After a short stint on the throne, OnePlus has now been dethroned by Samsung again, as the Korean giant managed to regain their number one status in the world's second largest smartphone market.

Now, Samsung never really lost its position as the supreme smartphone manufacturer as far as over all sales was concerned, but it did temporarily lose the throne to OnePlus, as far in the premium sector of the Indian smartphone market.

For the last three-quarters (Q2, 2018 - Q4, 2018) OnePlus led the smartphone sales figures in the premium segment, but according to a study by Counterpoint, Samsung is now back on top again.

This isn't exactly bad news for OnePlus mind you, but it is good news for Samsung nonetheless. The thing is, while this does again put Samsung on top of the market in the premium segment, we have to keep in mind that OnePlus has not released any new phones in 2019, while Samsung has launched the Galaxy S10 series with three separate phones this time around!

Once the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro is released though, the tables could turn again by the end of Q2, 2019. We will just have to wait and see about that one, but for now, Samsung is back on top in India.
