Latest News - / Samsung - Posts

As we have now seen enough leaks, renders and live images to know what to expect on March 29 in the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event which is to be held simultaneously in London and New York, it's time to let you know a few other less known details.

The first rumor suggests that the Galaxy S8 will go on sale via pre-order, right from March 29 in Netherlands. This report is in line with Samsung's previous track record which has historically seen the Korean company putting its flagship handsets on pre-order right from the launch date.
In case you are wondering about when the S8 and the S8+ will actually be reaching customers, we have news on that too. In South Korea at least, reports are suggesting that the two handsets will go on sale starting from April 21. Pre-orders in the region will begin from April 7. If a customer in the country pre-orders either of the handsets, he/she will receive it on April 18.

As far as release dates in other countries are concerned, we are pretty sure that it will range from April 21 - April 28. Are you waiting for the Galaxy S8 or the S8+? Let us know in the comments.

To put it as plainly as possible, it seems like the Note 7 incident has hindered the S8 this year in more ways than anyone would have liked. As was made evident by research, the Note 7 was catching fire because of a faulty battery. The problem arose from the fact that the housing of the battery was too cramped. As it turns out, Samsung is putting a battery inside the Galaxy S8 which is disappointingly smaller than our earlier expectations. We think the two facts have a very simple connection!

The leak by SlashGear shows us the batteries which will allegedly power the S8 and the S8+. The 3,000 mAh and 3,500mAh batteries shown here confirms what the leaks had been saying for a while now. In case you didn't figure it out yet, the 3,000mAh battery will be powering the S8 and the 3,500mAh battery will be powering the S8+. Additionally, it reveals that the batteries are being assembled in Vietnam by Samsung SDI, although the cell itself is made in South Korea. What do you think? Will a 3,000 mAh and 3,500 mAh battery be enough for the S8 series, given that they will be running the extremely power-efficient Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895?

If the latest report about the Galaxy S8 is to be believed, then Samsung may offer early adopters a moneyback guarantee! This is something that is unheard of in the world of smartphones itself, let alone in case of a Samsung flagship product. According to the source, the return will be unconditional and all eligible users will be able to return their Galaxy S8 or S8+ for a full refund. What is even more astonishing is the fact that the refund eligibility will extend to all handsets for a period of three months from the date of purchase!

This is of course a marketing strategy but it is one that is truly radical, provided of course, the report holds true. This opens up the question; what if people misuse the opportunity? Besides, after three months, what if someone just wants to get a new phone by returning their old handset? The risky venture is a direct result of the Note 7 disaster and the subsequent bad reputation that the incident gave Samsung. If it is true, then we are really interested to know which will be the regions where Samsung will unleash the offer.

We posted Evan Blass's renders of the Galaxy S8 in Orchid Grey, Arctic Silver and Black Sky just a while ago and now we have live images of the color variants for you. However, we do not see the Black Sky color in any of these images. Instead, we are treated to a blue Galaxy S8 in one of the three images. Take a look yourself and see what Samsung has in store for his customers next month.

There has also been talk about a gold variant, putting the total number of color options to six at this point. The colors known so far are black, blue, silver, gold, grey and violet. There might be more colors, but we don't know about them yet. However, what we are almost sure of is the fact that Samsung won't be releasing all of them in any one region. They might even wait a while before releasing some of the colors. Which color would you get? Are you considering the Galaxy S8 or the S8+ in the first place? Let us now in the comments.

The unveiling date of the Galaxy S8 is now just about a week away, but as things stand, nothing much is left to the imagination. We now have a pretty good idea about how the two phones will look and what specifications they will sport. Nevertheless, today's leak confirms the color options and the pricing details in Europe for us. As the leaks are brought in by Evan Blass, we would say that the information is pretty reliable.
Take a look at the images leaked by the leakster which shows the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ in three color variations. The colors according to the leak will be called Black Sky, Orchid Grey and Arctic Silver. In the renders that we see here, It would be almost impossible to distinguish between the S8 and the S8+, had it not been mentioned by @evleaks.

He also leaked the pricing details of the two flagship handsets in a separate Tweet. Although we must admit that the pricing doesn't come as much of a surprise to us since we have heard and reported about these alleged price tags earlier also. The Galaxy S8 will be priced at €799 and the Galaxy S8+ will be priced at €899 in Europe. Additionally, he also revealed the prices of the DeX Station (€150), the GearVR (€129) and the Gear 360 (€229).
