Galaxy ALPHA

Samsung already announced the Galaxy ALPHA back in August. Today, Corning has announced that the Samsung Galaxy Alpha features the recently unveiled Gorilla Glass 4 (GG4).

"Corning spends a great deal of time collaborating with Samsung to recommend solutions that will continually improve their device design and performance," said Cliff Hund, general manager and president, Corning East Asia. "Device makers want to go thinner without sacrificing damage resistance. Samsung is not only meeting these requirements, but is on the cutting edge of smartphone design. The Galaxy ALPHA is the culmination of our close collaboration with Samsung."

The company claims that the latest iteration of its most famous product can survive 80% of drops from 1m (3.3ft) on a rough surface, and is twice as tough as its competitors. It is 0.4 mm thick, which is almost half compared to the last year's GG3 (0.7 mm).

Galaxy S5 Lollipop official update

Finally, as we promised, the Official Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop Update is Rolling-out in Europe. The OTA (Over-the-air) update started in Poland for Unlocked Galaxy S5 devices with model number SM-G900F.

As seen already, Samsung Galaxy S5 runs TouchWiz-ed version of Android 5.0, so the user experience will not be dramatically different from the one in version 4.4. However, thanks to the brand new ART runtime, we reckon that users will feel a noticeable improvement in the responsiveness of the device.

Samsung is planning on Updating its Latest flagship Phablet, the Galaxy Note 4 to Android 5.0 Lollipop by the End of this Month. Today, We got a closer look at a fully working Lollipop TouchWiz ROM on the Note 4 with a new look with a Hands-on Video too.

The general look and feel of the UI is still very much TouchWiz, to the point where most people will find them indistinguishable. There are only minor changes in the UI, most notably in the notification area, but that's pretty much it. Samsung is still sticking to its own UI design and only making minor modification to fit in with the new Material Design of Lollipop. Check the video below!

Samsung's TouchWiz UI is included on all its devices, it's interface has improved a lot lately but it's functionally and customization-ability still needs improvements. Finally, it looks like Samsung decided to make it easier for TouchWiz to customize their phones.

With Android 5.0 Lollipop, Samsung will add theming support to the New TouchWiz UI to offer the ability to quickly change the look of the device and often goes beyond just changing the UI Colors, wallpapers and icons. As you can see on the photo above a "Themes setting screen" is visible on the Galaxy S5 running the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop build from Samsung.

It's not clear how extensive the customizations via the Themes will be or which devices will get the new functionality presumably the current and last year's Galaxy S and Galaxy Note, the Galaxy Alphas too. Another change is that the S Finder button has been moved to the upper left corner and the Quick Connect button is gone.

This will save some space in the notification area. This Update should hit unlocked Galaxy S5 devices Later Next Month (December).
