S5 Lollipop

 

Samsung is working on bringing Lollipop 5.0 update to all its users. Today, Official Galaxy S5 official Lollipop 5.0 OTA update is Rolling-out in Spain to all unlocked SM-G900F devices. The same update will reach more European countries and users very soon during the Next month.

So far, the Lollipop update has endowed the Galaxy S5 with a new lockscreen and card notifications, priority mode, heads-up notifiers, a clipboard tool, a new fingerprint lock screen, improved fingerprint reading, and more goodies - think Material Design apps and a speedy new ART runtime.

Samsung halted its Android 5.0.0 Lollipop updates, because its Now working on Developing on Google's latest Android 5.0.1 build. Samsung's Lollipop 5.0.1 Update packs some minor but important bug and security fixes to the previous 5.0.0 update that was released to the Galaxy S5 Poland users OTA last week.

The first 5.0.1 Updates will hit the Galaxy S5, Galaxy S5 LTE-A, Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge users. Check out the walkthrough Hands-on Videos Below that showcasing the latest Lollipop 5.0.1 BETA ROM builds for these Samsung devices.

 

These Updates should start Rolling-out Over-The-Air (OTA) by Early January,2015.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 5.0 Lollipop BETA ROM has been leaked online from the XDA forum, a thread on the developers forum now offers a download link along with a full set of instructions for a manual flash.

So the update seems to be as real as it gets, but unsurprisingly it is an early beta, that just happened to accidentally slip through the cracks. Screenshots seem to showcase a white menu background which looks like a very poor choice as it might cause the Super AMOLED display to draw way more power than it needs to. Hopefully Samsung will address this issue before the official OTA hits.

The leaked version of Android Lollipop does seem to be functioning, but reading through the XDA forum is appears to be riddled with bugs, which of course is expected from a beta not intended in any way for public use.

Note 4 Note edge

 

We already heard that Samsung is preparing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its two of the latest flagships, Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge. The update should be ready by Early Next Month. However, we are receiving reports that the Note 4 and Note Edge will skip the Lollipop 5.0.0 update... to get the latest Lollipop 5.0.1 update instead.

The latest reports indicates that Samsung is already working on Android 5.0.1 updates for the Note 4 and Note Edge, this new 5.0.1 update packs some important bug fixes and security enhancements from Google to the original Lollipop 5.0 image.

Android 5.0.1 Lollipop for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge is expected to start Rolling-out on January,2015 with an updated version of TouchWiz UI and other many other features.

For one reason or another Poland has been chosen as the Lollipop testing ground and the Galaxy S5 is receiving its 2nd Lollipop update. This one patches up issues found in the first version which includes Stability and Performance Enhancements along with some reported bug fixes for the most part.

You can update over the air (Settings > About > Software update) or you can use Samsung Kies. Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F) owners can also download the firmware and flash it themselves, though at this point it will probably be smarter to wait for the official rollout.

The new update weighs in at 371MB and has the following PDA number G900FXXU1BNL7. An official changelog is not available.
