Teardowns of the S7 and S7 Edge had revealed a curious flat piping system around the CPU of the two devices and Samsung has now confirmed it to be a cooling system designed for mobile gamers. This cooling apparatus is actually an incredibly slim thermal spreader that is linked with the Game Launcher apparatus designed to keep the devices cool even during intense 3D gaming for long stretches.

An interview with the engineering team of Samsung smartphones revealed that this little heat pipe is the smallest and thinnest heat spreader made for a smartphone till date. In fact, those little flat pipes might even be the most compact ones available in the market today. The pipe which is 0.4mm in diameter and has a space of 0.2mm inside was designed from scratch as there was nothing readymade in the industry which the engineers could use successfully without tampering with the design of the S7 series. There was experimentation with different metal mesh and alloys by the engineers and as a result, the tiny thermal spreader is fifty-times for conducive to heat, when compared to pure copper!

A very small amount of water inside the flat pipe helps in spreading the heat evenly. As the temperature rises high enough near the processor, the water evaporates and moves to the cooler side where it then condenses back into liquid form. The liquid water travels back near the processor and the cycle continues. This ingenious apparatus is the reason as to why thermal-throttling will never be an issue with the S7 series of smartphones (hopefully).

Recently, the Wall Street Journal (Chinese Edition) has published a piece about a new business contract between Apple and Samsung. According to their source in South Korea, the 3-year contract requires Samsung to supply OLED smartphone panels to Apple for upcoming iPhones in 2017 and beyond. Although the rumor regarding this contract has been around for a while now, this adds new credibility to it. Arguably, Apple is still talking with JDI, LG, Sharp and AUO before the deal becomes final.

The article adds previously unknown details by stating that this order involves production and supply of about 100 million 5.5-inch AMOLED displays that are possibly meant to be used in the iPhone 7s. Judging by Apple's current trend of reserving the larger 5.5-inch panels for their "Plus" models, chances are that these will be used to make the iPhone 7s Plus rather than the regular 7s. Whether they will still be calling it "7s Plus" or not, remains to be seen.

Previously, famous Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had stated that Apple will not be releasing any OLED phones before 2018, but he has changed his opinion in light of the new situation. Now, Kuo is of the opinion that Apple will release at least one version of its future iPhones in 2017 with an OLED display. Rumors and predictions also suggest that Apple could be going back to the glass-metal design of the iPhone 6 and it is perhaps for the best.

The Snapdragon 820 SoC is right now the most powerful chipset that's powering Android smartphones in the market, but rumor has it that an even more powerful processor is on its way from Qualcomm and it may power the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 6. If the rumor is true, then the Galaxy Note 6 might just become the most powerful phablet ever created. If we were to take a cue from Samsung's earlier releases in regard to the Note series, then the Galaxy Note 6 will probably be revealed somewhere in between August to September.

Although nothing has been officially confirmed yet, the SD 823 SoC is supposedly made up of 64-bit class Kryo quad core processors, a Hexagon Digital Signal Processor and the Adreno 530 GPU clocked at 720MHz. While the customers in the US will be able to enjoy the raw power of the 823 SoC (if the rumors are to be believed of course), the international variants will probably be powered by an Exynos processor. We have already seen the trend starting with the S7 and S7 Edge this year.

In other specifications, the Note 6 may sport a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display with QHD resolution. It is also rumored to be backed up by 6GB of RAM, but the chances of seeing a 4GB RAM variant is much higher. The S7 has a very good camera and the Note 6 will supposedly see an even more improved camera performance with the help of something that is termed as Super Optical Image Stabilization System. Other standard features like water and dust resistance, along with the hybrid secondary SIM card slot/micro-SD card slot from the S7 series will almost certainly make their way onto the Galaxy Note 6 as well. We will keep you posted on this as things develop.

If you have recently updated your Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge to the latest version of its firmware, then you can now officially scale your smartphone's display. There was a public discussion regarding the feature lately and not long after, it has been made available within the Settings menu, under the Display tab. Many consider this feature to be incorporated in the next iteration of Android (Android N) and thus it could be a taste of things to come.

The display-scaling feature isn't really ground-breaking but it does have its uses. The basic idea behind the setting is that it allows users to choose the amount of condensation in terms of DPI. The higher the condensation, the more amount of content can be seen on the display of your S7 or S7 Edge. As of now, you get the option to choose between either Condensed or Standard.

This fresh addition is a part of Samsung's new outlook towards their business. In some of their executive's own words, the Korean giant is trying to act more like a new startup business rather than an old and established MNC. If the new updates and features from their revamped software department is any indication of what's to come, then this is probably a good time to be a loyal Samsung customer.

Till now, the rumor mill has produced news that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 6 will feature 6GB of RAM, a 5.8-inch touchscreen (mostly probably keeping the QHD resolution), a 12 MP primary snapper, and 64 or 128GB of storage space (might go up to 256GB).

Recently another update came into the limelight. As per a new report, the Note 6 will have IP68 certification. This essentially means that the Note 6 will be dustproof and the water resistance will be at par with the Galaxy S7 - capacity to withstand submerging in water with 1.5m depth for close to 30 minutes.

The phone will supposedly boast an iris scanner, as per a new news released earlier today from an interesting import of this smartphone into India. Contrary to what has been with the earlier versions of this smartphone series, this new Note 5 will be available in the European market. The handset could be released as early as June, as per the opinion of certain analysts. That being said, Samsung could also follow the general schedule for Note launches and unveil it in late August or early September of this year. Right now it is indeed quite tough to predict the Korean giant's course of action.
