The Honor Magic 6 RSR Edition comes with a Porsche-Inspired Look

Smartphone design is usually a subjective matter, but Honor's Magic 6 RSR Edition is definitely one of the sleekest-looking premium Android phones on the market right now. The new device joins Honor's Magic lineup which includes the 6 Pro and newly-announced Magic 6 Ultimate.

A result of a collaborative effort between Honor and Porsche, the Magic 6 RSR Edition exudes a streamlined-look, with a more hexagonal approach to the rear camera island. This sleek chassis houses a 6.8-inch OLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a whopping 24GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage, as well as a 5,600 mAh battery.

Going back to the camera, the phone packs a triple camera setup with a 50MP main camera and 50MP ultrawide camera, a 180MP periscope telephoto lens, and a 50MP selfie camera, the latter of which includes 3D face unlock. The Honor Magic 6 RSR will be available in China from March 18 at RMB 9,999 (or roughly $1,400), with a global launch scheduled for Q2, 2024.

Honor wants to Sell More of its Phones in Brazillian Markets

Honor's efforts to outgrow its previous reputation as a "sub-brand of Huawei" have been impressive - just recently, the company announced its newest Honor Magic 6 Pro flagship phone at MWC 2024, which packs some of the most impressive hardware that we've seen on an Honor smartphone. As such, the company also recently expressed its intent to expand its market reach.

In a press conference, Honor CEO George Zhao noted that the company is eager to enter the Brazilian smartphone market, all the while acknowledging that there were steps needed to secure a foothold in the country such as establishing a supply chain and finding a way to work with matters concerning taxes.

Zhao noted how Brazil is important for Honor as a company, adding that if Honor was able to compete with big names like Samsung in markets such as Europe, then the company can hold its own in Brazil as well. Of course at this point the company has yet to reveal its full strategy on how it plans to take on rival brands in Brazil, although it seems adamant that it will be a relatively easy feat to accomplish.

With that being said, Honor does plan to eventually go beyond Brazil, adding that it aims to further expand its reach throughout Latin America.

Another chance for the Honor Magic Flip to appear

Speaking of foldables, we simply can't keep quiet about Honor's Magic V2 (pictured above) and the way it's built - thin on the outside, packed to the brim on the inside. Just a few weeks ago, the world's thinnest foldable phone made it out of China!

Now, there's another occasion to mention a phone that can fold from Honor - although, not a book style one like the Magic V2, but a clamshell bijou: the so-called Honor Magic Flip.

Give or take, three years have passed since Honor mentioned the Magic Flip. In mid-2021, Honor trademarked the ‘Honor Magic Fold' and ‘Honor Magic Flip' marketing names in China. Since then, nothing substantial has surfaced about the clamshell Magic Flip...

Per Gizmochina, Honor is poised to introduce its flip foldable smartphone "soon". There isn't a specific date, but it's said by tech tipsters over at the Chinese microblogging site that the Magic Flip unveiling could happen during China's Spring Festival (10-17 February 2024).

There's a very blurred, obscure leaked image that showcases the rear design featuring two circular ring modules, possibly housing a camera setup. While details remain limited, the Magic Flip is said to boast a 4,500mAh battery pack comprising a dual-cell setup. Of course, this is all unconfirmed, so it's best to take this with caution and await further updates (if Honor doesn't take another three years to release this clamshell).

Honor reveals Magic 6 series and Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design global launch date

Honor's first 2024 flagships, the Magic 6 series, have already been introduced in China, but they're expected to global as early as next month. The Chinese company confirmed today that the Magic 6 series and Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design will have their international debut on February 25.

Both series will be unveiled during an event scheduled to take place at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, which is set to kick off on February 26. During the event, Honor will introduce the Magic 6, Magic 6 Pro, Magic V2, and Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design, a luxury version of the standard Magic V2.

No other details regarding the availability of the phones have been revealed alongside the teaser released today, so it remains to be seen how much these will cost in Europe and other regions.

Currently, the Magic 6 is available for purchase in China for the equivalent of $620, while the Magic 6 Pro costs $800. On the other hand, the Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design foldable is priced to sell for around $2,250 in China.

Considering that prices in China are usually lower than in the rest of the world, we expect Honor's flagships to cost slightly more. However, the Chinese company can't raise prices that much if it wants to remain competitive.

In any case, we'll probably learn more about availability and prices days before Honor's official event, so stay tuned for more on this one.

The Honor Magic V2 Finally Makes its Way to European Markets

While the Honor Magic V2 was initially launched several months back for buyers in China, it looks like Honor has finally brought over its premium Android foldable to European markets, giving interested folks more options in the way of foldables. For its Euro debut, the Magic V2 was launched in an exclusive event in at the Porsche Experience Center in Leipzig to members of the press and tech media.

The Honor Magic V2 originally debuted back in July, and does manage to differentiate itself from competing foldable devices thanks in part to a very slim profile that measures only 9.9mm when folded, a titanium hinge design that's made to be durable (Honor says it can withstand as many as 400,000 folds), as well as 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage.

In terms of display hardware, the Magic V2 packs a 7.92-inch foldable OLED display and an exterior display that measures in at 6.43-inches, both of which come with 120Hz refresh rates. Powering the device is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which can still hold its own in this day and age.

For optics, the front of the Magic V2 includes a dual 16MP camera setup, while the back comes with a triple camera setup consisting of a 50MP ultra wide sensor with OIS and an aperture of f/2.0, a 50MP main camera with an f/1.9 aperture, as well as a 20MP telephoto camera with OIS and an aperture of f/2.4.

With all that being said, buyers in Europe can grab the HONOR Magic V2 starting from 26th Jan in Purple and Black for £1,699.99 / €1,999.
