Even though earlier leaks had suggested that both the Galaxy C7 Pro and the C5 Pro would be released this December in China, that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. According to a leak on Weibo, the two handsets will instead be released next month. No reasoning was specified on the report, as to why the launch has been delayed by a month.

It was only in October that the two smartphones were spotted while being imported to India for R&D purposes. They have since been seen on benchmarks as well and here's what we know (based on rumors) about the two upcoming devices so far.

Galaxy C5 Pro (SM-C5010)

5.2-inch 1080p Super AMOLED panel
Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 (MSM8953) SoC
4GB RAM
64GB/128GB internal storage with expandable micro-SD card/SIM card hybrid slot (up to 256GB)
16mp/8mp rear and front cameras
3,300mAh battery
Fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C

Galaxy C7 Pro (SM-C7010)

5.7-inch 1080p Super AMOLED panel
Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 SoC
4GB/6GB RAM
64GB/128GB internal storage with expandable micro-SD card/SIM card hybrid slot (up to 256GB)
16mp/16mp rear and front cameras
3,500mAh battery
Fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C

Keep in mind that most of these specs are speculated and may not match the final product accurately.

While it's definitely not the first time that we are hearing about an upcoming foldable smartphone from Samsung, the latest report from ET News has recently added a few details to the speculations. Samsung may at first, launch a dual-screen device which will have two flat flexible displays on each side of it. Whether or not the second foldable smartphone is introduced to the market later will depend on how well the first product is received by the customers. If the report is to be believed, then the twin-display smartphone will hit markets by 2017 in small amounts and in select markets around the world.

As the second part of the company's two step introduction plan, a foldable smartphone with a single flexible display will later be released in the year 2018 (considering that the first one turns out to be a success). This news reminds us of the Samsung Galaxy Round, the smartphone which featured a curved OLED panel. Unfortunately, the Galaxy Round wasn't popular enough to see a more widespread release than its initial limited manufacturing in 2013.

There's still a few months in-between now and the time of the S8's release, but the rumors are already out and about. In case you have not been following on what's going on, here's a recent rumor roundup just for you.

No headphone jack - Much to our dismay, recent reports are strongly indicating that the S8 won't feature the good old 3.5mm headphone jack.

Harman speakers - Samsung has recently acquired internationally acclaimed car audio equipment manufacturer Harman Internationals and the Galaxy S8 might sport stereo speakers made by the brand.

6.2-inch bezel-less dual curved 2K display - Much like the Xiaomi Mi Mix, the Galaxy S8 (Plus) will probably sport a curved display without any bezels and a screen-to-body ratio above 90%. The 6.2-inch variant seems quite unlikely to us, but reports are insisting that it actually is coming.

Removal of the Physical Home button - The capacitive Home button will be placed under the glass which will replace the iconic Samsung Home button. Do you like the idea?

Force Touch or Pressure sensitivity - We have contrasting reports regarding this but at least some of those reports mention that the display of the S8 will support pressure sensitive gestures just like the iPhones.

For more rumors and leaks as they happen, stay tuned.

Samsung has now made an official announcement that they will issue an update in the United States for the Galaxy Note 7, which will make the smartphones useless. Once the OTA file is downloaded and installed on the Note 7 (automatically), users won't be able to charge the devices anymore, which will eventually, turn it into an expensive brick. The update will go live on December 19 and it's yet another attempt by the OEM to bring the rest of the potentially dangerous smartphones which are still operational in the US, back to the company. More recent reports are indicating that the same move will also be taken in Europe.

Verizon on the other hand, has officially declared that they will not be issuing the update on their network as they do not want people to lose contact with each other or the emergency services during the holiday season.

"We will not push a software upgrade that will eliminate the ability for the Note7 to work as a mobile device in the heart of the holiday travel season. We do not want to make it impossible to contact family, first responders or medical professionals in an emergency situation."

According to a recent report, the Galaxy S8 will not feature the well loved 3.5mm audio jack. It will instead, sport a single USB Type-C port with audio transmitting capabilities. This will basically mean two things; all your current headphones will become incompatible and you won't be able to use even your compatible headphones while charging. One can argue that a converter/adapter can make the "old" 3.5mm headphones useable on the Galaxy S8, but the audio quality from what we have experienced so far, doesn't remain the same.

It was hardly a few months ago that Justin Denison (Marketing VP, Samsung) mocked Apple's decision to remove the headphone jack, while introducing the Galaxy Note 7.

"Want to know what else it comes with?"
"An audio jack. I'm just saying,"

If they really go through with the decision, one cannot help but feel that even after the joke and all, Samsung is indeed going to do tomorrow what Apple did yesterday. Take note though, that LeEco moved on to Lossless Digital Audio even before Apple did it with the iPhone 7 and so did some of the Lenovo Moto phones. Personally, I would hate to see the headphone jack go, what about you?
