retina glasses apple

Apple has the idea of this glasses since 2006 on the Silicon Valley. Back in 2006, Apple was messing around with the idea of video glasses and even received a patent. Earlier this month, the Cupertono based firm was awarded a second patent on the project. The idea is more like Google Glass project "Smart Glasses".

Now, the USPTO has received an application from Apple for a method to deliver Retina display quality images to video glasses using a single lens.

If the design looks strange to you and you're telling your buddies that you wouldn't be caught dead wearing this, relax. The important thing to understand here is that this is not a design patent which means the final product should look a lot different. What Apple is seeking to protect is the concept of using some delivery method to send a Retina display quality image to video glasses. The patent application was filed January 20th, 2011 and the invention is credited to one Edward Craig Hyatt who assigned it to Apple.

Yes, there is no denying that Google Glass is a cool concept. But even Google admits that it won't be ready for consumers until 2014. Developers still need to start writing for the device, bugs need to be fixed and the software will probably be refined over the next year or so, The Google Glasses Explorer Eddition is Now Available for Pre-order for $1,500 but for developers ONLY. Even though early videos showed off a day in the life of a Glass user, what can the device REALLY be used for?

To that end, the Mountain View tech titan is releasing videos called Google Glass Sessions. Not only does the video show you how Google Glass will make your life easier/happier, it also shows you what Google is doing with the software. The first Session shows how Laetitia Gayn, the wife of a 'Googler' uses Google Glass to share her story about a new born child. Using 'Hangouts', she shares with her family in France a number of the baby's first actions.

Google Glass

Google's Project Glass arrived with a splash at Google's I/O 2012 a couple of months ago, but since then we've heard little about the wearable glasses prototype. That is until now when chief dreamer executive at Google, Sergey Brin, appeared on the catwalk at the New York Fashion Week along with designer Diane von Furstenberg who showed the glasses on her models.

Project Glass is basically a display you wear on a frame much like glasses and operated with a tiny touchpad on the side, and it comes with a camera so that you can capture all kinds of moments you wouldn't otherwise be able to catch.

Today we're thrilled to collaborate with the visionary and celebrated designer Diane von Furstenberg. For the past week, we've been using Glass to capture the DVF creative process from entirely new perspectives.
Soon you'll get a glimpse into what it's like to design, prepare and experience the DVF show at New York Fashion Week through Diane's eyes and a few other views.
The short film ‘DVF through Glass' will be released on Thursday, September 13 on the DVF Google+ page (google.com/+dvf) and Google's YouTube channel (youtube.com/google). We will also post exclusive images from Glass to the DVF Google+ page live during the show. #DVFthroughGlass
"I am so excited to introduce Glass to the fashion world and use this revolutionary technology to give everyone a unique perspective into fashion." - Diane von Furstenberg
"Beauty, style and comfort are as important to Glass as the latest technology. We are delighted to bring Glass to the runway together with DVF." - Sergey Brin, Google co-founder.

Corning

Corning has just announced the next generation of its Gorilla Glass named the Gorilla Glass 2. Not only is the new glass much harder but it is thinner and is significantly more scratch resistant than the previous iteration.

Corning will officially unveil the new glass at CES next week, along with a 82-inch multitouch LCD display using the glass. While we are not sure when we will begin to see devices ship with the glass but we can imagine it will become the go-to sturdy glass for manufacturers going forward. Gorilla Glass is currently found in almost 600 different products today and is protecting more than 500 million products worldwide.

According to Corning, the Gorilla Glass 2 will be harder than any other glass.

Google io 2012

After a live demo of Project Glass on the Google I/O 2012 live streaming, the biggest alternative news Google just brought is that it's opening Glass Explorer Edition to pre-orders to select US-based developers at its I/O event. The Glass Explorer price is set at $1,500 and will ship in early 2013.

The company also gave more substance on Project Glass. First and very importantly, the frame weighs less on the nose than many sunglasses and that's great news as chances are you'd be wearing this a lot once you get it.

Google demonstrated a new frame, so that it can actually fit on top of traditional glasses. Glass's main two uses will be communicating through images which you can take literally everywhere and the second is very quick access to information.

Google had skydivers in a live hangout jump on the Moscone Center roof. From there on bikers took over, relaying to wall climbers going down the wall and finally more bikers arriving on scene.

The whole thing was live all the time on a hangout for the thousands at the I/O keynote. Video Below!
