Announced by Facebook. Starting today, you can create a Messenger account with just your name and phone number, and start messaging your mobile contacts.

Just install the app and tap Get Started to reach your contacts faster, start group conversations, share photos and more.

An update to Messenger for Android is available today, and Messenger accounts will become available over the next few weeks.

What this means is the Facebook Messenger now can be used among basic SMS-replacement apps like WhatsApp and Handcent. It's really clean way of messaging folks on  your phone contacts, and you don't need to worry opening multiple messenger apps.

Today, Nokia released a unique app for Lumia Windows Phone devices called Ringtone Maker. This new app will permit users to select their favorite music and set it as their device ringtone. You may also cut the background music to your needs.For the time being, this app is accessible only for Windows Phone 8 devices and is expected to be available for Windows Phone 7.x devices soon.

In the description, it reads:

With Ringtone Maker you can create ringtones from the music on your phone. Simply open the app, select your favourite MP3 song and save it as a ringtone. You can cut your ringtone anyway you like, with editing controls that let you choose the start, end and length of your ringtone.
