1000fps Video Capture on the Galaxy S8?

17 March, 2017 Samsung

Just like you, I thought this was one of those over the top rumors which excites fans, but never really comes out of the realm of speculations enters real life. That was of course until I remembered that the Sony Xperia XZ Premium can already do something similar. The Sony flagship can record 720p slow motion videos at an astounding 960fps, which is just 40fps shorter than what SamMobile is telling us. As per reports, Samsung will achieve the 1000fps recording feat by incorporating DRAM directly into the rear camera sensor.

Samsung will reportedly not be using the same 19-megapixel IMX400 sensor as the XZ Premium but a 12-megapixel sensor of its own to produce an even better result. Is this the main upgrade in camera that the S8 will sport over the S7? Considering the fact that it's still a 12-mp sensor just like last year, we are hoping that this is true and also that Samsung will use a better sensor instead of bundling in something similar with minor tweaks. However, as the S7 simply has a brilliant camera, that would be no easy task.

In other news, there might be a secondary 3.7-mp camera in front of the S8 and the S8+ No it's not going to be the world's first dual selfie-cam setup, but instead, it will be used for iris scanning and facial recognition.
