google making no official word on it because it is a big secret but chances are, it is the Android@Home Hub. The FCC filing itself has a tiny bit of information on what the project will contain, FCC says: "Google is developing an entertainment device that requires testing outside the laboratory environment. The device is in the prototyping phase and will be modified prior to fin... Read more

Technology is advancing slightly slower than the minds at Corning would have it, it seems, as the creators of Gorilla Glass present a second video in a series that brings the future to us now, glass based. The video moves from one technology to the next, starting with Handheld Display Glass, this essentially stemming off what Gorilla Glass already presents, it being thin and lightweight, damage resistant and what Corning plans for the future: 3D-projection ready! The loveliness then continues through an impressive display of lights and magic through a future we can only dream of.   Video Below! ... Read more

In the second quartile the picture is similar with iOS apps crashing in 1.47% of the cases, whereas Android apps did so 0.73% of the time. Apple has been forced to remove some of its 3G products from the German online stores. This includes the iPhone 3GS, the iPhone 4 and the 3G version of the iPad 2. The products are only being pulled from Apple online store in Germany and the brick and mortar stores will still have them in stock. This is because Motorola only sued the German subsidiary of Apple, which is only in charge of handling the online side of the sales. However, Apple has won a temporary suspension, which means it can go back to selling the previously pulled products on its online store for now. We are not sure what their next step will be but will keep you informed. ... Read more

The model numbers leaked are J1 and J2, which refer to two versions of the iPad 3 (iPad 3,1 and iPad 3,2, respectively). It is assumed that these will be for Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + 3G/4G variants of the upcoming iPad, just like in the case with iPad 2. The processor specifications confirm that the chipset is indeed the highly anticipated A6 with model number S5L8945X, as well as four processor cores-although at what clock-rate we have yet to find out. By the end of last year Facebook had 845 million users, who formed 100 billion friendships, uploaded 250 million photos per day and generated 2.7 billion daily likes. ... Read more

Corning and Samsung Mobile Display have announced they have teamed up to form a new OLED glass partnership. The two firms are establishing a new joint venture to many factors special the glass substrates that will be used in the OLED display manufacturing market. The joint venture will use Corning new Lotus Glass and Samsung OLED display tech. Lotus Glass is an interesting product from Corning that is a glass substrate that goes over the top of an OLED display and can be flexed without breaking. That allows it using curved handsets and should make it last longer in the real world by being able to deform when dropped or hit rather than breaking. The joint venture will supply the OLED backplane glass substrates for Samsung Mobile Display along with the broader Korean market. ... Read more

HTC does not give a specific date that the update will come, simply saying it will come out OTA soon. HTC also dropped information on a new version of the Sensation that is coming to the Netherlands. The new version of the HTC Sensation will be identical hardware wise to the existing version and the difference will be that the new phone comes in an ice white color. That ice white color looks more like silver to me. The HTC press release says that the phone will land on March 1 in the Netherlands and will already be running Android 4.0 when it hits. A device identifying itself as "Galaxy S 2+" showed up in the online test results of benchmark An3DBenchXL. The benchmark results offer the following info about the device: OS version 2.3.4, screen resolution 480x800 and CPU clock 1.5GHz. The regular Galaxy S II has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and so does the regular Galaxy Nexus.
