Two days ago we posted a report about Samsung plans to use 3-sided YOUM flexible OLED display on the Galaxy Note 4. Today we got a confirmation and hint for the Galaxy Note 4 Design as Samsung filed a patent that suggests a possible design for the phone.
The patent application shows a concept for a Phablet that features rounded edges on the side, that's where the curved YOUM flexible display would stretch-in. According to the design on the patent the Note 4 will have 3-sided display (Front, Right, Left) with a Camera and Flash on the back.
As you can see in the image above, Samsung envisions the user interface of the upcoming phone to make use of that curved space. The stretched area display can be used to show the most used Apps icons or customized Settings shortcuts. The Note 4 is Coming this Fall.
A new Rumor comes from a Korean Media Insider source indicates that Samsung is going to start implementing YOUM Displays on its products. Reports says that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be the first smartphone from the company to pack its YOUM flexible OLED display technology that was presented last year on its YOUM 2013 unpacked event.
The source elaborates that Galaxy Note 4 will have a 3-sided display. 3-sided implicates that the display has its left and right sides bent to create additional zones where notifications from messages, email, incoming calls can appear.
In fact, the DEMO Video from 2013 where Samsung showcased its 3-sided YOUM display prototype. From 1:35 onwards, the video demonstrates the advantages that such an implementation brings.
Additionally, Reuters reports of a Samsung representative who has confirmed that the company is working on a new form factor. This new form factor could very well be a Flexible Smartphones. The Note 4 is coming in September,2014 at the IFA.
After Samsung released the Galaxy S5 last month, rumors about the Note 3 successor, Galaxy Note 4, started to spread around like every year. Today, CNMO posted a list of partial Specs leaked for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phablet device which is rumored to be launched this fall at the IFA 2014 on September,2014.
Leaked Specs indicates that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will feature a 1440 x 2560 QHD display. You might remember that early rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S5 suggested that we would see QHD resolution on Samsung's flagship smartphone, but that turned out not to be the case. Now, speculation about a 2K screen turns to the Galaxy Note 4.
Also, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be waterproof and dustproof, just like the Samsung Galaxy S5. This will be the first time that the Galaxy Note will be protected from liquid and dust.
