All you require to think about the OnePlus 9

We're a few days away from the official unveiling of the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, but OnePlus has already pretty much shared everything there is to know about its 2021 flagships. The OnePlus 9 has been the subject of plenty of rumors since late 2020, not long after the release of the OnePlus 8T. But instead of letting the leaks play out, the company seems more than content to just share everything ahead of the announcement.

The first leaks for the OnePlus 9 were CAD renders which gave us some expectations as to what the OnePlus 9 would look like. Since then, we've learned and seen that this is not an earth-shattering design change, but instead brings a slightly-tweaked design compared to the OnePlus 8T.

The biggest change, aside from the different colors, is the all-new camera hump in the top right-hand corner. There aren't many differences even between the 9 and the 9 Pro, with the only changes coming with the additional camera sensor on the 9 Pro, along with the new Hasselblad logo.

It seems that smartphone makers have finally been listening to customers, as we've seen recently-launched devices ditch the annoying curved displays. These are more frustrating than they are helpful, as even software adjustments can't help with eventual accidental touches on the edges of the screen.

That brings us to the displays of both of these fancy new phones. While it seems that the OnePlus 9 will borrow the flat display found on the 8T, while the OnePlus 9 Pro could feature a slightly-less curved display, similar to that of the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

OnePlus 9 Official Videos

If following the OnePlus Twitter account or Pete Lau wasn't enough, there are quite a few videos for you to watch in order to get your OnePlus 9 fix.

Features

Features

As you might expect, there are a few key features to help set the OnePlus 9 series from the competition.

Hasselblad partnership

OnePlus kicked off all of the ‘official' hubbub with an announcement of its partnership with Hasselblad. OnePlus has been trying to keep up with Samsung, Google, and Apple in the camera department and in an effort to do so has partnered with Hasselblad for its Pro model. In addition to helping out with the camera hardware, Hasselblad is also bringing its Pro Mode on the software side. OnePlus has also promised to invest more than $150 million over the next few years in an effort to improve camera research and development centers for better mobile cameras.

All the charging

It should come as no surprise that OnePlus is pulling out all of the stops in the charging department. While the OnePlus 8 Pro introduced wireless charging for the first time in company history, both the 9 and 9 Pro are rumored to get wireless charging. We could be seeing more basic wireless charging on the standard OP9, but it would still be more than welcome at this point.

Meanwhile, the 9 Pro is expected to see super-fast wireless charging with speeds up to 50W. There could also be an all-new wireless charger made available so that your phones can take advantage of the faster-charging speeds. Wired charging is likely to be just as fast as you want, with the company's Warp Charge 65 wired charging capabilities.

What about the OnePlus 9R?

There have been on and off rumors about a potential budget device being announced alongside the 9 and 9 Pro. The OnePlus R has finally been confirmed and will likely only be coming to India for the time being. The Nord line is still going to be hanging around, so the 9R will be a stepping stone between the Nord and standard OnePlus 9.

As for specs, there's really not much known yet. As of right now, we have an idea of the following included specs:

  • 6.5-inch AMOLED Display w/ 90Hz refresh rate
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 or 865
  • 5,000mAh battery
  • Warp Charge 65

And a watch?

And a watch?

Along with all of the teasers for the upcoming smartphones, OnePlus has also been building the hype train for a wearable device. The OnePlus Watch has been confirmed to be announced on March 23rd, but we don't have too much information on what will be included. Outside of the render above, shared by Unbox Therapy, we know that the smartwatch won't be running Wear OS and could be priced around $150-$200.

Price & Availability

The biggest question with these devices is the price. We already know that OnePlus will deliver in the software and hardware department, and the Hasselblad partnership is likely to pay dividends for everyone. After seeing the $200 discount on the Galaxy S21 compared to its predecessor, we wouldn't be surprised to see something similar from OnePlus. There hasn't been much to go off of in the rumor department, but we wouldn't be surprised to see pricing start around $749 for the OnePlus 9 with the 9 Pro coming in around $900-$950.

The OnePlus 9 Pro could highlight 50W remote charging

Perhaps the greatest grumbling when it came to OnePlus gadgets before a year ago was the absence of remote charging. That all changed, somewhat, with the OnePlus 8 Pro as the organization at last presented remote charging capacities. The organization even delivered its own Warp Charge remote charger, that was somewhat massive, yet at the same time gave the quickest remote charging speeds for the 8 Pro.

While the OnePlus 8 passed up the remote fun, the 8 Pro was equipped for being remotely energized at paces to 30W. OnePlus could be raising the stakes with the OnePlus 9 Pro, as bits of hearsay propose that we'll be seeing velocities up to 50W.

Different bits of gossip have asserted that the 9 Pro would see 45W charging speeds, however these new reports express that OnePlus is stretching the boundaries up to 50W. Be that as it may, in case you will have a phone with quicker charging capacities, it's imperative to have a remote charger to match up with the phone. Fortunately, it appears to be that OnePlus is additionally going to be delivering a refreshed OnePlus Warp Charge remote charger to give those quicker rates.

There's no notice of how much this remote charger will cost, nor do we understand what accessibility will resemble. By the by, the OnePlus 9 Pro is turning out to be a significant noteworthy gadget in front of its March 23rd dispatch.

The 9 Pro gets the entirety of the affection and consideration, yet there's as yet going to be a standard OnePlus 9 going ahead the 23rd. A year ago, the standard OnePlus 8 passed up the remote fun, and OnePlus is correcting that with the OnePlus 9. Bits of gossip state we'll be seeing remote charging capacities, nonetheless, we don't have a clue what paces will be incorporated. It shouldn't come as any shock, however we don't anticipate seeing a similar 50W velocities on the 9 as will be accompanying the 9 Pro.

The OnePlus 9 ought to have recently been delivered as of now

While OnePlus has been getting great at making smartphones that everybody needs to use, there's something that the organization ostensibly shows improvement over that. It's tied in with developing publicity for its forthcoming items, yet with the OnePlus 9, this one feels somewhat extraordinary.

Prior to plunging further, we should investigate what occurred with the Pixel 4 in front of its dispatch. The phone was being spilled perseveringly, giving us something beyond a glance at what Google's 2019 lead would incorporate, alongside the overall plan. At that point, Google chose to "quit" messing around and just flaunted the phone in some authority renders. In any case, rather than simply dropping the entirety of the data on the double, we were as yet compelled to stand by until the organization's pre-decided dispatch date where the remainder of the spec-sheet was formally shared, alongside valuing.

It appears to be that OnePlus is adopting a comparative strategy with the OnePlus 9, subsequent to seeing the gadget released everywhere. From Twitter leakers to YouTubers, and wherever in the middle, there have been spills encompassing OnePlus' most recent gadget.

Recently, the organization affirmed an association it has made with Hasselblad for the camera sensors and some product highlights to improve the camera experience. Be that as it may, rather than simply affirming an organization, OnePlus likewise shared some data about what the impending camera will be prepared to do. This incorporates taking 12-digit RAW photographs, client command over various parts of the picture, for example, ISO and openness time, alongside another altering interface. Additionally, OnePlus affirmed that the OnePlus 9 will be fit for giving "improved HDR video recording", alongside 4K @ 120FPS and 8K @ 30FPS video recording.

While the organization avoided sharing the entirety of the insights about the camera specs for these forthcoming gadgets, it shared a secret video sharing the plan of the OnePlus 9. It doesn't take a scientific genius to sort out the thing will control these phones, with the Snapdragon 888 going about as the leader chip for 2021, and that will probably be combined with in any event 8GB of RAM and 128GB of non-expandable capacity. There will be a few contrasts between the standard OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro, and it could simply be a distinction of battery size and remote charging (or not).

At that point there's another obvious issue at hand. In the course of recent weeks, we have been seeing more bits of gossip proposing that Apple will hold an occasion around the same time as the OnePlus 9 declaration. This will generally dominate whatever OnePlus plans to report, and could wind up muffling the dispatch out and out.

Rather than playing the "how about we continue to prod for quite a long time" game, OnePlus ought to have recently accepted the open door to uncover everything about its forthcoming leader setup. OnePlus might have even given the declaration and mysteries, and express that the phones will go marked down on March 23rd. However, all things being equal, we aren't even certain if the OnePlus 9 will be accessible for buy on the 23rd, or if that is only the declaration date prior to expecting to stand by significantly more to get these phones into our hands.

Truth be told and reasonable, dislike this is a strategy utilized by OnePlus, as we see organizations report a gadget or item is coming however hold the declaration. We've seen this with any semblance of the ASUS ROG Phone and the OPPO Find X3, and the most compelling motivation is to help keep your consideration paving the way to the authority discharge. Regardless of whether it's because of another association or a settled upon delivery date with new equipment, there could be a lot of reasons why there's a hole. However, there's the undeniable possibility of losing the consideration of the media if the underlying mystery is delivered excessively far in front of the last gadget dispatch.
