Linus Torvalds is the father of Linux and as such, he has a unique perspective on gadgets and devices like the Google Nexus 7. He calls the Nexus 7 "solid" and his impression of the tablet is "so far, very positive." Linus had posted the comments on his Google+ page and starts off by agreeing with the decision by ASUS not to include a rear-facing camera saying that at the price point that the tablet is offered at, any rear-facing camera would be "nasty".
Besides, as he points out, those who use tablets to take pictures look like "a complete dork".
Users have been reporting that the Google Nexus 7 tablet has a pretty annoying display backlight issue visible regardless of the lighting conditions. The problem was brought up by some users who noticed that light was bleeding from the side of his unit's display.
Similar irregularities in backlight illumination are not something new. In fact, you might spot them with a naked eye if you look closely at the display of a cheaper handset.
In this case, however, the issue is much more prominent, which is why the unlucky owner of this faulty Google Nexus 7 is waiting for a replacement. Oh well, at least he got to be among the first to take the tablet for a spin, albeit only for a short while.
The first Google Nexus 7 unboxing videos have already hit Youtube, and those who have seen them have probably noticed that getting your hands on the device inside is harder than one would imagine.
We have a Video that put together a series of Google Nexus 7 unboxing videos, thus making the process seem a bit like solving a level 5 Hanayama puzzle. Did Google and Asus intentionally make opening the tablet's box so tricky ? Watch & Enjoy!
Yesterday, Google Nexus 7 tablets has Officially started shipping from Google play. Just after the customers in US and UK got their hands on the device, the Google Nexus 7 got its first OTA update. It's a minor one, the update is about 1MB and it takes just seconds to apply.
The Update Improve the performance and system response of the tablet, Increase Google Now speed for fetching info from the web and other minor changes too.
As you would expect from such a minor file, it brings no major changes to the user experience whatsoever. So far, the only differences spotted are some extra info in the "About" screen (photo Above) in settings and the change in build number from JRO03C to JRO03D but still Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean.
