Nike Power

Steven Spielberg Masterpiece starring Michael J. Fox "Back to the Future" movie was showing how the world should have been like nowadays. We already saw the Lexus Hoverboard that was released in the past copule months. Today, Nike has announced they will be making replica Marty McFly trainers with self-tying laces (that appeared on the 2nd part of the movie).

In 2011, Nike released replica trainers called Nike Mag, however they disappointed fans and movie geeks by not featuring the self-lacing ability. Yesterday, Nike and Michael J. Fox responded. The Michael J. Fox Foundation tweeted images and videos of Fox wearing the trainers, saying, "This is real. This is today. Coming spring 2016."

The profits will also go towards a good cause. The proceeds will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, the charity and interest group dedicated to raising awareness and money to find a cure for Parkinson's disease. Fox is perhaps the most high-profile person who has Parkinson's, however it's estimated 6.3 million people suffer from the disease worldwide.

Nike also hopes the shoes will have a practical function - self-lacing shoes could be a massive help for those with disabilities who find tying shoes difficult.

Ember

If you to drink Coffee, Tea and any other HOT drink, you may have faced this issue before. In cold days your hot drink will get cold fast particularly if you're distracted by other tasks during your morning routine. Well, the solution is here California-based Ember Technologies has developed a connected coffee mug that is claimed to keep your beverage hotter for longer, with users able to set the temperature through a companion smartphone app or a twist of the mug's base.

"Ember" a 12-ounce (350 ml) Smart-mug that can be controlled from your smartphone, it keeps your drink in the temperature preferred and displays this temperature on an OLED display at the bottom of the mug. How it works ? It uses a Phase-change materials shift from one state to another when exposed to different temperatures. So when hot, they may change from solid to a liquid and absorb and store heat in the process. And then when cooled again, they may change back to a solid and release this heat, for example.

And with all these advanced coffee cups around, it was surely just a matter of time before somebody built an app to go with them. By connecting with a smartphone over Bluetooth LE, Ember offers some features you can certainly do without, but a few pretty practical ones as well.

But if you find all that fiddling around in the app is more trouble than it's worth, Ember's temperature can simply be adjusted with a rotating dial just below the small display indicating the temperature. And to refuel, the mug is placed on a wireless charging pad, which doubles as a coaster and restores it to a full charge in 1.5 hours.

Ember is currently the subject of an Indiegogo campaign, where an early pledge of $109 will put you in line for one if everything goes as planned. Shipping is slated for April,2016.

The Snapdragon 820 will use four custom 64-bit Kryo cores, so no more standard Cortex solutions. The Kryo processor has been manufactured via Samsung's 14nm FinFET process, so it promises to go easy on the battery as well. And speaking of the Korean tech giant, rumors hint that it is already busy testing the Snapdragon 820 for integration inside the next Galaxy S7 flagship.

The company also confirmed that the new chips will support its latest Quick Charge 3.0 standard. The technology claims to be 27% faster that version 2.0, while using less power will help preserving the health of the battery pack longer. More details are coming, stay tuned.

Android's Stagefright vulnerability was so serious it had phone makers pledging left and right that they will provide security updates for their handsets. Clearly mobile security is important and Qualcomm wants to enable it at the hardware level with Snapdragon 820 and the new feature called "Smart Protect".

Based on Qualcomm's Zeroth machine learning platform, Smart Protect will keep an eye out for abnormal app behavior in real time (and with little power usage). The platform will help move much of malware detection from the cloud onto the device.

Qualcomm will provide software that will protect user data and privacy, but third-party apps can also hook up to Smart Protect - Avast, AVG and Lookout are working to integrate the new feature into their mobile apps.

Highlights of Snapdragon Smart Protect
• Personal Protection – Snapdragon Smart Protect provides robust security and enhanced personal privacy for today’s mobile environment, empowering end users with greater control over personal data and by detecting and classifying spyware, adware and other malicious app behavior.
• Superior Behavioral Analysis – Using Qualcomm Zeroth cognitive computing technology, Snapdragon Smart Protect enables OEMs and mobile security solution providers to enhance anti-malware and privacy protection services with real-time, behavioral-based machine learning that is designed to detect and classify zero-day and transformational malware.
• Power-efficient performance – Snapdragon Smart Protect offers optimal performance through on-device design and uniquely deep access to hardware and software of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, enabling malware detection and critical data processing on the device, rather than in the cloud.
