Just two days ago, Synaptics had announced their next gen fingerprint scanner (FS9100) which works even when placed under a millimetre of glass or when operated with a wet finger. Most of the world was almost sure at this point that the Galaxy S8 will feature this optical fingerprint scanner under its dual curved edge-to-edge display. However, a new report has surfaced on the internet recently which has forced the tech-enthusiasts around the world to reconsider that conclusion. According to this report, the "under the glass" optical fingerprint scanner did not work well with the S8 and therefore, Samsung is opting for a physical rear mounted scanner instead. If you are wondering why the scanner won't be a part of the Home button as usual, it's because there won't be a Home button on the Galaxy S8, as far as all reports, rumors and leaks are concerned.
Amidst all the confusion regarding the fingerprint scanner, let us not forget about the iris scanner which is also rumoured to be on the S8. Although we saw the iris scanner briefly on the Note 7 before it was shut down, the chances are pretty high that an enhanced version of the same sensor will be seen on the upcoming flagship from Samsung.

We have good news for owners of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge today as the final builds of Android 7 Nougat that Samsung is going to send out to all its customers, are almost ready. Vodafone Australia has made it official via an update onto its website on December 15 that Carrier testing for the much awaited Android Nougat update has already started. It was to be expected since the Galaxy Beta Program is coming to an end along with the year 2016. Previous reports and rumors had stated that the OEM would be updating its current flagships with the Nougat OS in early 2017 and it seems like those were right on the money. If you have been following us, then you should know that Samsung is going to skip Android 7.0 and go straight to v7.1.1 while releasing the final OTA update. While the differences in-between Android 7.0 and 7.1.1 aren't earth-shattering, it's always good to know that an OEM is going to provide the latest version of the Android OS to its premium customers.

For those of you who don't know it already, Samsung Display is a division of Samsung Electronics that supplies panels to multiple manufacturers all over the world. Their clientele includes Apple, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo and of course, Samsung's own internal departments. Apparently, Samsung Display's recent flexible OLED sales to the aforementioned Chinese OEMs have reached brand new heights as this sub-division of the South Korean giant is boasting of a sales figure that amounts to a sum of over 1 billion USD in Q3, 2016. The fact that ONLY Samsung Display makes the 6th-gen A3 flexible OLED panels is largely responsible for the impressive sales number.
In a report by IHS Market, both the small and mid-sized display business is dominated by Samsung Display with an astounding market share of 96.2% in Q3, 2016. In the entire display business, Samsung maintains the lead with a share of 31.8%, while Japan Display Inc. (JDI) comes in as a distant second and a market share of 15.4%. LG is at the third position with a respectable 13.1% share of the business.

As 2017 approaches, the new trend for the smartphones of tomorrow seem to be edge-to-edge bezel-less displays. Following the footsteps of the Xiaomi Mi Mix, Huawei is rumoured to be the next manufacturer to release a bezel-less smartphone and it might just arrive sooner than you think. The Honor Magic (as it will possibly be called), could be revealed on December 17. It could have already been out and about, had the original release date of December 7 not been pushed back.
If the latest leak is to be believed, then the Honor Magic will be priced higher than a mid-high end gaming PC, two or three average laptops and even the Apple iPhone 7 Plus 256GB variant! JingDong has the Magic priced at RMB 9,999, which equates to around USD 1441/Euro 1385/1162 pounds. Let's just hope that this listing price is the result of an exaggerated pre-release hype rather than a reflection of the actual official price tag.
