Samsung and LG enjoyed the limelight with their premium smartphones. Now the time is heading towards HTC. They are going to showcase the next flagship device with a very powerful snapper.

"We can confidently say that HTC will have a very, very compelling camera experience," said Chief Financial Officer Chialin Chang on Thursday during an interview at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona. He also added the follwing - "We're making this comment after we've seen what's going on in the market."

When One M9 was launched last year, there were concerns about its camera, and this time with the rumoured One M10 they are planning to find a solution to this.

The next smartphone and the Vive virtual reality gadget are the steps taken by HTC to revive their brand as a buzz creator. The Taiwanese company has been going through tough times with losses getting reported continuously in three quarters.

HTC garnered larger presence in the MWC events mostly for its Virtual Reality system called Vive (co-produced by game developer Valve). This would cost $799 and advance orders will be taken from 29th February.

As per Wang, as there is coupling of the two wireless controllers with the Vive, it puts this system in a better position when compared with Oculus. The Vive lets you to get up and move around in a restricted space, when the Oculus makes users stay still. Consumers are savvy enough to catch the difference and find the benefit.

The executives from HTC informed that they'd need to figure out the positioning of the smartwatch when it comes to join other smart devices offered by HTC. As per Wang's words -

HTC is working on its most advanced smartphone till date, to regain the lost market share after releasing series of not so successful smartphones. Specifications of the yet to be unveiled device, codenamed as ‘Perfume' is supposed to be sold in the market as the One M10.

Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will be supported and HTC's Sense 8.0 UI will customize the smartphone. The 5.1-inch Perfume will be very first smartphone with a 1440 x 2560 QHD display - which seems like a AMOLED type, as per the person who gots hands-on with the prototype. HTC will also bundle a fingerprint scanner, embedded in the home button just like the Samsung Galaxy.

This device is powered by Qualcomm's latest top-notch processor, the Snapdragon 820 system-on-a-chip backed by Adreno 530 graphics. The prototype had 4GB of RAM and 23GB of free internal disk space (complemented by a microSD slot) - which makes it 32GB total, excluding operating system and rest of the preloaded software. There might be difference in the design of the prototype and the final device.

Perfume will feature a 12-UltraPixel snapper in the back which will also have laser-assisted autofocus. Both of the cameras in the front and back will have optical image stabilization. There is a drawback when it comes to the quality of sound - there won't be any Boomsound audio experience.

Last year Google released two nexus devices at the same time - Nexus 5S made by LG and Nexus 6P made by Huawei. It seems this type of launch has become quite a convention and Google is supposed to do it this year too.

Yesterday, a rumor about about the new Nexus devices surfaced. As per the rumor, HTC is will be the manufacturer of the two new Nexus devices to be released in the later part of 2016. Right not much is known about the two devices. But, one will feature a 5-inch screen, and the other will have a 5.5-inch display. Today, ROM developer @LlabTooFeR unveiled nuggets of new info about the two smartphones in a tweet .

The developer posed that the codename for the 5-inch Nexus phone is T50 and for the 5.5-inch model codename is the T55. It is quite evident that the codenames are curated from the screen size of the devices. Going by the history of correct tips released by the developer, this tweet also seems reliable.

The Nexus One, the very first Nexus device was built by HTC back in 2010. The Taiwanese company will also be manufacturing the Nexus 9 tablet. Apparently Huawei was also trying to create an entry for itself in the run for building this year's Nexus devices, but finally HTC won the deal.

It has hardly been a few days since we heard rumors of HTC being this year's manufacturer for Google's Nexus line of smartphones, and we already have a solid source who's confirming the rumor. According to reports, a developer in HTC has leaked the alleged codenames for the upcoming Nexus devices.

If LlabTooFeR on Twitter is to be believed, then there will be two versions of the Nexus, one with a 5-inch screen and the other with a larger 5.5-inch display. The more conservative 5-inch phone will supposedly be named the T50 while its bigger phablet version will be called the T55. Apart from this, no other information about the smartphones was shared.

Google and HTC have a bit of history together as HTC was the first manufacturer that they had collaborated with, when the first Nexus phone was launched back in 2010; the Nexus One. In fact, the business relationships between the two companies were once again renewed when they launched the Nexus 9 tablet about two years ago in 2014. HTC's renewed affiliation with Google is actually very good news for the company, as it has been suffering losses for a while now. Will this tie up be enough for HTC to regain its stature in the smartphone industry? We will find out soon enough.

The last few years have not been kind on HTC and 2015 was no exception either. Even great models like the HTC One M7 and the One M8 were not as successful as they should have been or were expected to be, but the HTC One M9 failed miserably. Often called a "beautiful disappointment," the M9 had many things going for it like an aesthetic design and the latest Snapdragon 810 processor under the hood. However, a buggy user experience, heating issues and poor camera performance went against it. This brought the sales down way below expectations.

From what has been seen in the financial reports for 2015, it looks like HTC's sales went down by a disastrous 57 percent in December 2015, when compared with December 2014. In fact, June 2015 was the worst month for HTC in terms of sales as the difference in sales between June 2014 and June 2015 shows a massive 60 percent decline. After June, September exhibits the second biggest decline in sales for 2015 at 57.5 percent. Now that the calendar year has come to a close, HTC has lost a total of 35.24 percent sales in year-to-year comparison with last year.

The new One A9 managed to improve things a little for the Taiwanese manufacturer, in spite of being criticized for copying the iPhone blatantly. Let's hope that the upcoming HTC One M10 and the HTC Vive boosts up business for the company because HTC really needs it.
