OnePlus, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer famed for building cutting edge handsets without the expensive price tag has been reportedly working on a budget model for several months now.

The company made a big splash when it launched its first phone in 2014 with an asking price of just $299. Its prices have crept up since, partly from inflation, partly from more expensive components, and partly because it's possible to get away with it. This new budget model, currently known as the OnePlus Z, but previously referred to as the OnePlus 8 Lite is thought to be a way for the company to cater to consumers who aren't prepared to splash out $649 on a new phone.

A series of leaks in May and June have given us an ever-clearer picture of what the OnePlus Z will look like and what it will contain under the hood.

OnePlus Z Release Date

It's believed that OnePlus may have originally planned to launch the OnePlus Z at the same time as the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, however, it was delayed to the summer. Recent leaks have suggested the OnePlus Z will hit shelves on 10th July.

The same leak suggested that it would go on sale first in India before getting a global launch. This was corroborated by the company's CEO, Pete Lau, who said an "unnamed budget device" would first launch in India.

OnePlus Z Cameras

This is an area that isn't conclusive. A leak from December 2019 that was published on the website OnLeaks showed renders of the OnePlus Z with a two-camera setup on the back. The images also show that the cameras had been moved to the top left corner of the device, moving away from the centre like the most recent handsets.

This would make the most sense since the flagship OnePlus 8 has three lenses on the rear. However, a tweet from renowned phone leaker, @MaxJmb is believed to suggest that the OnePlus Z will have four rear cameras. This seems a little unlikely though since the budget phone would have better photography capabilities than the top of the range OnePlus 8 Pro.

OnePluz Z Processor

One of the most important elements of a smartphone is its processor. A slow one will make the device feel sluggish, create lag, and cause frustration for the user. While flagship phones are usually packed with the most powerful chipsets on the market, corners are usually cut for budget devices.

Although the OnePlus Z isn't believed to be getting the same Snapdragon 865 processor as the OnePlus 8, a benchmark test published by Geekbench is believed to show a Snapdragon 765.

The 765 is an octa-core processor with a clock speed of 1.8 GHz, which delivers less performance than the latest flagship smartphones, but is still very respectable. Crucially, it also supports 5G, meaning the OnePlus Z will be able to take advantage of the new highspeed mobile networks being built across the world.

Despite having a less powerful processor, OnePlus Z will still be capable of running all the latest apps and games. This means you'll be able to enjoy everything from card games from PokerStars to augmented reality gaming with Minecraft Earth, with no performance issues whatsoever.

Since it'll also be running Android 10, you'll get access to the latest features like Desktop Mode so you can take a tiny computer with you, wherever you go.

One plus-z

OnePlus Z Price

The price of OnePlus Z will be one of the most important factors in its success. A leak from Agarwal has suggested the UK retail price would be £400 ($499). That's £199 less than the cheapest OnePlus 8.

Another suggestion, published by Android Authority was that OnePlus Z will go on sale in India priced at Rs. 25,000 ($330). This would mean that the OnePlus Z would be almost as cheap as the original OnePlus 1 back in 2014.

With a rumoured July release, we don't have much longer to wait before we find out.

android-storage

Phone storage is one of the most important things that people require when they are dealing with smartphones. Some phones now come with as much as 64GB of memory and somehow, we always seem to fill it up. However, as a gambler, you can download as many apps as you want from the best nz casino sites because casino apps don't take too much space. I this article, we explore the ways you can get more storage in your android phone without having to delete everything.  More often, we get carried away installing apps that we don't really need sometimes, as well as taking photos and videos.

Move photos and video off internal storage

Unbeknownst to many people, photos and videos actually take up a lot of space on your phone. This is why we suggest that you install a microSD card. After, make sure that you move all your photos and videos to the memory card. Also, you must set the memory card as the default location for all new photos and videos.

Free up space on Android with Google Photos

You will need to download Google Photos and set it to automatically backup all photos and videos over Wi-Fi. You may also want to backup your WhatsApp messages. As soon as everything is backed up onto Google Photos, you can go ahead and delete the local copies from your phone.

Delete WhatsApp media

A lot of online casino apps require a lot of space. This s why all gamblers must always make sure that they have enough space before they can think of playing on mobile casinos online.

You actually prevent WhatsApp from downloading any media automatically. However, you might be surprised to find out that the app actually stores all sent media on the phone.

To clear this media, go to your local storage and look for the WhatsApp folder. Next, go to Media, then WhatsApp Images and finally, Sent. From there, you will be able to delete all sent media, thereby releasing a lot of space on your android device.  You can also delete any duplicates that you would have uploaded to Google Photos.

oneplus 8 pro

It has only a few months since OnePlus launched the OnePlus 7T and 7T pro in October, but we already have rumors about the next flagship smartphone coming in. OnePlus is good when it comes to not telling everything to everyone. It has kept its PR strategy to the minimal level since the beginning. Recently it teased about its next headset on Facebook, "We're working on something really cool and we really can't tell you yet. To be continued. Surprisingly, there is no picture of any mobile device along with the post, just a blue image.

Some Snapchat account also posted a screenshot that was supposed to be hands-on pictures of the OnePlus 8 Pro 5G. According to the screenshot, the device will have a punch-hole display. Along with the image of the device, there are also some specifications being listed. As per leaked image specification, the device will be powered by the Snapdragon 865 processing chip. The OnePlus 8 pro features four rear-facing cameras, instead of three. Secondly, there appears to be uneven spacing between the written hardware specs that arises the doubt on the authenticity of the leaked specs.

As per rumors, the upcoming OnePlus 8 series is consists of three smartphones - Oneplus 8, OnePlus 8 lite, and OnePlus 8 Pro. The former two are expected to launch with Snapdragon 865 SoC, while the OnePlus 8 Lite is rumored to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 chipset. As per the official statement, the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro are expected to have 120Hz display. As per rumors, OnePlus 8 may feature a 32MP front camera, a 48MP triple camera, and 4,000mAh battery with wrap charge 30T support. The OnePlus 8 Pro will feature a quad-camera setup, a larger 4,500mAh battery, 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, and a faster 50W fast charging technology. It is expected to be launched in the last week of March or the first week of April.

OnePlus is ready to release its next smartphone OnePlus Z that falls under the upper mid-range category. It could be a flagship killing phone with high-end features without getting the user ripped. Recently, the OnePlus 8 Pro was released, but it is slightly more expensive than regular OnePlus phones as it is priced at $899. So far the company manages to keep the prices of their smartphones at the lower cap while providing some premium features.

Initially, there were rumors about OnePlus 8 lite, and the name did make some sense. But on April 14, the OnePlus 8 series was introduced without any lite variant of the phone. In late March, phone tipster Max Weinbach tweeted that OnePlus would adopt a new name for its budget phone; the OnePlus Z. In the past, the company sold a lower-cost variant of its flagship phone after branding it as OnePlus X. The OnePlus Z might be the next phone according to the tradition of the company.

Another leak suggests from the Max J on Twitter, OnePlus Z might be launched in July 2020. He also tweeted an image along with the release date leak. It is unclear if that image is coming from OnePlus itself or some graphic designer created this image according to the leaks available so far, but we may expect that the device might debut later in the year. There might be some delay in the launch of the phone, as many other phones got delayed, due to the coronavirus situation.

Earlier leaks suggest that the OnePlus 8 lite will be around $499, but we don't know if this is the price for OnePlus Z as well. The same online store that leaked about its earlier prices, called Giztop has shown off some specs and prices for OnePlus' upcoming phones. There might be a paid difference of $50 to $100 between the OnePlus Z and the OnePlus 8 if the earlier one needs to be a budget-friendly variant. Rumors suggest that the phone will feature a 6.4-inch display, with front-camera on the top. The phone will use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 765G system-on-a-chip. That's a mid-range processor that features a faster clock speed for the chipset's main core, plus more graphics improvements. The phone will have a 4,000mAh battery with wired charging.

mobile-marketing-importance

Over the past 2 decades, mobile phones have evolved dramatically. Once a luxury, now, the mobile phones are considered a basic tool. The global presence of mobile phones has increased drastically over the years. Be it for communication or to just unwind by playing games like candy crush or a casino game, every other person today possesses a mobile phone. When the global presence of mobiles is so rich, for what possible reason people won't use this network for their commercial gains?

Mobile phones, mobile marketing

Small size integrated with the latest technology has made mobile phones so handy that laptops seem to be an unnecessary burden to people today. Ask for anything, and mobile has a solution for it. From managing your busy schedule to doing fun things like playing games at online sites like Best live blackjack; mobiles have put everything on your fingertips. Then why would anyone take the pain of carrying extra kilos?

It has become something that businesses crave for, a tool to connect to maximum available population. Businesses use it in plethora ways to sell their respective products by flashing irresistible/tempting advertisements on mobiles. Ease of communication through mobiles has made it possible for a person to market and sell his product to another person staying a thousand miles away. The emergence of mobile phones has truly changed the way business works.

Mobile phones have all the answers to your advertisement needs

From text messages to voice calls, from Emails to app pop-ups, from YouTube ads to news feed tags; today a person views at least 20 advertisements daily. Mobile marketing has become an indispensable part of the business. From a pizza maker to a game provider, no business is leaving any stone unturned to reach out to people through mobiles. Everyone is hunting for new ways to use this network to increase his sale. Today, even physical stores use mobile marketing by notifying people about the latest offers available in their stores. Look for anything and you will get a hundred people selling it.

Mobile marketing is indubitably important today. Mobile network mixed with amazing graphics makes advertisements so tempting that most people tend to buy the product that is flashed on their mobile. Advertisement seems more effective when done through mobiles. It has become so important that search engines like Google, Yahoo are preferring search index based on mobile search ranking rather than desktop search rankings. This clearly reflects the increasing use of internet on mobile phones and why not. People today start and end their days looking at their mobiles. The mobile phone is the foremost thing you need when you get up in the morning and also the last thing you need before you go to bed.

Mobile marketing has made its place in the marketing strategy of any company. Moreover, there is no other tool that could replace mobile marketing in today's world. If a business does not consider mobile marketing, it is liable to fall. While a person investing more time in mobile marketing has more chances of rising.

iPhones are awesome smartphones for more reasons than one, but compared to Android devices, they are somewhat limited in what they can offer to the user unfortunately. Perhaps two of the biggest gripes against iOS devices is the OEM's complete omission of the expandable storage slot and how complex, as well as limited iTunes feels while trying to transfer iPhone files or restore them.

As iPhones do not support external storage devices via USB OTG either, Apple makes sure that we are not left with too many other options either!

Why is It Important to Free Up iPhone Storage?

All iPhone users need to transfer iPhone files on a regular basis because there are multiple advantages in doing so. Some of them can be highlighted as follows.

• Media, contacts, messages, etc. would never be lost, even in case the phone crashes, gets stolen/lost or is damaged somehow
• As there is no way to expand the storage, backups allow users to free up space on iPhone
• The closer you get towards filling up the maximum storage capacity of your device, the slower it will become

Isn't iTunes Good Enough to Backup iPhone Data?

iTunes is not bad at what it does really, but the problem is once again in how limited Apple's software is in the features that it offers to iPhone users.

Even for completing tasks that iTunes is supposed to, there is no guarantee that the dreaded iTunes Error 54 won't show up. When that happens, your phone and your computer will stop syncing with each other, unless the issue is resolved.

On the other hand, iCloud's free storage caps out at only 5GB, at which point, you can pay to get more, though it's still not completely safe. Apple will essentially delete the data on its servers, if the account holder misses payments. There is a better alternative to paying for iPhone storage through your nose though, which is what we are going to discuss next.

How DearMob iPhone Manager is a Faster, Easier and Better Alternative to iTunes

DearMob iPhone Manager offers a fast, easy way for users to backup iPhone data seamlessly and free up iPhone storage in the process. The software does so while boosting data safety with encoding, making DearMob possibly the best iTunes alternative for Windows and MacOS available right now.

Interestingly, the iPhone manager brings so much more to the table that iTunes simply cannot. To understand what we are talking about here, let's discuss some of its unique features next.

Safer

DearMob iPhone Manager protects your data by securing it against any unauthorized use. Even if any of the backed up information is stolen or lost, no one but you will be able to decrypt the password protected files.

Faster and Easier

It is possible to create a backup of all your iPhone (any iOS device) data, with the click of a single onscreen button on DearMob. The same is true if you decide to restore the data back onto your new iPhone, or even the old one for that matter!

Selective data backup and restore between an iPhone and Mac/PC is also more intuitive, less complex and faster than it is with iTunes. While iTunes frequently freezes while handling transfer of regular media, DearMob can transfer iPhone files at a superfast speed of 2.5GB per second!

If you just switched to a new iPhone from an old one, the iPhone manager can easily be used to directly transfer everything from iPhone to iPhone, making the backup and restore process an even faster process than it usually is.

DearMob Makes the iPhone a More Accessible Device for the User

Other than letting users backup and transfer a very limited number of supported file types, iTunes doesn't allow us to do much of anything really. On the flipside of things, DearMob comes with all of the following and then some.

• It supports any and all media formats that iTunes doesn't
• The iPhone manager can be used to change the file format of any media file (including 4K & 8K videos), so that iOS can recognize it
• DearMob also allows seamless conversion and both-way transfer of podcasts, apps, eBooks, messages, music, ringtones, voice recordings, calendar data and just about everything else
• Supports Drag and drop transfer; a huge bonus for iOS users!
• DearMob can compress large media files to save space on your limited storage

Consider the fact that this isn't even the complete list of functions that the DearMob iPhone Manager can help you with, but iTunes can't. Combined with the extra security, easy-to-use interface and fast transfers, these additional features really does make the DearMob iPhone Manager a significantly better alternative to iTunes for both Windows and MacOS.

DirectX 12

One of the biggest changes in technology that's coming this year is DirectX 12 and the new set of standards, which will be used on both Windows 10 and the Xbox One. Elijah Freeman, an executive producer at Crytek, is quoted by GamingBolt as saying that his team might benefit from the fact that better optimization will be possible, which in turn will make it easier to run consistently at high-frame rates.

He states, "Everything which helps to make drawcalls more efficient is highly useful, so DX12 with its reduced API overhead and better parallelization capabilities can definitely play a part in helping us create more complex VR worlds than before."

DirectX 12 is supposed to introduce a wide variety of improvements, and Microsoft has not yet offered a clear launch date for it. Another piece of tech that has received a lot of attention recently is the cloud and the way it can be used to boost the quality of graphics for a title or to enhance its gameplay.

Freeman believes that it will have a smaller impact on virtual reality gaming because minimum latency is required. If DirectX 12 offers a solid boost to VR, it will be a little ironic, given that Microsoft is not working on a solution in this field.

The famous (or infamous) Merge Tabs is now gone from Google Chrome Beta version 51. If you can still see it, you probably need to update the application. This was a long time coming as the function had never really taken off. Initially launched by Google to make browsing a more organized experience, it actually turned out to be more confusing than helpful for most users. With the advent of Android Lollipop, the Recent Apps menu began to have separate Chrome tabs in it, which annoyed users and they often opted to turn Merge Tabs & Apps off for good.

Google realised the situation and addressed it first by setting this feature off by default. Since then, Merge Tabs has been performing a slow disappearing act as soon after, it was nowhere to be found on the Chrome Dev channel. After its complete omission from the Beta version 51, we are quite sure that it won't be long before the setting disappears from Chrome's Stable version as well. When that happens, it will disappear for the foreseeable future from all versions of Chrome.

In spite of the general opinion, there are users who actually liked the feature and according to them, they even benefitted from it. In fact, many fans of the Merge Tabs & Apps are asking why it has to be completely removed instead of just keeping it as an option. What did you think about this feature and do you find it useful?

Galaxy S6

We already reported before that Samsung is facing supply shortage and manufacturing difficulties with its latest Dual-edged smartphone, Galaxy S6 Edge, due to it's curved screen.

Now, a new report by the research firm IHS, shows that the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge 64 GB (Verizon model) costs around $290 to build. This means the handset is more expensive to make than any of Apple's latest iPhones (6, 6 PLUS), which can cost up to $263 (iPhone 6 Plus 128 GB) to manufacture. The S6 edge is obviously also more expensive to build than a Galaxy S5 ($256).

S6

Unsurprisingly, the most expensive component inside the Galaxy S6 edge is the curved Quad HD display: at $85 per unit (you can buy a decent, complete smartphone for that kind of money), the unique, dual-curve screen accounts for 29% of the total cost of an S6 edge. The next most expensive part inside the S6 edge is the octa-core Exynos 7420 processor, which is manufactured by Samsung itself, and costs $29.50 to make.

After 70 years of technological advancements have lead us to a point where pocket-sized devices now pack enough computing power to put to shame supercomputers of old. A recently published infographic by Experts Exchange shows some intriguing comparisons between supercomputers, consoles, smart watches and smartphones.

For example, the current top dog on the supercomputer front, the Chinese Tianhe-2 is capable of a staggering 33.86 PFLOPS (peta floating-point operations per second), which would take 18,400 Sony PlayStation 4s consoles to match.

The Samsung Galaxy S6, which at the moment is the smartphone with the highest raw performance, is more than five times as powerful as the PlayStation 2, which was released in 2000. More impressively though, the 138g phone's 34.8 GFLOPS are 2,900,000 times as much as the 12,000 FLOPS the IBM 704 room-sized supercomputer could produce back in 1954. LG G flex2

LG brought out what will certainly be one of the most innovative products at the CES 2015, the curved LG G Flex2. It's more compact and more powerful than its predecessor, more curved and heals faster.

Starting off with the display, LG's homemade P-OLED tech has improved over the last year and the new screen has 1080p resolution (up from just 720p). Meanwhile the screen diagonal has shrunken a bit to the more manageable 5.5" (down from 6").

LG G Flex2 Full Specifications

The screen is protected by an LG-developed glass cover that is said to be 20% more durable than Gorilla Glass 3. The back has a special self-healing coating LG marked a massive improvement by cutting the heal time from 3 minutes to just 10 seconds at room temperature. Check the video below to see it in live action.

Anyway, the LG G Flex2 will be the most powerful device for a while it will be the first to bring Snapdragon 810 in consumer hands and it only renders at 1080p (not QHD!). The phone will launch with Android 5.0 Lollipop and 2GB RAM. For storage there's 16GB or 32GB, plus a microSD card.

Android M

Android M is just around the corner and as its announcement nears, and rumors about more and more plausible features of the platform's next version come to surface each and every day. We already have a pretty good understanding of what Android M is going to be all about, but we are certain that Google has a lot of hidden functionalities hidden up its sleeve.

One of these might be granular, user-manageable app permission controls. All versions of Android after 4.3 Jelly Bean have allowed users to grant or revoke app permissions after they've installed a given app, but this functionality is deeply hidden in the OS itself and can't be accessed without a third-party app, with the most popular being App Ops (requires root for certain versions), making it a bit tricky to access it.

Android M

Android M might finally bring this undoubtedly handy feature up front and allow users to manage permission to their heartfelt content. There might be a dedicated menu in Settings that deals with app permissions. Also, it's rumored that on the next versions of Android, you won't need to grant various permissions before you install an app from the Play Store, which is a slightly cumbersome task that usually requires you to tap "yes" in a handful of dialogs.

tax on mobile phones

The Indian Government seems to be a little aggressive about the new tax schemes. Recently the Goods and Services Tax council of India decided to increase the tax rate by 6% over the existing 12% tax rate. The new tax rate of 18% will apply to anything related to the smartphone industry that also includes the components or parts of the smartphones.

The GST council of India is raising the taxation rate on mobile phones to meet the existing rate on raw material and components used in the manufacturing of the smartphone. India has already slapped on an 18% GST rate on raw materials used for manufacturing smartphones. The current tax rate on the final product was, however, 12%. This was leading to an inverted pyramid of the tax system. In a move to rationalize taxes, the council has increased taxes on mobile phones to match the 18% GST on components. Inevitably, this will lead to an increase in the cost and financial burden on the end consumer.

Manu Kumar, Xiamoi India MD has requested the Indian Government to reconsider this new tax update. According to his latest tweet, he has suggested that the industry is already struggling with depreciating INR and supply chain disruption due to covid-19. He further said that govt should at least consider exempting low-budget smartphones that used to cost under $200. The covid-19 had hugely impact the smartphone and many industries to in fact.

This new tax will further enforce more damage to one of the fastest-growing industries in India. In a memo to the GST council, the Indian Cellular and Electronics Association has raised the issue, but it remains to be seen whether any exemptions will be made to keep prices low, especially in the popular sub-Rs. 15,000 segment.

HTC is working on its most advanced smartphone till date, to regain the lost market share after releasing series of not so successful smartphones. Specifications of the yet to be unveiled device, codenamed as ‘Perfume' is supposed to be sold in the market as the One M10.

Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will be supported and HTC's Sense 8.0 UI will customize the smartphone. The 5.1-inch Perfume will be very first smartphone with a 1440 x 2560 QHD display - which seems like a AMOLED type, as per the person who gots hands-on with the prototype. HTC will also bundle a fingerprint scanner, embedded in the home button just like the Samsung Galaxy.

This device is powered by Qualcomm's latest top-notch processor, the Snapdragon 820 system-on-a-chip backed by Adreno 530 graphics. The prototype had 4GB of RAM and 23GB of free internal disk space (complemented by a microSD slot) - which makes it 32GB total, excluding operating system and rest of the preloaded software. There might be difference in the design of the prototype and the final device.

Perfume will feature a 12-UltraPixel snapper in the back which will also have laser-assisted autofocus. Both of the cameras in the front and back will have optical image stabilization. There is a drawback when it comes to the quality of sound - there won't be any Boomsound audio experience.

We recently got to know that Samsung might be coming on-board with Google to optimize TouchWiz, and a new news has added more credibility to this rumour. As per ITHome, Samsung will be concentrating more on user experience enhancement with the Galaxy S7, while Google engineers will help the Samsung backend code on its popular customized version of Android.

The report also says that Samsung and Google's primary goal is to make a "a non-delayed operating experience", one with "superior fluency than iOS". Now, Android has got huge market and is probably having more support on high-end devices when it comes to general fluidity. In the recent times, given how Apple's updates to iOS continue to bring new issues (especially as they try to make the OS more flexible), it's not clear if Android will ever be as optimized as the iOS.

The Korean tech giant has already attained a significant level of optimization with the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+, and it would be super exciting to see TouchWiz become even more efficient in the future (it would also be great to see Samsung solve the issues pertaining to multitasking in high-end devices). The report also establishes that the microSD slot will come back with the Galaxy S7, though at this very moment things are quite hazy. We'll wait and watch!

The Galaxy Note 7 is a popular handset and by now, we have a pretty good idea about how it will look and its expected specifications. However, it never hurts to see a few more leaked photos just to get a sneak peak at the smartphone before its release. The dual-Edge display with a possible 5.7/5.8-inch panel can be seen once again in this image, along with the three lens setup required for its iris scanner to work. Both of these features are a first for a Samsung device and from the looks of it, the Note 7 is all set to be the pioneer here.

The only confusion regarding the Note 7 lies in the processor and RAM department. It was rumoured earlier that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will sport the Snapdragon 821 chipset, which is supposed to be about 30% more powerful than even the mighty SD 820. It has almost been confirmed that the Note 7 will also sport 6 gigs of RAM, as is becoming the new norm for 2016 flagships. However, a latest Geekbench score and associated results revealed that the Note 7 on Verizon which was tested on the benchmarking app has only 4GB of RAM and the same SD 820 SoC! We will found what's what soon when it's unveiled on August 2 officially.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 leaked in Dubai in the last couple of days with a reveal of the device, its packaging, and the exact contents of the retail Galaxy S7 box.

The video, which only runs 15 seconds, is still long enough to reveal or confirm a few of its features. The model in question was a black variant of the Samsung Galaxy S7. The SIM card slot includes space for a SIM card and a microSD card slot. The return of the much loved microSD card slot will satisfy may consumers who were dismayed at its notable absence in recent models.

The device is expected to have a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera that has a degree of water or splash resistance from its IP68 or IP67 official rating. The design of the handset won't hold many surprises as it looks not unlike the Galaxy S6 with sleek metal around the sides and glass present both front and back. The glass is modified this time to be curved around the edges which lends the device a sleeker look and the home button is more pronounced.

The battery is a question mark with information suggesting it might have a 2,800 mAh battery, however, other sources still hold that the battery will have a 3,000 mAh capacity.

No sign of a USB Type-C port here either with Samsung sticking with the slower, non-reversible microUSB 2.0 port.

The handset will use TouchWiz as a skin over the top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The TouchWiz interface looks to have been flattened and curved more than before. Flipboard integration, love it or hate it, is still there, but again the user can disable it.

According to Korea JoongAng Daily, over a million units of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 are still being used around the world and these customers are unwilling to part with their stylus touting Samsung phone. According to the report, many customers do not agree that there is anything available in the market right now, which can replace the Note 7 and thus they are sticking with it. While this love and loyalty must be flattering for Samsung in many ways, it is extremely unwise and meaningless at the same time.

What the customers are failing to understand is that the Galaxy Note 7 does indeed pose a safety threat that was great enough for the manufacturer to not only recall each and every one of them back, but also to discontinue the product altogether. While this has already and will continue to cost Samsung plenty of money (read billions!), it hopes to minimize the damage that the blunder will leave on their reputation. Even if you are a Samsung loyalist, kindly note that if your Note 7 does indeed catch fire, it will only further tarnish the company's reputation and they will have an even harder time leaving it all behind. Besides, we are pretty sure that the Note 7 will not be receiving any further updates or support in the near future as the product is already discontinued officially. We suggest opting for the S7 Edge and the additional $100 bill credit (in the US) that Samsung is offering now for staying with them during this crisis.

We can't deny that Samsung has greatly improved the build quality of its products lately. According to Bloomberg, Samsung plans to focus on launching more Smartphones with high-quality metal chases, slim designs and High-definition displays this year.

According to Kwon Oh Hyun, who leads the components business, Samsung will also focus on smart home and health devices, as well as business-to-business market.

"Samsung Electronics aims to consolidate its leadership in the premium market and plans to newly change the smartphone line-up to strengthen competitiveness," - said Co-CEO JK Shin, Mobile phone business head.

According to a report by Android Authority, more people are still using the banned and discontinued Samsung Galaxy Note 7 than the likes of the HTC Bolt, OnePlus 3T and the LG V20! The data was gathered by Apteligent and is a part of their "2016 Mobile Year in Review" report. While this is embarrassing for the competitors and perhaps even good publicity for Samsung, we are not sure that this is exactly what they wanted to see at the moment, given that they have discontinued, banned and recalled each and every one of these smartphones.

It isn't the same for everyone though, because the Google Pixel phones and the Sony Xperia XZ have successfully crossed the Note 7 in terms of the number of current users. In order to deal with the headstrong customers who would rather tout a potentially dangerous device in their pocket and near their family and friends than returning it for a refund/exchange that also comes with added benefits, Samsung has decided to brick all operational Note 7s from the orbit with updates. One such update which will disable the Note 7's antennas, thereby cutting off Wi-Fi and all cellular reception, has already been launched in Australia, New Zealand and Canada. In the UK, an OTA update will limit the capability of the Galaxy Note 7's battery of being charged to more than 30%. In the US, the battery will simply stop taking in any charge at all after the bricking update manages to set in.

The Galaxy S8 is all but revealed, thanks to a barrage of leaks from various sources on the internet over the last month or so. However, it's still great to get confirmation of those leaks from a reputed source like Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities. Most of what he has mentioned was already known, but he did add a few little details to fill in the gaps.

• The curved Super AMOLED displays on the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ will be of 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch respectively.
• The QHD+ resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels will give the S8 an unconventional 18:9 ratio like the LG G6.
• There will be no physical Home buttons and all sensors will remain on the top bezel of the phone.
• Those sensors will include proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, Infrared blaster, front camera sensor and an iris scanner.
• At the back, there will be the single rear camera, the LED flash, a heart rate sensor and a fingerprint scanner just on the right of the main camera.
• The rear and front cameras will be of 12-megapixels and 8-megapixels respectively.
• Both phones will come in Gold, Silver, Blue, Orchid, Pink, Matter Black and Bright Black color variants, depending on the specific region.
• USB Type-C v3.1 will be there.
• PC Mode via an external dock to connect to a monitor will be included to create a desktop like working environment.
• As always, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip will be powering the two devices in Japan, China and the US, while the Exynos 8895 will power them everywhere else.
• Both devices will feature 6GB of RAM in South Korea and China, but 4GB of RAM everywhere else.
• April 21st is almost certainly the date on which the S7 and the S7 Edge will go on sale in most regions.

That about covers everything. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask us in the comments.

The Galaxy S8 is going to be officially revealed at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event in just three more days but that hasn't yet stopped the leaks from coming in though! On that note, let's check out the two leaks we have for you today.

Take a look at the renders above which seem to be legit leaks by V3. From what we can see near the edges, this seems to be the Blue Coral variant, although it might be called something else this year. Other color options revealed so far include Black Sky, Orchid Grey, Arctic Silver, Violet and Gold.

If you have had enough of pictures, we also have a video for you where someone seemingly tries his best to freeze the S8 by typing random keys on the keyboard. Considering that the S8 and the S8+ will be powered by the world's most powerful processors and GPUs, I would say that was an effort in futility! Nevertheless, it gives us a look at a variant of the S8 or S8+ that has a white front. Take a look yourself and let us know what you think in the comments.

It is now official, the Galaxy Note 7 disaster is well and truly behind the company as the S8 and S8+ have seen an unbelievable 30% hike in pre-orders, as compared to the S7 and S7 Edge. Given that the S7 did not have any bad publicity to deal with, it wouldn't have been surprising if people were a bit more apprehensive about the S8 series this year. However, that's not the case and the S8 series is now officially the most successful launch for a smartphone that Samsung has ever experienced.

Tim Baxter, President and CEO at Samsung Electronics America, has proudly stated that the overwhelming response from customers worldwide is a result of Samsung "recommitting" itself as a innovator to bring innovations to the market. This news comes hot in the heels of another important update. Samsung will apparently be releasing a software patch very soon, which will take care of the red tinge issue, which is slowly becoming infamous; something that Samsung will probably not take very lightly.

It has now been close to a month since Apple had launched the iPhone X, alongside the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. Although the iPhone X is yet to hit the stores, it wouldn't take too much guesswork to predict that it would be a hit, in spite of the hefty price tag. However, there is ample reason to believe that Samsung wouldn't mind, not this time!

The thing is, the iPhone X could make Samsung more money than even the combined sales of the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+! You see, the beautiful full-screen AMOLED displays adorning the iPhone X's front are going to be supplied solely by Samsung and on each unit sold by Apple, Samsung will be making $110 in profit. If the estimations are right and Apple does manage to sell about 130 million of its smartphones, Samsung will make $14.3 billion from those sales! Now that's billions more than the Galaxy S8 and S8+'s estimated combined sales profit ($10.1 billion at a profit of $202/unit). So when we say that Samsung loves the iPhone X and may be even more than the S8, we are probably not wrong.

There's hardly a month or so in between now and the Galaxy S10's unveiling at the MWC 2019 in Barcelona next month and surprisingly enough, we have actually not seen enough Galaxy S10 leaks, like we had seen in 2017 and 2018, during the respective launching of the S8 and S9 series. However, thanks to a report brought to light by SamMobile, we now have some information regarding how the S10 series will be priced. Not that is anything concrete or absolute at the moment, but this is what we have at the moment!

As you can see, it's going to be an expensive buy this year, if you want any of Samsung's S10 series of smartphones, and even more so if you want the rumored Galaxy 10 X. The pricing details and the multiple models almost makes me wish that Samsung kept things simpler like they used to. After all, it makes little sense spending $879 on a smartphone that will always be considered as a "budget" smartphone in the premium category!

A new leak suggests that the Galaxy S7 might feature a curved design that's similar to the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and S6 Edge. OnLeaks has provided a visual comparison between the upcoming S7 and the present gen Note 5. It clearly shows the Note 5 having a bigger camera hump and a flat back while the S7 is sporting a significantly reduced camera hump on a curvy back panel. If you were hoping that the Galaxy S7 will feature a flexible display, the chances of that happening aren't that good. You will instead, get a "curved in" flagship from Samsung this year, that's not only curved on its sides, but also curved on both the top and the bottom.

At Samsung's Unpacked 2016 event on the 21st of February, the Korean manufacturer is going to unveil the S7 to the world, but we are not sure as to how much of the mystery remains to be "unveiled." We mostly know what to expect, thanks to all the leaks and rumors that have been around for the last few months. Nonetheless, the specs do sound awesome and according to latest reports; those specs will be powered by a 3000mAh battery that's capable of playing videos on the Galaxy S7 for 17 hours on a loop. It can also be charged from 0-100% in 100 minutes and 0-50% in just 25 minutes!

marijuana-banned-play-store

Irrespective of what the state government in any state of the United States might decide, it is now official that Google has taken a strong stance against weed in the Play Store as well.

You can check out the official statement in the store itself, but it can be summarized with the bottom-line that from now on, the Play Store won't support any applications that has anything to do with the weed business at all, irrespective of the business's legal/illegal status in the state of question.

It is disappointing and surprising to see Google taking the same stance as Apple and Facebook already did, especially when the industry has started to grow so profoundly.

Personally, I think it might just have something to do with the strained relationship that Canada now shares with the US. Similar to how Huawei has been shunned by Google due to the new policies implemented by the Trump administration, this could very well be a result of the political pressure on Google to affect the cannabis industry's uninhibited growth in Canada. Then again, it's just a hunch and I could be completely wrong.

Surveys indicate that about 1.3% of all devices running Android are still running Gingerbread on them and if you are one of those users, it's REALLY time to upgrade. Google has officially declared that all support for Android 2.3.x devices will be discontinued from 2017, as soon as they launch the next version of the Play Services (v10.2).

What this means is that your device will neither be able to load any of the Google Play service applications, nor will it get any updates to the existing apps on it. The minimum OS requirement for availing the Google apps and services will shift to Android 4.0.1 Ice Cream Sandwich, post the launch of Play Services version 10.2 next year.

According to Google, "Version 10.0.0 of the Google Play services client libraries, as well as the Firebase client libraries for Android, will be the last version of these libraries that support Android API level 9 (Android 2.3, Gingerbread). The next scheduled release of these libraries, version 10.2.0, will increase the minimum supported API level from 9 to 14 (Android 4.0.1, Ice Cream Sandwich). This change will happen in early 2017."

"The Gingerbread platform is almost six years old. Many Android developers have already discontinued support for Gingerbread in their apps. This helps them build better apps that make use of the newer capabilities of the Android platform. For us, the situation is the same. By making this change, we will be able to provide a more robust collection of tools for Android developers with greater speed."

I would suggest that you upgrade to a very minimum of Android Lollipop 5.1.1 or preferably Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 when you do, because Ice Cream Sandwich is sure to be cut out soon as well.

"This is a huge platform change; this is of the scale of 20 years ago Microsoft versus Apple. We're winning that war pretty clearly now." - Eric Schmidt, Google

1 Billion

A total of 1 Billion Android devices shipped over the last year (2014) alone, as reported by Strategy Analytics. The analyst firm estimates 1.3 billion smartphones were shipped in 2014, of that over 1 billion ran Android (this works out to 81% market share).

Smartphone shipments grew 30% compared to 2013 (from 1B to 1.3B). Androids alone went from 0.8B to 1B in that period, while iOS lost some ground in terms of market share. It still shipped around 193 million devices, up from 153 million units in 2013.

SA

The third horse in the race, Windows Phone, kept pace with the growth of the market and stayed at 3% share (shipping just under 39 million units).

Google

One of the first things that Google announced at its big event today is that Android just keeps on growing. Google CEO Sundar Pichai said on stage that at the moment, there are more than 1.4 billion active Android devices in the world. "Active" in this context means that they've been used within the last 30 days.

This number is up 40%, from 1 billion, back in June of 2014. Keep in mind that this doesn't represent the total number of Android devices that were ever sold, it's just those that are still active, or have been so in the last month.

The Google Play Store is now being used on more than 1 billion devices. Again, this means 1 billion phones and tablets have used Google's content store in the last 30 days. So it appears that the Play Store either isn't installed or simply isn't used on a staggering 400 million devices out there.

Whatsapp

WhatsApp, the well-known popular mobile messaging service has crossed another major milestone recently. The company CEO announced on Twitter that WhatsApp is now service over 600 million monthly active users.

The CEO was quick to point out that it's active users, that is, people actually using the service everyday, and not just registered users, which would be a bigger number but a lot of those people won't actually be using the service. This makes the milestone all the more impressive and shows once again just how popular WhatsApp is.

Nexus 5

It's been almost one year since Google unveiled the new Play Newsstand App for Android, which incorporated features from both Play Magazines and Google Currents under one roof. To celebrate, Google is released a big update to the app to version 3.0, which brings it an entirely new design.

Today, Newsstand App got updated to version 3.3.1 with even more Material Design UI and bug fixes, all ready for the Lollipop launch tomorrow.

Newstand

There is more to the new version, however. It also comes with a new magazine reading experience, without the need to constantly zoom in and out to read articles. That's how things worked in the past, but not anymore. The new Play Newsstand app will now show you a list of articles from the magazine that you can toggle through and read easily on your phone. Big images are included.

Smoother transitions come part of the Material Design inspired makeover, and the headers are more contextual. You swipe left and right between topics, and up and down to dive into a particular topic. And deeper topic cards have been added to the Explore section. The app should have received a speed boost too.

The latest WhatsApp version 2.12.58 for Android packs even more Material Design UI and Animation to follow Google's Latest UI Guidelines.

WhatsApp did a really good job here. Functionally, nothing is different so you don't have to re-teach your parents or tech-challenged friends how to use the app or find a certain option. It's pretty in all the right ways that Material is, but not overbearing, with delightful animations.

From the transparent status bar, to the menu bar that expands and collapses when you scroll down, to the new iconography, there are lots of changes to take in, so let's look around.

Hangouts

Google has just started rolling-out the latest Hangouts v4.0 with some new features, updated User Interface, better MMS handling, better Dual-sim support and Full Android Wear Support. The new version is rolling-out in stages to all Android users.

Here is What's New in Hangouts 4.0 [Official Change-log]:
Hangouts is sleeker. Now updated with material design, Hangouts has a new look and feel: items respond to your touch in more intuitive ways and transitions between tasks are more fluid.
Hangouts is simpler. The new Compose button makes it easier for you to start a new group or conversation. Our streamlined contacts list helps you find the right person quickly. And attachments have been revamped and simplified, so sharing-of emoji, GIFs, your location, even multiple photos at once-is a snap.
Hangouts is faster. Whether you're sending a quick message or video chatting with family, you don't want hold-ups. We've been obsessively fixing bugs and speeding up message delivery to make Hangouts faster and more reliable. Bonus: less battery consumption.
