After beta testing its latest version, the Firefox 19 is slated to be released officially on February 19th but no word yet from Mozilla on their site. Firefox-loyalists will surely appreciate Mozilla's move to include a PDF viewer in place of the non-secure Adobe. Furthermore, it also has an Android version that features ARMv6 and comes with a Google search widget.

Aside from bug and speed fixes, it the new Firefox 19 is said to be friendlier for developers and it allows users to view PDFs directly on the browser. Things are getting exciting for Mozilla, with its Google collaboration and other plans of developing Firefox for phones.

However, people should always remember that Mozilla is well-loved because it is open-source and supposedly free from clout of tech bigwigs like Google and Microsoft. With these developments, things might also be viewed as largely unlike what Mozilla is about. Let's wait and see.

In an interview with DigiTimes, Mozilla's Asia Operations President said that the company doesn't plan to collaborate with ODMs for making and selling own-branded Firefox OS smarthpones. If there will be Mozilla-branded smartphones, these "would be primarily used as reference models rather than for large-scale sale."

Q: Can Firefox OS smartphones be regarded as Mozilla's own-brand products, or are they joint branded with vendors?

A: No. Mozilla just provides an operating system and online store of Firefox OS-based applications. China-based ZTE, TCL and Huawei as well as LG and Sony Mobile will launch Firefox OS smartphones for sale under their brands through cooperation with mobile telecom carriers.
