Moto E users should check that the Motorola Update Services on their phone is the latest version. It's on the Play Store so go do that while you wait for Android 5.0 Lollipop to come around.

The Company also explained the process of bringing Android Lollipop to its devices and why its late... Moto explained the whole process in its latest official blog post. Here's what it said:

" Though we try to make the process seem easy, it's actually pretty complicated. That's because we want to ensure a quality experience across every device that gets the upgrade. Let's do a quick recap of how a major new version of Android comes to your phone.
Google improved the Android release process with Lollipop, which was important because Lollipop is the biggest and most ambitious release of Android ever. Everyone needed time to adapt. Several developer previews were released early so that developers-and device and chipset manufacturers that are part of the early access program could kick the tires.
A critical milestone occurs at the "public push" of a new version of Android-when Google releases the source code to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), typically with the introduction of a new Nexus device. " - Motorola Official blog

Moto X Pure Edition

Motorola has introduced a new variant of the Moto X Pure Edition. For an extra $50 over the 32GB variant, you can get the new 64GB variant for $599.99.

The 64GB model is only available in the SIM-free unlocked Pure Edition model through Motorola's website. If you want it on a contract, you will have to choose between the 16GB and 32GB models only.

If you are looking for only the unlocked model, however, it makes sense to get the 64GB model as the Moto X has no microSD card slot so you can't expand the memory later if you want.

The Lollipop Updates continues, this time its Motorola which has just updated its 1st and 2nd Generation of the Moto G models to the latest Android 5.0.1 update.

Few people have received the update so far but it does seem to be rolling out now and if it's not available for you immediately it should be in the next few things. The 5.0.1 update was released recently and mostly features bug fixes without any major additions. Still, it's good to see this budget phone being one of the few devices out there running the very latest version of Android.

Over the past two years or so Motorola turned regular firmware updates into one its top priorities and things won't change with the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop. Motorola beats Google on updating its latest flagship Moto X (2014) to Lollipop.

It appears that it will be the first company to do so. The Moto X (2014) that have signed up to participate in the company's soak testing are already receiving a beta 5.0 Lollipop build as an update. That's not quite the finalized ROM that will be distributed, but barring any major bugs that might pop up during the testing, that one shouldn't be too far away.

We don't have an exact changelog for the update, just yet but Material Design UI has been confirmed as well as the battery life boost by Project Volta. We don't know if Motorola will be adding any touches of its own to the release, but the company usually likes to stick close to the vanilla user experience.
