Galaxy S5 Gets an Update

2 August, 2017 Samsung Updates

Older Samsung smartphones have not yet been forgotten by Samsung and that has been a refreshing change in the company's attitude for the last two years. Even the Galaxy J5 Original had received the July security update, so it was only a matter of time before Samsung's flagship handset from 2014 received the same. The update is indeed the July security patch from Google, but the OTA package also carries a few of Samsung's own little fixes for bugs and loopholes unique to Samsung smartphones.

As far as the firmware version is concerned, it should be G900FXXU1CQG1, with slight alterations, depending on the location of the user and the model number of the Galaxy S5 in question. Do let us know how your smartphone is behaving after the update. In case you don't see it for your S5 yet, just wait for a few days and it should be there soon. Head over to our firmware section to find all the latest available updates for your Samsung smartphones and tablets.
