The recent leak comes from the website RootMyGalaxy, courtesy of leaker @Thedroidleaks, who has been active for some time in the tech industry. Although the leak isn't confirmed officially, still it sounds pretty surprising. While the OnePlus 8 Pro is one of the most popular smartphones recently, but it might not be as biggest as we might expect. As per leaks, the device is going to even smaller than its predecessor. There isn't much information on the specs of the device so far, but we are not expecting a huge change from the OnePlus 7 Pro in terms of screen resolution, features, or hardware specs like the camera.

The leak suggests that the OnePlus 8 Pro will have a 6.5-inch screen, making it smaller than the OnePlus 7T Pro or Pro, both of which had a 6.67-inch display. Usually, smartphone manufacturers are aiming for a bigger screen every year and going backward seems strange. For the lite version, the phone could be even smaller than this. Other reports suggest that there will be 8GB of RAM and 12GB RAM variants. This is the same as OnePlus 7T Pro. The 12GB of RAM was in the McLaren Edition phone though, so the standard 7T Pro had the same 8GB of RAM. But since other companies are integrating into even 16GB at this point, 8GB of RAM feels a little less than the required memory.

Another leak suggests that the phone is going to have a 4,500mAh power pack. That's higher than the 4,085mAh of the OnePlusl 7T Pro. Other rumors are claiming a much higher display refresh rate that goes up to 120HZ. The device will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 865 processing chip, 4,500mAh battery, and 50W fast charging. We can expect some delay in the release of the phone due to coronavirus spread in China. But hopefully, we will see it in the second quarter of this year.

At CES 2020 OnePlus unveiled its latest concept smartphone - called the Concept One. Although the design is beautiful, in a recent interview with the company's industrial design team revealed a more stunning early prototype of the device. In such pictures showcasing the design, you don't see the front side because usually there isn't much difference there. What we do see is that same leather back on the Concept One we recently got into our hands. The device is available in black and orange color, whereas this one is completely black, featuring a subtle carbon fiber design around the camera sensors.

According to the team lead in the interview, the company might do some experiments with the design to create more environmentally-friendly alternatives in the future that achieve a similar look and feel to the concept one.
"We believe leather is a material that achieves the premium build quality we strive for, providing a soft touch, while also create a thinner hand feel when compared to glass," said Tao. "In the future, if we intend to apply similar back design, we will look into alternative materials that can achieve the same look and feel with leather, while being more environmentally friendly and easier to keep clean in the long run."

OnePlus has done a few new design experiments with concept one. The biggest surprise perhaps is the use of electrochromic glass. This technology can turn the glass opaque and you will find this technology in fancy hotels and airplanes. This would hide the cameras in the phone OnePlus has encased three camera lens in a slot between two big pieces of orange leather. This phone looks good as you won't see any camera lens in the view. The device takes just 0.7 seconds to switch from opaque to transparent which is the fastest in the industry. As per the company, this type of technology won't be affecting the quality of the photos being taken.

2019 was the year of success for OnePlus. In 2020 the company isn't likely to slow down, as we have already witnessed a new streak of rumors about OnePlus 8 series as these devices are on the way. There is also a rumor about a new mid-range or budget-friendly device coming from the company, which is tagged as OnePlus 8 Lite. If it does launch, it would be the first mid-range smartphone from the company since the OnePlus X, that was launched back in 2015.

The mid-range device OnePlus 8 Lite was named as "Lite" by rumors because it seems more sensible than using the X, as OnePlus did in the past. It might be possible that the Lite version has some other name, but until we hear from the company, we will continue to use the OnePlus 8, Pro, and Lite. As per leaks, the devices will be launched in May of 2020. It's predecessor OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 6 both were released in May.

As per leak images, the OnePlus 8 looks slightly different than the OnePlus 7. There is an addition of a lens on the rear side of the device. Earlier, the phone had only two lenses. On the front side, the waterdrop notch is gone. Instead, the company adopted the punch-hole route by adding a single camera lens for taking selfies as a cutout in the upper left corner.

As per the physical buttons are concerned, the volume rocker is on the left side, and the power button is a layout on the right side along with the alert slider. The USB-C port is in its usual place and there is still no 3.5mm headphone jack. From the back, the device looks similar to the OnePlus 7T Pro. The camera has left-of-center ToF sensor, all arranged in pretty much a similar way as in 7T pro. In short, the OnePlus 8 Lite is different than any other OnePlus phone from the front side.

As per confirmed leaks, the OnePlus 8 series is going to have a 120Hz display refresh rate. With its predecessor, the display rate was 90Hz. However, it is unlikely that the Lite version will feature such a high refresh rate. OnePlus could use wireless charging with the upcoming series.

Foldable phones have become the reality after years of research and rumors. Samsung was the first tech company to launch and re-launch the foldable phone. Despite its earlier disaster release, the foldable phone is working just fine and people have bought it like crazy. Huawei was another company to follow the trend, and then there was foldable from Razr. But if you own OnePlus or love their technology and wonder why there is no foldable from the OnePlus so far then here is why. The CEO Pete Lau has some skeptical views about foldable devices. The verge caught up with the OnePlus head on the sidelines of the OnePlus concept one launch event. In a podcast interview, Lau expressed his concerns that OnePlus hasn't found any significant value in making a foldable phone just yet.

He believes that the appeal of foldables is "outweighed by the shortcomings or the disadvantages of the current state of the technology." Lau says he has qualms with the way creases appear on the displays of foldable phones such as the Samsung Galaxy Fold. Due to the plastic nature of current foldable displays, the screen can scratch easily and issues can occur at the point where the actual fold happens, Lau explains. "This isn't something that I can accept in products that are built,".

Lau says that the technology needs to mature to a level where display folds are crisp and don't impact the potential usability of phones. He further commented about the redesigned Moto Razr. In his opinion, though it is a different implementation, its display faces the same challenges as the Galaxy Fold. He isn't the only head of the tech company who has concerns about the device flexibility and usability. LG has also shared the same sentiments. The OnePlus Concept One prototype smartphone is all set to make its debut at CES 2020. The company has created some mystery around its cameras that will be revealed by then. Recently, OnePlus uploaded a video that teased the device and shows its design in 10 seconds. As it is shown in the video, the OnePlus Concept One features an invisible camera setup that no one has manufactured in the industry yet. Wired further explains that OnePlus has teamed up with long-time collaborator McLaren to use the glass technology in mobile devices that are already found in high-end cars and special aircraft windows.

The rear side camera setup hides under the glass of the phone. The tint of the glass reveals hidden cameras once it is triggered by electrical signals. This makes the triple camera array comes on the front side when you open the camera app and hides it when not in use. Wired suggests that the OnePlus concept Once has a race-car-like design, which isn't exactly surprising considering the device is designed by McLaren. The company is still working on the design and it may not reveal shortly. The CEO Pete Lau of OnePlus says, "With this approach, we'll be able to produce smaller amounts of the product and, with feedback from a small group of users, look at the possibility of making a device that's available for users more widely,"

According to the leaks, the OnePlus concept one has the same camera specs as the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition. It will feature a 48MP lens as a primary camera, a 16MP ultra-wide lens, and an 8MP lens to act as a telephoto snapper. The only major difference here is the addition of the special appearance of the glass. When activated, the back of the phone becomes completely black, making the lenses disappear and gives a uniform look to the rear camera. This is the same electrochromic glass used on the optional sunroof on the McLaren 720S supercar. OnePlus was inspired by the car and started working on incorporating the glass in a phone in 2018.
