Microsoft Nokia Deal

It's a Done Deal... Nokia has just announced the completion of the sale to Microsoft of all of its Devices & Services business to Microsoft. Substantially since two factories were excluded from the deal the Chennai factory in India, but also the Masan factory in South Korea. The deal underwent other changes too the final price is expected to be slightly higher than the initially announced €5.44 billion due to a positive adjustment in net working capital and cash earnings.

The South Korean factory employed roughly 200 people, but Nokia will be closing it down. The fate of the Chennai factory is unclear, but Nokia will be offering financial assistance to its employees so they can "explore opportunities outside Nokia starting from a sound financial base".

What's Next for Nokia ? we will see in the Net few weeks.

Nokia Web Tablet

It's true, there was a Nokia tablet in production 9 years before Apple's iPad, or 6 years before the Steve jobs introduce the iPhone. It almost happened, after what could be called the last minute, the plug was pulled after about 1,000 units were manufactured, and so the "Nokia M510 Web Tablet" would never reach the hands of consumers.

Consumers and families were the target of the M510. Esko Yliruusi was on the team that created the tablet, and was responsible for testing the communications capabilities of the device. He was attached to the project up to the point it was canceled in August 2001 and he left the company.

Nokia web tablet

The Nokia Web Tablet had a full set of features for hardware of its era. It was designed on an early build of Symbian, called Epoc. It featured native email, calendar, "noticeboard" (bulletin board), and Opera web-browser apps.

The user interface was touch-screen enabled, and also stylus enabled. There are function buttons and toggles on each side of the tablet. The screen was a full 10-inch 800x600 pixel LCD. There was enough battery power for 4 hours of use, which, if you remember the technology from 2001, meant the tablets weight of 4 pounds was perfectly reasonable.

Nokia Web Tablet logo

There was USB connectivity as well as ps/2 and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Connectivity was managed by a Nokia C111 Wi-Fi module providing 802.11b connections allowing speeds up to 11Mbps. The M510 even had a stand to keep it upright while it was on the table. In fact, you could say the tablet was ahead of its time to an extent. Nokia's market research was indicating there was no demand for the product and that was the reason why the project was canceled.

Of the 1,000 tablets that were produced, nearly all of them were sent to the crusher. Mr. Yliruusi believes there are about 130 surviving devices. Each member of the development team got their own, "I had a strong feeling that this one is a keeper. There were things in the device that were done just as they should be. I felt that we shall be hearing of gadgets like this."

Nokia 1100

Fun Fact, Did you know which phone is the best selling phone in the World ? Well, it's not an iPhone or a Samsung's Galaxy, it's not even an Android device... It's the Nokia 1100 the world's most popular phone with over than 250 million total sales worldwide, you probably have 5 of those lying around dead.

Nokia 1100 has a monochrome display with support for 4 lines of text and a resolution of 96 x 65 pixels. It had no browser, no camera, no mobile data, basically, it was just a phone for calling and texting. Oh, and it had 2 games on board.

Well, Nokia Lumia 930 build quality is probably the best in the market, it has a pretty tough display too. Its super-sensitive touchscreen adorned with Gorilla Glass 3 has in fact wonderfully survived a Fruit Ninja gameplay with a Knife, believe it or not. Video below proof it!

The Lumia 930′s touchscreen is touted as being very sensitive and can be used with gloves on, and apparently even with a knife. So the next iPhone may come with a revolutionary protection layer on top of its screen, but the current-gen Gorilla Glass 3 is nothing if not tough itself.

Microsoft CEO

Satya Nadella, Microsoft's CEO, announced today in an email to employees that the company is preparing to layoff a total of 18,000 people within the next year.

Additionally, Stephen Elop, chief of Microsoft devices, also announced that the Nokia X Android project is over. Future Nokia X designs and products will be shifted to Windows Phone devices. He notes that the company will make the shift immediately, but support and sales for existing Nokia X products will remain.

There's no further information on what's the destiny of the recently announced Nokia X2. It's an existing product technically, so it should go on sale, but given the new developments Microsoft might as well cancel it. After all, we doubt anyone will be interested in buying into the platform now that it's officially pronounced dead.

HTC M8 Ace

Interesting News. According to Engadget report, HTC will announce a budget smartphone with Plastic unibody and same Samsung Galaxy S5 Specifications but with a lower Price. The device will be called HTC M8 Ace and it aims to compete with Samsung's flagship in the market.

Offering exactly the same Specs as the S5 but with lower price will be a huge threat to Samsung. Since HTC is known for its Great Sense 6 UI which is far better then Samsung's TouchWiz, and also its amazing build quality even with plastic, HTC still have better build quality than Samsung in most of its devices. HTC will still have its own flagship device One M8 in the top.

Most importantly, the launch price of the HTC M8 Ace is said to be around $480.This means that the M8 Ace will significantly undercut the Samsung Galaxy S5 when available. Sounds like a tough competition is coming!

Will you replace your S5 with HTC M8 Ace ?

Will you prefer the M8 Ace over the Galaxy S5 ?

HTC One mini 2

HTC has just Officially revealed the HTC One mini 2 which is the mini version of its latest flagship HTC One M8. The HTC One mini 2 has the same design and build quality as the M8 but lacks some of the key features and of course with lower performance comparing to its big brother, the M8.

HTC One mini 2

The One mini 2 sports a much smaller chassis than the One M8, packing a 4.5" display with 720x1280 pixels of resolution. The rest of the specs make it a decent midranger, too, as the munchkin sports a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of internal storage (12 GB user-available). This time HTC has provided a microSD card slot, too, which alone makes it a worthy upgrade from last year's One mini.

htc one mini 2

Add to these the new 5 MP wide-angle front camera, the BoomSound stereo speakers at the front, plus a larger, 2100 mAh battery, and the One mini 2 becomes a serious contender in the crowded midrange category. The handset runs on the latest Android 4.4 KitKat, with Sense 6.0 sprinkled on top.

HTC One mini 2 will be available for a price of $450 Next Month (June,2014). You can Check One mini 2 Full Specifications HERE.

HTC One E8

HTC unveiled the long rumored M8 Ace for a worldwide audience and under a simpler name HTC One E8. That's right, consumers will have to pay attention to the stuff in brackets or they risk getting a rather different device.

The One E8 has a plastic unibody instead of an aluminum one, but has the same elegant dual curve as its metal sibling. The dimensions are about the same except the plastic model is a bit thicker (9.9mm vs. 9.4mm), but lighter (145g vs. 160g).

HTC One E8

The One E8 is powered by a Snapdragon 801 chipset. It's not clear if it's the same chipset as in the One M8 with a 2.3GHz CPU or the one from the One Vogue Edition with a 2.5GHz CPU. Either way, there's 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage expandable with microSD cards of up to 128GB.

The HTC One E8 has a 13MP main camera with a BSI sensor, f/2.2 aperture and a single-LED flash. The front-facing camera takes 5MP selfies with a BSI sensor of its own, both cameras are capable of 1080p video. This is essentially the same setup as the One mini 2 and Desire 816, rather than the 4MP Duo camera on the One M8.

HTC One E8

HTC One E8 will come in Black, Red and White. The final major difference between M8 and E8 is that the new phone has dual-SIM connectivity. It takes two nanoSIMs, both with quad-band GSM connectivity. The second SIM will also do quad-band 3G with HSPA+ (up to 42Mbps downlink) and 4G LTE. The LTE connectivity will only work on Chinese networks, though. The device will be on the market by the end of this month.

Android L

The gang at XDA have just ported Android L to the HTC One M7. The work was done shortly after Google released the developer preview images of the next Android build for the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7. The port, though, is in Alpha stage which means that many of the features and applications do not work.

HTC M7

Because ramdisk and kernel modifications were made to accommodate Android L on the HTC One M7, there is a good chance that the phone won't run like you would expect it to. If you want to take the chance, you can click on the sourcelink for all of the directions.

Right now, the features not working include Wi-Fi, data, Bluetooth, sensors, camera and sound. GPS, though, is working.

There aren't any photos to show this alleged red One M8 (the one above is photoshop), although we imagine it won't look too different from last year's red HTC One.

If not, we guess that non-Verizon customers will have to make do with the new One's color options that were announced until now: gunmetal grey, glacial silver, and amber gold.

HTC One M8

Jason Mackenzie, HTC America president, said to CNET today that sales of the new HTC One M8 smartphone were still going strong in the third and fourth weeks of availability, following the handset's initial March,25th release. Of course, Mackenzie only talks about activations in the US, so at the moment we can't tell if the One M8 is as successful in other markets.

We also don't know exactly how many One M8 units were sold until now. However, Jason Mackenzie said that these last weeks outperformed almost every week of the sales of the HTC One M7 (2013), except for a couple of weeks when US carriers offered back-to-school deals.

So it looks like the arrival of Samsung Galaxy S5 (launched in the US on April,11th) didn't affect demand for the One M8. This, however, doesn't mean that much if Samsung's handsets continue to outsell HTC's devices like it happened last year.

One M8

HTC latest flagship, One M8, is a real improvements in the terms of design from the One M7. The full Aluminum unibody gives the phone a premium feel in your hand.

The HTC One M8 comes in three colours. The lead one, "Gunmetal Grey" is seen here. HTC also makes one that looks more like the first silvery HTC One, with a shade called "Arctic Silver", and a light gold one dubbed "Amber Gold" which is my favorite, the bight golden panel around the device is really cool.

M8 Materials

The Materials used on the M8 have slightly different metal treatments. The grey model uses a brushed hairline technique look, while the others stick with anodised style of the former HTC One model. HTC is already preparing to launch 3 new colors Red, Blue and Pink.

M8 Prime

An alleged 360-degree photo of the HTC One M8 Prime leaked by @evleaks. The photos is yet to be confirmed, no comments pr news from HTC so far. If these photo are true, the M8 Prime will be pack the same duo camera as the current M8 with a light improvements according to the rumors.

M8 Prime

The raised camera bump in the back does seem a bit conspicuous, especially since it is highlighted by a bright, almost neon-orange ring of paint, and seems like an odd design choice.

It can't be a purely aesthetic decision on HTC's part, and probably means that the HTC One M8 Prime's camera sensor is larger than the 4MP unit currently offered on the One M8's duo-camera. Again, at this point, it is all speculation, but it does seem likely that HTC would improve upon the One M8 Prime's camera, as consumers and reviewers alike have criticized the duo unit.

We already got the full Specs list of the M8 Prime that was leaked yesterday.

HTC One M8 Dual-SIM

A Dual-SIM variant of the HTC One M8 has been certified by the Russian FCC, the Russian Federal Communication Agency (ROSCOM). We don't have a model number yet or any specifications change yet.

m8

A listing on the Russian Federal Communication Agency website reveals the dual SIM HTC One M8. For some reason, and it might simply be a translation problem, the phone is listed as having a removable 2600mAh battery. All versions of the device that we have seen, have a non-removable cell.

There is no word on when the dual SIM HTC One M8 will be launched in Russia, although the fact that it has been certified by ROSCOM probably indicates that a release of the device isn't too far away.

M8 DotView

Earlier this year, when HTC announced its One M8 flagship smartphone, it also unveiled a brand new and interesting case called Dot View. At the moment, Dot View is compatible only with the One M8, but it looks like it's coming to more HTC devices. And while that may not be too interesting, the handsets that are reportedly compatible with the Dot View case are certainly newsworthy.

evleaks

According to an image posted by @evleaks, the "Dot View Premium" case is compatible with the following devices: M8, M8 Ace, B2, W8, and Eye.

The existence of the last three handsets hasn't been confirmed by HTC, but we heard that the W8 could be the company's first Windows Phone 8.1 product, while the HTC Eye is supposed to be an Android-based "selfie phone." As for the B2, this could be a new HTC Butterfly.

High-quality 3D model renders exclusively published by uSwitch Tech have given all the mobile enthusiasts the 360-degree view of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and it is rumored that the smartphone could be available in the market as early as February 2016.

Displaying the larger ‘Plus' variant of the Galaxy S7, the renders which were released by @OnLeaks, known as Steve Hemmerstoffer from nowhereelse.fr emphasizes that they're from the source can be highly trusted. They are based on detailed blueprints which were given to third-party accessory manufacturers before phone's launch.

The blueprints help case-makers to make sure that the device accessories manufactured by them will be compatible with the final device.

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) features a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution whereas Xiaomi Mi 5 has slightly larger screen of 5.7-inch IPS LCD display with a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution, both displaying high quality images. From the leak it can be seen that there will be a standard micro-USB charging port instead of USB Type-C along with the same camera placement, speaker grills and there won't be any microSD slot. The primary difference is that the home button seems more rectangular and squared off at the corners, as well as little bit wider overall.

Samsung may lift the curtain from Galaxy S7 duo on February 21, just about a week before the MWC. This may pave the way for Samsung to return to Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets (for some SKUs) and use a big BRITECELL snapper.

Smartphones are a major part of our lives, and even though we know them well they often hold secrets. The Samsung S7 which is an Android device is powerful to do everything you need, though you may not know what all of these things are. In this article we're looking at some of the little secrets that are held within the phone which you may find useful.

Personalising your Home Screen

Your home screen is your first destination on your phone so it is important to have everything you need on it; you also want to find that perfect wallpaper for it. Did you know it was possible to personalise it to fit your needs quickly? Simple press the image for a few seconds and you'll be able to change not only the wallpaper but also the theme as well. If you want to fit more widgets and shortcuts on your screen, you can also change the grid size meaning you can have up to 25 items on the screen at the same time.

Block Swearing

There are times you may need to censor swear words off your phone, and there is an actual way to do this with a simple trick. Go to Settings, then click on Language and Input. From this point go to Google Voice Typing, and choose Block Offensive Words. This should help relieve any problems you have with swearing on your phone.

Creating New and Customising Folders

When your screen starts to get cluttered, the way to fix this is through the creation of folders. While it may not be obvious how to create these on the fly, all you actually have to do is hold your finger on one app then slide it over another and release. You can then drag any other apps into that folder. To remove one, hold your finger on an app until it is selected, then drag it out.

Setting up Notifications

Anybody who uses a smartphone will know the annoying nature of notifications. On the Samsung Galaxy S7 it is possible to handle how the notifications will appear and how they are handled. To make them more easy to handle go to Settings, Notifications and then you will have access to all App notifications, as well as the ability to turn them off or on again. It's not hard to make a few changes that will make your smartphone life a lot less annoying, and may even help with the battery life of your phone.

There are some other secrets hidden away on your Samsung Galaxy S7 so be sure to hunt them out. Once you have your phone working as you want it, you'll be able to get back to a game of Candy Crush Saga, or even a game of Rainbow Riches if that is your game of choice. The important thing is to gain control of your phone and make it work for you, rather than having it control your life.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is clearly the most anticipated Android smartphone of the year and consequently, the rumors surrounding the upcoming flagship are plenty. We have practically been handed down the entire specification sheet of the Galaxy S7 in the form of rumors, but yet there is nothing official about it. Most recently, a new rumor has joined the ranks of its predecessors and it has allegedly come straight from a Samsung employee.

According to this source, all S7 smartphones will be encased in a premium black frame. The S7 will apparently feature a non-protruding 12 megapixel rear camera that's capable of taking exceptional low-light pictures, thanks to its f/1.7 aperture. If he is to be believed, then this would actually be a downgrade in regard to the megapixel count because the S6 featured an excellent 16 megapixel camera last year. However, our source maintains that the new 12 megapixel camera will produce better overall results due to a larger and better sensor.

The rest of the specs, as uttered by the "Samsung employee," more or less match the rumors that we have heard so far about the S7. This includes water and dust resistance, fingerprint sensor, expandable memory, QHD Super AMOLED display, Exynos 8890 chipset, multiple size variants and a glass-metal build. How much of this actually turns out to be true is a question that will probably be answered at the MWC in February.

The Galaxy A9 Pro is supposedly an upcoming smartphone from Samsung, which will sport a supersized Quad High Definition display. According to Sam Mobile, it will be an upgraded version of the Galaxy A9; that is already rocking the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 chipset. The A9 Pro will allegedly have the model number SM-A9100, which seems logical as the recently released A9 had the model number SM-A9000. If you consider the fact that the A9 already has a huge display which measures at 6-inches, anything larger could simply be too large to be called a phone for most people.

The A9 is still running on Lollipop, but speculations about the A9 Pro indicate that it could be loaded with Android 6.0 marshmallow, out of the box. If you are wondering as to why none of your local or online retailers are selling even the Galaxy A9 yet, then rest assured that so far, it is only being released and sold in China for about $490 - $500. Reports from Sam Mobile indicate that the A9 Pro will also be released in China first, if it really is in the making of course! We will keep you posted on the latest news regarding the A9 Pro's specs and release dates in different geographical locations, as soon as more news comes in.

Apple vs. Samsung

You probably know about the Samsung vs. Apple trial of the century that has been going for than 3 years. New Information form a Google lawyer who testified during the currently going trial confirms that Google will Help Samsung's legal defense team in the currently ongoing trial against Apple as part of a contractual obligation between the two tech firms.

Google will take over the defense of some of Apple's patent infringement claims. The search giant will also indemnify Samsung in case it loses on those particular claims.

Android vs iOS

Google's move is hardly a surprise. Although the company is not named in Apple's lawsuit, most of the trial has to do with Android and its functionality. Top Google engineers have already been summoned to testify that Android was developed independently from iOS. Samsung is making big profits from selling Android devices, while Google makes money indirectly from ads and services while in the same time it distributing the OS for free.

Galaxy S5

Samsung vs. Apple Ads since the S3 launch is still pretty funny to watch, but now its for the Galaxy S5 "The Next Big Thing". The latest Ad posted by Samsung Mobile US takes informative angle to the new Samsung Galaxy S5, and it throws a barb at the iPhone for good measure.

The full minute ad will certainly get edited for a slew of 30-second spots to get wider TV distribution, but what cannot be discounted is the clear bomb thrown at Apple's iPhone when it comes time to talk about the camera. Watch the Video below if you are a Samsung phone, if you're not, you better just ignore it.

Samsung King

Samsung released its first Quarter earnings report of this year (Q1,2014). In line with the earnings guidance from earlier this month, the Korean giant posted a net profit of 8.5 trillion won which is about $8.2 billion from total revenue of 53.68 trillion won about $51.8 billion of revenue in the last three months.

The company's net profit took a 3% dip compared to the same period last year. Samsung attributed the second straight fall of quarterly profit to a weakness in the market for flat-screen panels and maturing high-end smartphone segment.

Samsung

Samsung is no doubt a mobile powerhouse, the latest IDC quarterly update gives us a look into just how much of a powerhouse the Korean manufacturer is. 30.3% of total smartphone market share is controlled by Samsung, which is about 85 million units, in Q1 2014.

All "other" smartphones account for 40.5% of the market share, but these are hardly the bigger players that pose a threat to Samsung's current market dominance.

IDC predicts that smartphone shipments will reach 1.2 billion units, total, for 2014; a 200 million increase from last year. This is due to growth in the smartphone market and the constant spread of new models entering the market, especially low-range handsets.

Galaxy S5 & Galaxy S4

On May 11, Samsung's current flagship Galaxy S5 will have been available on the market for exactly one Month (launched April,11th). We do know that the first day sales of the Galaxy S5 were significantly higher than the first day sales of Samsung's last year flagship, the Galaxy S4. At the same time, the launch weekend sales of the device also beat the ones of its greatest rival, the Apple iPhone 5s.

S5 vs. S4

In this line of thought, it is quite curious to compare the overall adoption rates of the two devices, the S4 and the S5, for a bigger amount of time and see if the trend is still present. Luckily, the folks at Chitika, an online advertising network, released a statistical report that gives us more insight on the matter. According to Chitika, the Galaxy S5 accounted for 4.3% of all Samsung smartphone web traffic in North America just 25 days after it got launched, from April 11 throughout May 5. which is more than Double what the Galaxy S4 had 2.0% only in one month after it released.

The Galaxy S5 will undoubtedly be one of the hits on the smartphone market this year, but Samsung's rivals won't stay idle on the contrary, their smartphones are going to fight tooth and nail with the Galaxy S5 for a bigger share of the market.

Galaxy S3 KitKat ROM

Samsung officially announced that it won't update its Galaxy S3 I9300 smartphone to Android 4.4. KitKat due to unresolved Hardware limitations issues, which came as sad news for the S3 users worldwide. Today, thanks to the Android XDA community, you can Now get Android 4.4. KitKat on your Galaxy S3 I9300 through a custom ROM. As long as you don't have an issue with rooting your device and following the instructions on the forum (source link below), then you'll be able to enjoy KitKat on your S3.

However, as with most custom ROMs, the KitKat ROM for the S3 isn't perfect. There are still some stability and usability issues, and not all features of the phone may function properly. Users may experience some glitches as well. However, if nearly all previous custom ROMs are any indication, the KitKat S3 ROM will get better with time as the community continues to work out the kinks.

Android KitKat 4.4.3

It's interesting to note that the KitKat ROM file is too large to fit onto the Galaxy S3's internal storage; Samsung's pre-loaded bloatware is primarily to blame. Once it was removed, the hackers were able to successfully port it without any storage space issues.

Samsung 64-bit

Ever since Apple introduced the industry's first 64-bit processor with the iPhone 5s, silicon slingers have been in a state of emergency, or that's at least what multiple accounts seem to suggest. While those initially attempted to laugh off 64-bit chips publicly, it eventually became obvious that, much like anything else in the industry, the rest must follow. You may call it herd mentality, but it probably has a lot more to do with pure business than anything else.

Either ways, the current silicon king in the mobile space, Qualcomm, didn't take long to announce it's own plans to make the jump towards 64-bit processors, with processors like the Snapdragon 410, 610, 615, 808, and 815, all of which will be based on ARM's new 64-bit architecture. And while chip development usually takes a long time, we're already getting the first real hints that the first slew of devices powered by Qualcomm's 64-bit chips are around the corner.

More specifically, a recent run through the GFXBench benchmarking suite left traces of a Samsung device that was powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 chip and an Adreno 306 GPU.

Samsung 64-bit specs

The rest of the specs powering this still mysterious Samsung device (SM-G510F) include a 4.8-inch, 540 x 960 (qHD) resolution display, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage. As for imaging, the SM-G510F makes do with an 8-megapixel rear snapper capable of 1080p video capture, and a 5MP front-facing selfie cam. Lastly, the device in question ran Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Samsung Galaxy F

The Upcoming Samsung flagship premium device with QHD display, Samsung Galaxy F, has been leaked on a press Render Photo (above) showing its Golden Premium Glory. Samsung already released Galaxy S5 LTE-A with QHD Display but this is completely New device, the first on the "F" family.

The new image allegedly reveals a Samsung Galaxy F in "Glowing Gold" which seems to be a different hue than the golden one that appeared last week. Like the render seen then, the new one shows the same September 12 date on the handset's home screen. Maybe that's when Samsung intends to announce the Galaxy F? We don't know for now, but that is a possibility.

Unlike the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A, the Galaxy F reportedly has a metal-made body. Apart from that, though, it's said that the unannounced smartphone will offer similar features, including a Snapdragon 805 processor, and 3GB of RAM. However, the Quad HD display of the Galaxy F might be a bit bigger, measuring 5.3 inches, not 5.1 inches.

Galaxy F

We are still waiting for Samsung's Luxury Galaxy F series. Today, we got a little teaser, a sneak peak at the upcoming Galaxy F smartphone with all its unibody-metal glory. A new photo has been leaked, that clearly shows metallic sides. This leads us to the thought that, despite the S5 LTE-A announcement, the Galaxy F is slowly turning from a vaporware into a metal-clad warrior that we can't wait to meet.

The Samsung Galaxy F phone rumored Specs is a 5.5" Super AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution, and the newest Snapdragon 805 processor along with a 3 GB Ram but nothing is confirmed until the final release which will be by the end of this month.

For the purpose of convincing Galaxy S III owners to upgrade to a Galaxy S5, Samsung has posted some video ads on its official YouTube channel. Each one focuses on a different area in which the new phone bests the old one.

Samsung lays everything out, though. We get to see that the S5 has a higher-res camera than its ancestor, and apparently that means you'll capture some amazing details in your pictures. HDR mode gets a shout-out too. Check the videos below!

Samsung Exynos

Samsung Tomorrow teased a new Exynos announcement today via its official Exynos Twitter account. The tweet is very short, with just a teasing text and a cool picture.

The new Exynos chipset might be the rumored Exynos 5433 Octa-core 64-bit tipped to power the upcoming Galaxy Note 4. The 5433 chip is also rumored to pack an Intel model capable of Cat.6 LTE connectivity and an octa-core processor with four Cortex-A15 and four Cortex-A7 cores.

If all this rumors about Exynos 5433 are true, then the added LTE capabilities will allow Samsung to ship the device in even more markets than its previous Exynos-powered Samsung Galaxy S4, Note 3 and Galaxy S5.

Galaxy Apps Logo

The Samsung Apps store changed its name to the "Galaxy Apps" store on the web on July 1st, but Samsung just got around to pushing an update to its Android phones and tablets. And, Android is the key here.

Samsung Apps

As Samsung gets ready to introduce more devices running its own Tizen OS, it would get confusing to have a Samsung Apps store. So, the app store for Android devices now will be the Galaxy Apps store. We don't yet know what branding will come along with Tizen, or if Tizen will be the name for everything.

Samsung Galaxy F

Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A was Korea's Exclusive Edition of long rumored Galaxy F. Now, It seems like the International version, Samsung Galaxy F G901F, has just received its Bluetooth certification. The Samsung Galaxy F was rumored to have a premium metal body and we've seen several photos claiming to be the Galaxy F. Now there's a new contender for the throne, which looks almost exactly like the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 with a metal rim but faux plastic back.

Samsung Galaxy F

Along with the certification comes alternative specs for the "Samsung Galaxy F" 4.7-inch 1080p Super AMOLED, Exynos 5 Octa chipset, 12MP camera and a slender 6mm thick frame. This would make the "F" a compact flagship rather than a Galaxy S5 alternative. Keep in mind that Samsung execs are still denying the existence of a Galaxy F.

Exynos ModAP

The Samsung-made Exynos chipset has only one problem hen comes to connectivity, it doesn't support 4G LTE and Samsung had to release two versions of the same device (one with Exynos chipset and the other with Snapdragon chipset with LTE support). Today, Samsung announced Exybos ModAP which is the first Exynos Chipset with LTE Cat.4 integrated. ModAP stands from "Modem and Application Processor", underlining the departure of previous setups where the modem was a separate chip.

The Exynos ModAP is built on a 28nm HKMG process. The processor supports Heterogeneous Multi-Processing (HMP), which allows all eight of its cores to work simultaneously (4x Cortex-A15 + 4x Cortex-A7).

Exynos ModAP

The modem also uses the more is better than one approach and supports carrier aggregation, meaning it bonds together multiple channels to achieve the LTE Cat. 4 prescribed speeds of 150Mbps downlink and 50Mbps uplink. The modem supports both FDD and TDD, popular internationally and in China respectively. 2G and 3G technologies are supported as well, including TD-SCDMA.

The chipset can record 2160p video at 30fps and has a relatively speedy 6.4GB/s channel RAM. The GPU was not mentioned but a recent Mali model would be a solid guess.

Galaxy Alpha

A new Report about a Full-Metal body Galaxy Smartphone line came from the South Korean site ETnews.com. The Report doesn't have much details but cites industry insiders who claim that the Samsung Galaxy Alpha will be unveiled on August 13th, which is only a month away.

The Alpha line is intended to compete with the Apple iPhone by swapping Samsung's usual faux leather back for a metal chassis. Various purported images show an all-metal back, while others show a metal frame with plastic panels.

Galaxy Alpha

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha phone will be powered by the new Snapdragon 805 chipset used in the Galaxy S5 LTE-A and presumably in the Samsung G901 Galaxy F, which may or may not be the first of the Galaxy Alpha series.

S4

The plain, 'vanilla' Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini still hasn't been on the receiving end of the update to Android 4.4 KitKat. This despite the fact that the S4 Mini Black Edition started getting the new software in mid-June.

And today it's the dual-SIM version's turn. Yes, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos is now in the process of being updated to what is still the latest version of Android.

Unfortunately though, the rollout is limited to Russia for now. So if you bought your Galaxy S4 Mini Duos from there, you should get a notification about the new Android version any day now. After applying the update, you'll be on software build I9192XXUCNG2.

Samsung Premium Headphone

Samsung moves into the high-end headphones scene with the release of their Level headphones. The lineup consists of 3 models of headphones over-ear, on-ear and in-ear.

Samsung Premium In

Level-Over is the top of the crop, costing $349.99, the Bluetooth over-ear headset seems to offer all the bells and whistles Sammy could come up with. The headphones sport a touch panel on the side, which allows the user to quickly skip between songs, control volume, play/pause, and activate S-Voice, all through swiping gestures. The set supports quick NFC pairing to your smartphone. Other mentioned features are the Active Noise Cancellation - an EQ circuit, which cancels all outside noise, while preserving a clean sound, Samsung says; and a Volume Monitor, which takes care to not overexpose your ears to high volumes. Of course, how good these two are at their job remains to be seen.

Samsung Head

Level-On is the mid-tier offering and is a wired set, which Samsung touts to be elegant, compact, simplistic, and ergonomic, though it carries none of the features of its higher-tier sibling. That is somewhat understandable, since this headset's priced at $179.99, which is almost a 50% price drop, still we would've preferred to see it sport at least the touch-panel.

Level-In, as you might have already guessed by the overly "intricate" naming scheme, is the in-ear offering at $149.99. Not much to say about these, besides their use of an independent 3-way speaker system and a generous amount of in-ear tip sizes, which we believe should go without saying, given the price point.

Samsung S4

A bad advertising on Fox News for Samsung caused by a 13 years-old Texas girl, who kept her Samsung Galaxy S4 under her pillow, was awoken by the smell of something burning. Unfortunately, it was her Samsung Galaxy S4 that was the source of the acrid smelling smoke. The S4 burned completely and the battery melted down too.

The cause of the fire? The Tolfree family blames a replacement battery for the incident. There was no word on whether the replacement cell was an authorized replacement. Last year, there was a series of incidents that took place where Apple iPhone and Apple iPad users received shocks (at least one was fatal), supposedly from the use of unauthorized third party battery chargers.

"Covering the device with bedding, your body, thick clothing or any other materials that significantly affect air flow may affect the performance of the phone and poses a possible risk of fire or explosion, which could lead to serious bodily injuries or damage to property." - Samsung warning on included Safety Notes.

Galaxy ALPHA

Surprise, Samsung Galaxy ALPHA SM-G850F paid a visit to the FCC today and its First live-photos. This Premium handset has a premium high-quality build with a metal body.

Galaxy ALPHA

According to the Federal Commission, the Galaxy Alpha measures 133 x 67 mm, thus being smaller than the Galaxy S5 (which measures 142 x 72.5 mm). This makes perfect sense, because the Alpha reportedly sports a 4.8-inch 720p display, not a 5.1-inch 1080p one like the S5. While the FCC doesn't say how thick the Alpha is, we know that the smartphone should be about 6 mm thin hence thinner than Apple's iPhone 5s.

Galaxy ALPHA

The SM-G850F that was tested by the FCC features Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi, and LTE (bands 2 and 5). This is a model that's not made for North America but that doesn't mean the Galaxy Alpha won't be released in the US. Most likely, the handset will be available via AT&T and T-Mobile.

24K Gold S5

Today, Samsung Mobile U.S. tweeted a photo of T-Mobile CEO John Legere with a 24K Gold finished Samsung Galaxy S5. Mr. Legere tweeted a picture of himself smiling and holding his new golden S5 on twitter later.

The device was a given to Mr. Legere as a gift from Samsung US just for the publicity, as HTC already gave him a 24K Golden HTC One M8 on friday.. So Samsung didn't gave up and did exactly the same! I wonder which one he'll use the Golden M8 or the Golden S5, Both are pretty expensive and slightly heavy!

Paypal S5

Samsung launched the Galaxy S5 with a fingerprint sensor, if you looked at the specifications you'll that its "Fingerprint sensor (PayPal certified)". Today, PayPal announced that fingerprint-based payments using the Samsung Galaxy S5's fingerprint scanner are Now Available in 25 countries.

S5 PayPal

PayPal's system works by letting S5 owners log-in and authorize payments with a swipe over the smartphone's home button (Watch video Demo below). No password entry fields, no dotted-out passwords, and hopefully, no worries are to be found from now on. As PayPal has always been heavily scrutinized for its security practices, the company is enthusiastically communicates the system's robustness.

"Customers can use their finger to pay with PayPal from their new Samsung Galaxy S5 because the FIDO Ready software on the device securely communicates between the fingerprint sensor on their device and PayPal's service in the cloud. The only information the device shares with PayPal is a unique encrypted key that allows PayPal to verify the identity of the customer without having to store any biometric information on PayPal's servers." - John Lunn, Chief of PayPal X UK.

But How Samsung Test its Smartphone Body structure and quality ?... Samsung has shed some light on what the Galaxy S5 test facilities look like and how it was used to make sure the flagship is as great as possible.

Samsung test

One of the primary concerns of every certification authority is the emitted radiation, so Samsung naturally has this room for such testing purposes (Photo above). The liquid imitates human fluids, while the probe measures the radiation. The last room is where the engineers measure how a device's radiation affects other on common electronics.

We have some Exclusive footage from inside the Samsung Huge Test facility. Enjoy it!

Galaxy S5 After a Drop Test

Samsung Galaxy S5 is waterproof, dust-proof and has a scratch proof Gorilla Glass... but how does it handle a real-life drop. This Extreme Drop Test shows how much the device can takes before it dies.

In this test the Samsung Galaxy S5 was dropped two-stories. Would the phone survive? As you would expect, the display was shattered, the casing was bent and there were scratches in a few areas. But Surprisingly, the S5 still worked. Even as smartphones become loaded up with more and more features, and the circuitry becomes more complex, the build quality is improving to the point where a two-story drop might not be enough to kill a handset.

The Galaxy S5 has a built-in "Download Booster" Mode that allows you to use the speeds of Wi-Fi and 4G LTE networks combined to give you a boost to download big files faster if you'rein a hurry.

How To Enable S5 Download Booster:

  1. Turn ON Mobile Data Connection (LTE).
  2. Turn ON Wi-Fi connection, and connect to a Network.
  3. Slide down from the top to bring the notification shade.
  4. Slide the Toggles to the left, that's where the "Download Booster" mode resides (by default).

The "Download Booster" could be a useful feature for those times when you need to get files as quickly as possible, but make sure to use it with caution.

According to a report from The Korea Times, Samsung is expecting to ship 35 million Galaxy S5 units between April and June (Q2, 2014). This high prediction is a result of the strong sales achieved by the device during its worldwide launch.

The high number of shipped Galaxy S5 devices is estimated to create more than $16.3 billion of Q2 revenue for the manufacturer. Unsurprisingly, the above numbers have impressed industry analysts, who now predict better than expected Q2 earnings for Samsung.

Galaxy S5

Samsung revealed 10 Hidden features on the Galaxy S5 that weren't really advertised in its promotion, have been released today. Here's the list of these features that you might didn't know about.

s5

1. You can write on it with a pencil. The screen is so sensitive to touch that you could use an actual pencil point to write on it. Why anyone would want to scratch up their screen and simultaneously stain it with lead, is of course, beyond us. All you need to do is dig into the menu settings and increase the device's touch sensitivity.

s5

2. Tilt to make a playlist: That's right, if you're listening to a certain type of song and then tilt your phone horizontally, your Galaxy S5 will automatically look for songs that are stored in your phone that are similar to the one you're listening to. This makes setting the perfect music, for the perfect mood, an easier endeavor. If it works correctly, that is.

s5

3. You can use Toolbox to create a small sidebar that displays your favorite apps when you press and hold the small white icon that hovers across all pages on your home-screen . Samsung Touchwiz users from back in the day will remember this little set up from older, non-Android, Samsung touchscreen handsets. Just enable it in your settings and you can get to toolboxing.

S5 privacy

4. The Galaxy S5 has a privacy mode: you can hide certain documents or pictures that only become accessible with a certain unlock pattern. You just need to go into the settings, select which files you want protected, and then enter a special unlock pattern or pin code. When you unlock your phone, you or whoever has access to it won't be able to see these files unless that special unlock code has been entered.

S5

5. The Galaxy S5 has a kids mode: You need to download the Kids mode app and when you do, you can turn your Galaxy S5 into a more child-friendly, cute multimedia device for your little ones. It features a simplified, cute design that is easier to children to navigate, special applications that you can download only for kids, app permissions that you set, and even set a time limit for how long they can use the phone.

s5

6. Access your camera right from the lock screen by swiping the camera icon to the side. You'll go straight into camera mode, saving you a bit of time to capture that picture perfect moment before it eludes you.

s5

7. Virtual Tour, Shot & More Mode: The Galaxy S5's camera now allows you to create .gif like images that help you to create a "virtual tour". You take multiple photos of different areas to combine a type of "tour" to show your friends and family. Pretty cool panoramic stuff. Shot and more just allows you to edit your pictures and add effects immediately after you take them.

8. You can set your priority contacts with "Priority Senders". The top people you message in your messaging app can be set up top, so you have easier access to the ones you reach out to most.

9. You can also check the information of a caller while you're already talking on the phone. So any communication you've had with them, their email address, or whatever info you have saved on your phone, can be displayed at any time.

s5

10. The S5 also provides "Call Notification Pop-ups", and you can receive an in-call pop up while you're using another application, without having to exit the application.

S5

The Samsung Galaxy S5 launched globally on April 11 and just One week after launch (11-18,April) it grew to represent 0.7% of all active Android phones Globally, according to the analyst firm Localytics. This compares to the 1.1% of all active iPhones that the iPhone 5s managed in its first week of sale.

s5

Still, it's important to note that Android encompasses a larger number of manufacturers and the Number of Active Android Handsets in the World is Far Greater than the Total Active iPhones devices in the world. Localytics suggests that the busy Android landscape is partly responsible for the proportionally slower growth of the new Samsung flagship.

s5

For comparison, the predecessor to the Galaxy S5, the Galaxy S4, currently holds a 51% market share in the United States, 28% in Europe and 21% in all remaining countries.

s5 vs m8

Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8 is the hottest devices on the market right now. However, here's a list of 5 Galaxy S5 features that you won't find in the One M8:

1- High-resolution camera

camera

We can all agree that megapixels aren't the primary factor when it comes to the quality of a camera's images, but they sure are important. At least that's what we've come to learn by examining the HTC One (M8)'s 4 MP UltraPixel shooter and the GS5's 16 MP camera. Fact is that the higher resolution of the S5's pictures translates into way more visible detail.
High-resolution camera

2- IP 67 certification

Sure, the One (M8) cannot be scared by a few drops of water, but how about having a swim? Well, that's a strict no-no. However, that's absolutely possible with the Galaxy S5 which is IP 67 certified, meaning that it's completely dust-proof, and can be submerged in up to 1 meter of water for as long as 30 minutes. Not that you're advised to try it, but the comfort of knowing your device isn't in constant danger can be valuable.

3- Fingerprint sensor

Although it may not be the perfect implementation, the fingerprint sensor of the Galaxy S5 is still there, and can be used for things like secure unlocking and PayPal purchase authorization. Yes, it may not work each and every time, and yes it requires you to swipe with moderate speed, instead of just touch, but hey - it's better than having no fingerprint sensor at all, right?

4- Removable battery

History has proven that the lack of a removable battery isn't a deal-breaker for most users out there, but for a tech-savvy person, being able to remove and swap the battery of a mobile device on the fly can be priceless, especially if you're used to watching a lot of video or playing games throughout the day. That's one thing that the One (M8)'s attractive aluminum body cannot offer you.

5- USB 3.0 port

We have to admit that Samsung is a pioneer when it comes to incorporating USB 3.0 in smartphones. After the Galaxy Note 3, the manufacturer has decided to include support for the new USB standard in its Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone, and that's great news, since it's going to allow faster transfer speeds and faster charging through the USB port of a computer. Meanwhile, the One (M8) can only offer you a good old USB 2.0 connection.
