South Korea has supplied a new report to the world regarding the Galaxy S8 and it didn't impress us much. According to this report, the manufacturers which will be supplying Samsung with batteries in 2017, has received orders for a 3,250mAh cell, along with a bigger 3,750mAh cell. As you can probably guess, it is very likely that the batteries are meant for the upcoming Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. If it is indeed true, do you think it's enough juice for the large QHD Super AMOLED displays with VR in mind?

While the batteries are more powerful than the ones currently powering the S7 (3,000mAh) and S7 Edge (3,600mAh), the boost is nothing significant. The S8 series will still sport QHD panels and will probably consume more power due to a larger size (expected). Add VR to the mix, which rapidly drains any battery and suddenly, one has to wonder if the batteries are too small for the upcoming flagships. Of course, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset will consume significantly less power due to Samsung's revolutionary 10nm architecture. However, one still cannot help but wonder if it would have been better if Samsung opted for larger batteries by sacrificing a few millimetres.

In a report by SamMobile, it was revealed that Samsung is all set to launch its next iteration of the Galaxy Xcover series. Although the handset which appeared on the database of the Wi-Fi Alliance wasn't exactly branded as the Galaxy Xcover 4, the SM-G930F model number leaves us with little doubt as to which smartphone we are seeing here. In case you are not aware, the Xcover 3 had the model number SM-G388F when it came out almost two years ago in 2015.

No release date has been revealed yet, but it will probably be released somewhere in April, just like its predecessor. Unlike its predecessor though, which came out with Android 4.4.4 KitKat, the Xcover 4 will be running on Android Nougat 7.0, right from the outset. Check out the screenshot above to see more details. In the meanwhile, if you have a Galaxy Xcover 3 that you want to update with a custom ROM, find one at our firmware section. Here's the tutorial on how to use Odin3 and flash ROM updates easily onto your Samsung smartphone.

When it comes to the Galaxy S series from Samsung, things have never been so confusing, especially regarding its possible launch date. The rumors this year had suggested every possible date, right from the end of February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, to multiple dates near mid-April. However, recent rumors from popular sources such as Evan Blass (@evleaks) are now suggesting that the S8 will be launched in an exclusive Samsung event on March 29. The S8 and the S8 Plus will go on sale around mid-April from there onwards.

We also have a render for you to look at today, which is claimed to be the official press render of the regular Galaxy S8 by SlashLeaks. Yesterday, we gave you a glimpse of the first live photo of what could very well be the actual Galaxy S8 and if you have not yet checked it out, take a look now as it seems to be the most authentic picture of the S8 we have seen yet. The images have only begun to come in, but the specs have been out for quite a while now. Although they are totally subject to errors, click here to see what we know about the internals of the Samsung Galaxy S8, courtesy of leaks and rumors.

Although renders by leaksters and case makers had given us a good idea about what to expect this year from the Galaxy S line-up, this is the first time that the internet has treated us to an actual live image of the upcoming Galaxy S8. Courtesy of VentureBeat, we have a live image which shows the S8 both from the back and the front. Let us now take a deeper look at what has been revealed about the S8 by the picture, provided that it is indeed the Galaxy S8 which we are seeing here.

We can see a single camera module with flash and the fingerprint scanner placed right beside it. Additionally, there appears to be a single speaker grill at the bottom and there's a chance that another speaker grill will be found on top of the phone. There's USB Type-C as expected and most delightfully, the 3.55mm audio jack can be seen as clear as the light of day. Earlier rumors had suggested that the S8 Plus may feature a dual camera module, so this could very well be the regular S8 that we are seeing here. True to what every rumor had been predicting, the phone has no physical Home button and sports a bezel-less curved display. The Galaxy S8 may be delayed, but the rumors keep coming. Check out the latest ones.

Launch date

Now that Samsung has officially disclosed that it won't be revealing the Galaxy 8 at the MWC this year, a new rumor is pointing towards a launch date which is set on April 21, instead of the previously rumoured date of April 18.

Size and display

Curved QHD Super AMOLED displays on both variants are almost confirmed by every rumor yet, along with the fact both might be sporting a very high bezel-to-body ratio.

Rear mounted fingerprint scanner

As the bezels are almost non-existent, the fingerprint scanner may move to the back. However, contrasting reports point towards an optical fingerprint scanner below the glass.

Processor

There is no doubt that the Galaxy S8 will indeed be sporting the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset in the US, but whether or not there will also be an Exynos variant for the international market, remains to be seen.

Other rumors surrounding the biggest Android device to be launched in the first half of 2017 promise an iris scanner, a 3.5mm audio jack, water resistance, expandable storage, 6GB of RAM and dual camera for the S8 Plus.
