AppTech new ReconAge Android app rocks. Relying on a proprietary technology developed in partnership with Cognitec Tecnologia Brazil and data processing specialist BrScan Tecnologia, it can recognize the approximate age of anyone using the phone's built-in camera to take pictures.
Available as a free download, the application is made to demonstrate the power of this patented technology called FaceMidia. which will be able to ascertain the age, gender and ethnicity of their audience and evaluate whether they are advertising the right products to the right demographics.
Qualcomm recently launched GameCommand to showcase games that leverage on the capabilities of the their Adreno GPUs. GameCommand features games from various dev companies, but apparently, Qualcomm are upping the ante with a game studio of their own.
They are also working on a much improved version of GameCommand, which is expected to launch at the upcoming MWC.
Qualcomm game studio will target phones and tablets powered by the company Snapdragon chipsets (which use Adreno graphics). They are promising "console-quality graphics" on the mobile devices.

Rockstar keeps delivering great news to gamers around the globe today. First it was the new trailer of the upcoming Max Payne 3 and now the game studio confirms that the original Max Payne game will hit iOS and Android devices "very soon".
The news came from a Q&A session hosted on the Rockstar website, where a fan asked whether Max Payne will be ported for mobile devices and Rockstar responded "Yes, it's on its way".
This is not going to be the first time Rockstar launches its older game titles on mobile platforms. In fact it is quite understandable that after the successful release of Grand Theft Auto III, Max Payne is on his way.

XBMC is a popular media center application for the desktop known for its 10-foot UI and the ability to customize using plugins and skins. Now the developers have announced on their blog that they are working on a full-fledged version of the application for Android.
In the blog post, the developers mention that the app has been designed for Android-based devices such as set-top boxes, televisions, tablets and smartphones. The current version of the app being developed has similar UI and functionality to the desktop app. Naturally, this won't work on smartphones, so the developers are looking at the community to come up with suitable skins for the app.

Excel spreadsheets look pretty fantastic on the large EVO display, especially slightly zoomed out in landscape orientation. Like the word processor module, you need to use the Menu button quite a bit to use the module. Pressing Menu lets you toggle between worksheets, toggle the keyboard, access the number format for the cell, manage cell font formats, search , and jump to cells.
Quickpoint
You cannot create a new PowerPoint document with the software, but you can use it to open up and view edit PowerPoint files, to some extent. I ordered an HDMI cable and look forward to trying it out to see if I can control slideshows through the cable. You can view presentations in portrait or landscape, view the slideshow that advanced by itself, and scroll through slides.

I have been using the Documents To Go PDF viewer for PDF attachments, but after just a few minutes with the one found in Quickoffice I think I found my new default viewer. I like the way Quickoffice has quick toggles between page view and reading view. Reading view reflows the text in your PDF document so you can read it with just vertical scrolling rather than full page vertical and horizontal scrolling. It even keeps data in tables quite well in reading view and zooms in to a very readable level. You can jump to pages quickly, conduct fast searches that will highlight search terms in green, zoom in and out, and rotate the document. It is quite a good PDF viewer.
