OnePlus could be hopping on board the flip phone bandwagon

Last year, OnePlus finally got on board with foldables with the launch of the OnePlus Open. But it looks like the company could be exploring other form factors. A post on Weibo by tipster Smart Pikachu claims that OnePlus could be looking to launch a flip foldable phone as well.

In a way it's not surprising. Many companies who have foldables usually have two form factors. One would be the phone-tablet hybrid, and the other is a flip model that transforms a smartphone into an even smaller device. Generally speaking, flip phones tend to be more popular as they are more affordable.

Plus, not everyone necessarily needs a tablet, so having a smartphone that can be folded down to become even smaller is actually appreciated. That being said, we're not sure if this will be a 100% original design. The OnePlus Open is basically a rebadged version of the Oppo Find N3. Both companies are under the same parent company so it's not surprising they share tech.

If OnePlus launches a flip phone, it could be based on an existing model like the Oppo Find N3 Flip. Either way, we'll have to wait and see if these plans ever come to fruition. But what do you think? Is a OnePlus flip phone something you might be interested in?

OnePlus Nord CE4 teaser reveals important battery improvement

OnePlus Nord CE4 is just a few days away, so all the more reason for the Chinese company to come with a couple of more teaser highlighting some of the phone's key specs. After its phone's full specs list, price and design have been leaked earlier this week, OnePlus is now adding a few pieces to the puzzle by revealing new details or confirming some of the leaked information.

For instance, we already know the OnePlus Nord CE4 will be powered by a large 5,500 mAh battery, a welcome improvement over the Nord CE3's 5,000 mAh battery. What we didn't know is the battery comes with support for 100W fast wired charging, which is yet another important improvement over the Nord CE3's battery that supports 80W fast wired charging.

The information was revealed over the weekend by Amazon India, which seems to have jumped the gun a little bit and went live with a dedicated website for the OnePlus Nord CE4 before its official announcement (via GSMArena).

The website is no longer accessible (at least at the time of writing), but the screenshot stands as evidence that the OnePlus Nord CE4's battery does feature support for 100W fast wired charging.

OnePlus has already confirmed that the Nord CE4 will be introduced in India on April 1. The phone will be available for purchase for as low as Rs 24,999 ($300) and it will be offered in two colors: Celadon Marble and Dark Chrome.

OnePlus is gearing up for another important product launch, the Nord CE4. The phone is expected to be officially introduced in India on April 1, but the OnePlus Nord CE4 will be available for purchase in many other countries.

For now, we only have information about the phone's price in India, but it shouldn't be too different in other regions. Apparently, the cheapest OnePlus Nord CE4 (8/128GB) costs Rs 24,999 ($300), while the expensive model (8/256GB) is priced to sell for Rs 26,999 ($325) (via Abhishek Yadav).

Also, thanks to reliable leaker Ishan Agarwal, we now know what the phone looks like. A couple of official-looking renders show the OnePlus Nord CE4 from all angles, thus leaving nothing to the imagination.

Along with these pictures, Ishan also leaked the phone's key specs. For instance, the Nord CE4 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor. The phone is said to sport a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, as well as a large 5,500 mAh battery with 100W fast charging support.

As far as the camera goes, the Nord CE4 is supposed to feature a dual camera setup that consists of a 50-megapixel main sensor (Sony LYT-600) and an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera (Sony IMX355). The phone should also have a secondary 16-megapixel camera in the front for selfies.

Finally, the specs sheet mentions that the Nord CE4 comes with hybrid dual SIM slot, allowing users to expand storage up to 1TB via microSD card.

OnePlus Ace 3V is the first to use Qualcomm's new mid-range chipset

Yesterday, Qualcomm announced their latest mid-range chipset. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. The company also announced that OEMs such as OnePlus would be using its chipset, and sure enough, OnePlus has managed to be the first to launch a smartphone with it in the form of the OnePlus Ace 3V.

The handset is currently only available in China, but there is a chance it could debut in other markets under a different name. As for its hardware, the OnePlus Ace 3V features a 6.74-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 and will come with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM. It also comes with up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

The phone packs a dual camera setup consisting of a 50MP main shooter with OIS, and an 8MP ultra wide angle lens. It is also accompanied by a 16MP front-facing camera. The OnePlus Ace 3V comes with a 5,500mAh battery with support for SuperVOOC charging. It is not the most feature-rich phone we've seen, but with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3's capabilities and support for AI, there is potential.

It is currently on sale where it is priced starting at CNY 1,999 for the base model. We're not sure if and when OnePlus plans to release the phone in other markets. We'll have to wait and see if they do.

Some OnePlus 12R units aren't playing nice with Verizon

We're sure that many were excited when OnePlus announced the global launch of the OnePlus 12R. A handset for around $500 with pretty much flagship hardware? It's an easy sell. Unfortunately for some OnePlus 12R owners in the US, it seems that they are running into issues using their phones with Verizon.

Note that not all users have these issues. There are some using it just fine, but there are still quite a number of complaints on the XDA Forums of users encountering problems. According to some of these complaints, they were told that the OnePlus 12 is allowlisted on the Verizon network but the 12R isn't.

The good news is that OnePlus is aware of the problem. In a statement made to Android Authority, the company says that they are investigating the problem. They also say that they are working with Verizon to rectify it.

"The OnePlus 12R is able to work with all major carriers and on all major 5G networks in the US, including Verizon. We are currently investigating unexpected cases that users may be having with Verizon's network, and are working with the carrier to resolve the issue as soon as possible."

This isn't to say you shouldn't buy the OnePlus 12R. If you do and you plan to use it with Verizon, there is a chance you could be affected. It also seems that there are no issues using it with T-Mobile or AT&T. Those are carriers you might want to consider if you think that this is a deal-breaker.
