Galaxy Tab S2

Details about a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 2 series has been confirmed today. According to a recently published report, the 4G LTE enabled version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 2 9.7 (SM-T815, SM-T817) has received both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth certification. While this particular model carries a 9.7-inch screen, a version of the slate with a smaller 8-inch glass was imported into India last month by Samsung for testing. The company plans on destroying the tablet once it is done with it.

The details that have leaked thus far reveal that both the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 2 8.0 and the Samsung Galaxy S 2 9.7 will be the slimmest tablets available with a thickness of just 5.4mm. Both tablets will feature a Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 and an aspect ratio of 4:3. The home grown Exynos 5433 CPU is expected to be under the hood with 3GB of RAM inside. Back and front-facing cameras weigh in at 8MP and 2.1MP respectively and a 3850mAh battery will keep both models running. Android 5.0.2 is pre-installed.

Besides the SM-T815, there will be the SM-T815C, the SM-T817A and SM-T817V. The other versions of the slate could be for different regions, and for a Wi-Fi only version of the tablet. The SM-T715, SM-T715C, SM-T717A and SM-717V are the model numbers that will be used for the smaller 8-inch version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 2. In terms of dimensions, the Tab 5 will be thinner than the previous Galaxy Tab 4, but perhaps, a little shorter and wider. The certification pages for both models seem to show little difference between then, so at this point, we can't really be sure what their main distinction will be. The SM-P355C is listed as being a little heavier and only with white color as an option, although its picture clearly shows a different pallet.

Galaxy S series

Samsung today posted a video that presents the evolution of its Galaxy S flagship smartphones, from the original Galaxy S to this year's Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.

As some of you may remember, the very first Samsung Galaxy S was launched in the first half of 2010. With its 4-inch WVGA (480 x 800) display and its single-core 1 GHz processor, the Galaxy S is obviously a low-end device by today's standards. Next year, in 2011, the Galaxy S II introduced a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor and a larger, 4.3-inch display, though the pixel resolution remained unchanged. The Galaxy S III (2012) brought us a quad-core processor and a 4.8-inch 720p display, while the Galaxy S4 (2013) was the first in the series to offer a 1080p display (a 5-inch). Last year's Galaxy S5 came with a 5.1-inch 1080p display, a water-resistant body, heart rate sensor, fingerprint scanner, and a 16 MP rear camera.

Finally, Samsung's current flagships, the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, offer 5.1-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560) displays, octa-core Exynos processors, 3 GB of RAM, up to 128 GB of storage space, and bodies made out of metal and glass. Unlike the regular S6, the S6 edge features a dual curved screen which differentiates it from all other smartphones out there.

Galaxy Tab 4 10.1

Samsung has been testing an updated version of the Galaxy Tab 4 family for quite some time. The Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 was the first spotted running a brand new CPU and now rumors about the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 following suit have been confirmed.

The update in question has to do with the chipset. The old Snapdragon 400 is being swapped with a new 64-bit 410 model. While this is no major performance upgrade, the newer silicon is 64-bit, thus futureproofing the device and preparing it for the benefits of a Lollipop update.

The rest of the specs sheet remains completely unchanged and so does the price tag. The device still comes with 1.5GB of RAM and a spacious but low-res 10.1-inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display.
