Snapdragon 820 x

We've all heard the stories and the explanations, promises and let downs surrounding the Snapdragon 810. The whole overheating saga has entirely engulfed the existence of the beastly SoC and has rendered it a major market failure. The drama still rages on, especially since a few unlucky upcoming devices, like the OnePlus 2 are still set to incorporate the troublesome chip, but Qualcomm seems to be cutting its losses and moving forward.

The next major step, of course, is the Snapdragon 820, which initially got announced at MWC 2015. It promises cutting edge performance and far better handling of overheating and throttling, a lesson which the manufacturer had to learn the hard way. Since then, news has mostly died out and the chip sunk into the realm of rumors. There were even talks of a sibling, dubbed the Snapdragon 815, but that was quickly denied.

The Snapdragon 820, however, is still on its way and a new report shows that it might be closer to consumer markets than ever. According to industry sources, an initial batch of chips has already been sent to a customer for testing. If everything pans out, we might start seeing the chipset in various devices shortly after.

Galaxy Ace 4

Samsung has officially Canceled Galaxy S4 mini Android 5.0 Lollipop update due to performance issues that will affect the user experience. Today, Samsung UK announced via its official Twitter account that the Galaxy Ace 4 won't get the Official Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Ace 4

So far, there is no official explanation for Canceling the Ace 4 Lollipop update, we assume that it's for the same reason as S4 mini, poor performance while running TouchWiz UI on Lollipop. This is the 2nd low-end device that doesn't get Lollipop update.

UPDATE [June,27th]

Samsung UK branch has confirmed to us that the Update for the Galaxy Ace 4 has been "Canceled", the device's firmware update didn't pass the Testing stage.

The Korean Giant always cares for its User's Experience and this update would've affected this experience. This is a Bad News for all Ace 4 owners around the world and we are very sorry for that.

MediaTek's high-end deca-core Helio X20 chipset (10-core) is set to make a debut in mid-October housed inside the Elephone P9000. The Chinese smartphone is expected to debut on October,20th with $500 price tag. The MediaTek Helio X20 deca-core chipset carries the model number MT6797. It follows the MediaTek Helio X10 MT6795 model with octa-core processor (16-cores CPU unit).

Mediatek

Helio X20 has an industry's first tri-cluster architecture which packs two Cortex-A72 processor cores clocked at 2.5 GHz for optimal performance, four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2GHz for striking a balance between performance and power consumption, and another four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.4GHz for power efficiency, The GPU will be Mali-T800.

P9000

Elephone P9000 will feature a 5.5" 1080p display, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage with memory card slot, 8MP front camera, 20.7MP rear snapper, and 3100 mAh battery. The device will be a dual-SIM handset with a dual-standby mode.

WiFi

Having an Internet access while flying is important to stay online while flying, either for work or just entertainment. Many major airlines now offer internet access to their passengers through an on-board Wi-Fi connection. Data is delivered via satellites or from ground-based cellular antennas beaming 3G/4G airwaves at the sky. However, its very expensive, starting from $30 per flight.

To make things easy, Here is a list of Airlines with free Wi-Fi internet access on their flights:

• Norwegian Airlines: has high-speed broadband on flights within Europe. The service is available on the company's Boeing 737-800 aircrafts.
• JetBlue: has all of its Airbus 321s and most of its A320 planes equipped with Wi-Fi gear. There's a catch, however. The free access option imposes restrictions on your connection. To go online at full speed, you'll have to buy a pass.
• Hongkong Airlines: has free Wi-Fi on its Airbus A330-200 aircraft operating from London to Hong Kong. The connection speed, however, is limited for those using a free pass.
• Air China: free Wi-Fi service comes with a catch. Passengers cannot connect to it from their smartphones as these are not allowed to be on during flights. Tablets and laptops, on the other hand, are A-OK.
• Nok Air: provides free Wi-Fi internet access on domestic flights throughout Thailand. The service is only available on two aircrafts, however.

5G systems

We all are using 4G LTE devices now, However, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is working on setting the standard and defining the specifications for the Next Generation 5G (5th Generation) Network.

Between June 10th and 18th, 12 delegates debated on the specifications to be established for the upcoming 5G network standard. The ITU has decided that 5G networks will have a peak speed of 20Gbps, or 20 times the peak speed specification of 4G LTE networks, which stands at 1Gbps.

5G Network

One thing to bear in mind is that these are theoretical max speeds, and that the first 5G networks will likely reach much lower peak speeds. At the moment, the fastest LTE standard is LTE Cat 9, which provides peak speeds of up to 300Mbps, well below the 1Gbps speed specification of 4G networks. What this means is that while crazy transfer speeds are to be expected, 5G subscribers will not be able to download an ultra high-definition movie in just a second, which is what a download speed of 20Gbps would mean if put into practice.

5G networks will also be built with internet-of-things (IoT) devices in mind, as the ITU has established that 5G networks will be able to cater to more than 1 million IoT devices inside a 1 square kilometre radius at an average speed of above 100Mbps. The ITU expects the first commercial 5G networks to start opening for business in 2020, although a working example is being prepared for the upcoming 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Games.
