OnePlus 6

Only a few weeks ago, back in November 2019, OnePlus rolled out its first operating system update for its flagship smartphones OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T. The update included an upgrade of OS with several software-related features that improved the performance and gesture navigation system of the device. The device now supports full-screen gestures and other gestures including inward swipes from the left or right edge of the screen to go back and a bottom navigation bar to allow switching left or right for recently used apps.

OnePlus has a reputation for early OS update schedule as compared to other major smartphone manufacturers. However, the early doesn't mean the smooth transition. The last update rolled out for the OnePlus 7 and 7T were riddled with security issues and bugs, which were fixed later on with the help of security patches and minor fixes.

After this year's flagship, it was turn for the last year's flagship devices - OnePlus 6 and 6T from the year 2018. The first update was quick, but it also appeared to have some issues and bugs. The customers gave their feedback and OnePlus listened to it. The second update which was early in the December addressed some of these complaints on an urgency basis. The third update is an attempt to cover what was left unresolved in the second update.

Despite the bugs and fixes, the company's early and appropriate response shows how serious the company considers its consumers. In an industry, where not manufacturers take updates seriously, OnePlus is doing it. Even it is not ready to give on the one-year-old devices. Meanwhile, very old devices like OnePlus 3 and 3T got their last security update. Last year, the company stated, "As per the OnePlus software maintenance schedule, OnePlus 3 and 3T will be getting regular OTA updates till November of 2018 and 1 year of extended Android security patches. "

Here is the changelog for OnePlus 6 and 6T Updates:

• Updated system to Android 10
• Brand new UI for Android 10
• Fixed the automatic reboot issue
• Added the notch area display option in the Settings (Settings > Display > Notch display > Hide the notch area)
• Fixed the issue with lock screen appearing even after unlocking the device with the password
• Fixed the issue with Navigation bar after upgrade
• Fixed the Digital wellbeing option missing in the settings
• Updated Android security patch to 2019.11
• Full-Screen Gestures
• Added inward swipes from the left or right edge of the screen to go back
• Added a bottom navigation bar to allow switching left or right for recent apps

If you are the OnePlus 6 and 6T user and got a new update, let us know about the update in the comment sections below.

redmi

If you are a proud owner of Redmi Note 9 in India, you could be among the few Redmi users who will be getting Android 11 updates in India. The new update is limited to selected users initially, though it will reach all Redmi Note 9 series phones in the near future. Xiaomi released the phone early this year in March, alongside the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. The smartphone originally came with the older version of Android this year out of the box. However, it has already received an update to MIUI 12 in September. This update brought up lots of changes to the user interface, including a refreshed interface.

According to the users getting the update, the latest Redmi Note 9 pro update is around 2.3GB in size and is based on a firmware version MIUI V12.0.1.0.RJWINXM. The official changelog doesn't offer any information on the changes this update might bring. However, it does show that the new software update can be downloaded through a stable channel.

How to get the latest Android update

If you haven't received the OTA update, you can initiate the process manually. First you need to check if you are among the users who are getting the update. You can check the status of the Android 11 update on your Redmi Note 9 pro by going to Settings > About phone. The new update installs the latest Android 11 operating system to your phone that Google launched earlier this year. However, this update doesn't come with any security patch released by Google.

The Redmi Note 9 series isn't a modern-day light weight phone. It has a large battery and display of 6.67-inch with full HD+ screen. The phone comes with a standard 60Hz panel and doesn't have a 90hz refresh rate like some recently launched phones, including the Realme 6. The company suggests that there isn't any app at the moment that is taking advantage of such a high refresh rate and it only consumes the battery life. The phone has Snapdragon 720G SoC that isn't powerful enough. Xiamoi sells the Redmi Note 9 pro in India at a starting price of Rs. 13,999. The phone is selling for three different configurations in india - GB RAM/ 64GB storage, 4GB RAM/128GB internal storage, and 4GBRAM/128GB storage.

Oppo has started to release the Android 11 based user interface upgrade to its smartphones ever since the Android 11 OS was rolled out back in September 2020. Several devices are already running the stable version while a few smartphones are using the beta build. The latest smartphone receiving the update is OPPO A93. OPPO A93 is a rebranded version of OPPO F17 Pro for some SEA counties. The F17 PRO is already running the latest interface since it got the update in November 2020. However, the A93 has started to receive it just now.

According to news, the company rolled out the best version of the upgraded interface in January. A month later, the firm is now releasing the stable version. In case you are using this device and want to upgrade to the latest update, go to Settings app > Software update to check if you are eligible for an OTA update yet. Like every other update, this is also planned in staged phases. Therefore, the update may take some time to arrive on your phone.

We are going to see some more updates shortly for other smartphones as well. As the company will be releasing the update for OPPO A91 on February 27 in Indonesia. On the other hand, the OPPO Reno3 Pro 5G will get a stable build in Russia on February 27. Oppo Reno4 5G will be receiving the update this month in Portugal and Itlay, Oppo Reno3 PRo, and Reno4 PRo will be getting the update in Ukraine, and Oppo Find X2 Neo will receive the update in Netherlands, France, and Spain only.

ASUS has just started to roll out Android Marshmallow updates to the ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE500KL) and this package addresses something that many users had been complaining about since launch. The ZenFone 2 Laser, in addition to all other ZenFones in the series, comes preloaded with plenty of apps that some users may find annoying. If you are not a fan of the preloaded bloatware either, you will be happy to know that this latest update will not only upgrade your phone to Android M, but will also remove most of those applications by default.

Here is a list of all the pre-installed applications which will no longer be a part of your ZenFone 2 Laser, once it has been upgraded to Android 6.0 with Build number 13.10.6.16_M3.6.44.

There will also be a few new apps installed on your ZE500KL once you perform the upgrade, but thankfully, the list is not nearly as long as the list above. Dr. Booster, Google calendar and Google Messenger are the only three new applications that you will find on your phone post upgrade. If the package has already arrived on your smartphone, here are a few things that we recommend for you to keep in mind before you go through with the download and installation.

Backup your data and move all media files to your micro-SD card.

Move all applications to your internal storage because after this update, your ZenFone 2 Laser will lose support for APP2SD.

Stay signed into your Google and ASUS accounts in order to be able to use the Multi-user feature on your smartphone.

Once you are done, let us know if you really like the bloatware free experience or would you have preferred it if the Taiwanese company left a few of the removed apps on board?

Apple has finally managed to beat Samsung in the global smartphone market for the first time in quite a few years. A report published by Strategy Analytics clearly shows that in the fourth quarter of 2016, Apple captured 17.8% of the market share, while Samsung had to remain content with 17.7%. This difference of 0.1% may not seem like much of a difference, but it does confirm that Apple outsold Samsung, even if it was for just one quarter of 2016.

As one can guess, the defeat was largely a result of the Note 7's failure. Once you consider the fact that Samsung did not have a major flagship in the playing field during the holiday season when every other major competitor had put in one, the 5% dip in sales starts to make more sense. Apple shipped 78.3 million units around the world during the last quarter and broke a barrage of sales records with the latest iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Samsung on the other hand, sold 77.5 million smartphones in Q4 2016, which isn't really that bad, once you consider their unfortunate situation.

In a year to year comparison, Apple lost market share in 2016. Whereas the company enjoyed 16.1% share of the global smartphone market in 2015, it dipped to 14.5% in 2016. In spite of enjoying record breaking sales numbers with the iPhone 7 series, Q4 2016 brought only 17.8% of the market share to Apple, while Q4 2015 had brought them 18.6%. Samsung on the other hand, lost more significant portions of the market share both in a year-to-year comparison, as well as in a quarter-to-quarter comparison. Check out the screenshot to understand what we are talking about.

Tips and tricks from Fonehouse.co.uk

Mobile phones are a ubiquitous sight for people to see. We encounter them frequently, and they're used for a wide selection of different tasks. However, how many people actually know how to get the most from their phone?

It's relatively common for people not to understand how to utilise a phone in the best possible way. We presume that they're automatically set up to make our lives as easy as possible, but this isn't always the case. In a lot of cases, you have to really know a trick or two to make sure that your phone is optimised correctly. Sites like Fonehouse have heard many different ideas for how best to try and make the phone the best possible thing it can be, and we're going to be looking at some of them here and now.

Back Up What You Can't Afford To Lose

Music, photos, important business documents. They're all things that we can access without a moment's hesitation, but they're not permanent. If you drop your phone, damage it or expose it to water, you can lose everything. This obviously isn't something that you want to happen, so you need to make sure that you backup anything that you can't afford to lose. It protects all the things that you want to keep in the event of them perhaps not being available to you. Technology is far from perfect after all, and in a world of bugs and faults, there's never been more of a need to stay secure.

Consider A New Browser

A lot of the core apps provided to you by your phone will be pretty useful. However, perhaps it's time to consider something other than Safari for your iPhone. Every browser will offer you a different and possibly better experience. For example, Google Chrome allows users to view tabs that they have open on another device. It's worth taking the time to look around and see what is available to you regarding browsers, and even consider alternatives for other things as well. Perhaps a more specialist reminder application, or a music provider that works for your lifestyle.

Folders Are Your Friend

Trawling through pages of apps can be an absolute chore to try and do. When you're just looking for one application in three or four pages worth, you soon find yourself wishing for an alternative. This is where folders come into play. They're designed to help you sort applications based on their usage and characteristics. They can be and often are your best friends, so it's worth taking the time to stop and look at how you can arrange things.

Use Shortcuts

Shortcuts are designed to help us get to various parts of our phones without having to navigate through hundreds of different menus. A lot of home screens on phones, especially those made by Apple, are designed to make it so that people can get around their phones with ease. Plus, a lot of them can be customised and changed to suit the needs of the people who are using them, so it's perfect for so many different people to use. If you don't use your home screen all that much, you should definitely look into how you can customise it to suit your specific needs and requirements.

Keep It Simple

All things considered, sometimes it's best to keep your phone as simple as possible. The more applications that you have on the phone and the more you try and do at once, the higher the risk of something going wrong. Sometimes the best way to do things is to keep it simple and straightforward. This is achieved by limiting the number of apps you have open, and not pushing the phone too far.

All in all, these are just a few of the different things which you can do to make sure that you are getting the most from your phone. Because we all use our mobiles so often, it is so important that we take the time to make the most of the phones that we have. Despite what we would like to think, our phones aren't actually always set up to make our lives the most convenient that they can be. This requires us to tailor all of the various functions and features of the device to suit our own unique needs and requirements. Only by doing this can we expect to have a phone which is convenient, highly intuitive and attuned to our lives.

smartphone-does-everything

For most of us today, our phones have become part of our very being.  We actually feel quite bereft if we forget our phone at home, and are likely to return home to pick it up, rather than be without it all day.  Most people in the western world own a smartphone and are spending many hours of the day using them or some other digital device of their choice.  Incredibly, in spite of the amount of time we spend on our phones, there are a number of features that most people, even those really quite techie types, are not aware of.

There are some really useful features that we could be utilizing to make our lives easier and more comfortable but are not even aware of. Some of these features will really help to improve your life and make having a smartphone even more essential.  While your phone can be a lot of fun and can be used to play at SlotoCash Casino, it can also help you to get home safely or to measure and make sure you have aligned your painting correctly.

Scan QR Codes without using an App

It used to be that you had a QR (Quick Response for commercial tracking application) reader app on your phone. Now you don't need a specialized app to do this.   You can just direct your iphone camera at a QR code and it will scan it automatically.   Using your camera app you will then be directed straight to the product or website.  This can also be done in a similar fashion but by opening a Google app on an Android.

Custom Vibrations

Some people want to know immediately if an urgent message is waiting for them but don't want to have to access their phone every moment of the day. You can create vibrations that will let you know if the particular message is urgent or not.

First, go into your Settings on your iphone and then click on Sounds. From here go into Ringtone and at the top it will say Vibration. Click on this and scroll down until you find Create New Vibration.   From here you are now able to create a specific vibration and connect it to any contact you wish.  Now you can ascertain whether a message is urgent or not.

Search Photos by Category

image-gallery-search

Trying to locate a particular photo can be really frustrating. But using the search function at the top of your Photo App you can locate it easily by category. For instance, if you are searching for that great photo you took of the Eiffel Tower on your visit to Paris,  just write the word "Paris" and it should just pop up.

Identifying problems with Your Car

If you are having issues with your car, there is an app that can possibly help you avoid paying for a mechanic to figure it out.   It's called the Automatic Pro app. You will need an adaptor to enable it to be plugged into your car's ODB-II port.    This will let you know if you have indeed got some problem with the engine.  The app can also locate your car, if say, your teenager is driving or if you have forgotten where you parked.

Check the Batteries on a Remote Control

By directing your remote control to the front facing camera of your phone and pressing any button you will be able to see if the batteries are still functioning.  If you see the infrared light flashing on the remote, the batteries are still good.

Watch Your Favorite Program on Your TV

tv-on-smartphone

This great feature is subject to your having an Apple TV.  You can transfer what you are watching from your iPhone to your TV screen.   You have screen mirroring on your iPhone.  Just click on this while standing close to your TV.  You may be asked to enter your Airplay passcode and you're all set to go.

Be Safe While Walking Home

Walking home alone can be scary but there are ways to make your journey home safer.   The bSafe app which is good for iPhones and Android allows for certain contacts to track your location, can set a timer to activate a distress call to your designated contact within a certain time frame and can also schedule fake calls so you look like you are actually speaking with someone.

Updating Siri's Pronunciation

To change the way Siri's pronouncing certain words is really easy.  Ask Siri to pronounce a word that you know she consistently gets wrong.  Tell her at that point that she is pronouncing it wrong.   You'll be asked to say the word correctly after which you'll be given a list of options to update Siri's pronunciation.

Turning on your House Lights

This is a great feature to keep your home safe and at the same time to save energy.  You will need to have wifi enabled bulbs for the Amazon Alexa app to work.  At the touch of a button you are able to control the lights in your home.

Shortcuts : Texts and Emoji's

If you are someone who is forever texting and get frustrated with how long it can take, you can create text replacement shortcuts on your phone.  Just go into your Settings, click on Keyboard and then Text Replacement.  After pressing the + sign you can then create the things you want in shorthand or using Emojis. Next time you text using those phrases, the Emoji or word will show up.

Hanging Your Picture Straight

Making sure you are hanging your picture straight is simple when you use the Bubble Level app.   No need to have a real level in your back pocket. This app will do the trick.

Sleep Better By Dimming

phone-too-bright

The brightness of the home screen on your phone can keep you awake.  You are able to reduce the light by using Grayscale.  In phone settings, click on Accessibility, then Display Accommodations and choose Color Filters.  You can then enable grayscale. This dimming affect makes the light of the screen less startling.

Measuring your Blood Alcohol Level

Using the BACtrack breathalyzer which connects with an app on your phone you are able to check the amount of alcohol you have consumed. Think safety first.  Better to be safe than sorry.

Undoing Mistakes with a Shake

With your iPhone it is possible to just shake your phone and an option to "undo' your text will pop up.  You can do this with an Android but you do have to have the module to enjoy this feature.

Clear Your Screen of Apps in one Fell Swoop

You don't have to go into every single app opened in order to close them down.  You can swipe up using your whole hand and the whole lot will disappear in one go.   The app KillApps will perform the same task for an Android.

Car Security

Using an app like ViperStartSmart you can lock and unlock your car and even start the car using your phone from a distance.  It is also possible to detect problems with the car using this app.

Drive Safely

Avoid looking down at your phone when using the GPS while driving. There are great apps for iPhone and Android that project directly onto a dash-mounted screen.  No need to be distracted by looking down. Keep your eyes on the road.

Quick Charge

quick-charge

If you are in a hurry to charge your phone, you will be surprised to learn that by enabling Airplane Mode your phone will charge in half the time.

Which Planes are Flying Overhead

If you are wondering which planes are flying over your head, just ask Siri. You can learn which airline it is and also the angle and altitude of the plane.

Checking your Heart Rate

Today with our busy schedules it is hard to fit everything in.  However, some things are really important.  With the Instant Heart Rate app, connected to your phone you are able to monitor your heart rate during the day and even during your workout to see how your heart is doing.

iPhones are awesome smartphones for more reasons than one, but compared to Android devices, they are somewhat limited in what they can offer to the user unfortunately. Perhaps two of the biggest gripes against iOS devices is the OEM's complete omission of the expandable storage slot and how complex, as well as limited iTunes feels while trying to transfer iPhone files or restore them.

As iPhones do not support external storage devices via USB OTG either, Apple makes sure that we are not left with too many other options either!

Why is It Important to Free Up iPhone Storage?

All iPhone users need to transfer iPhone files on a regular basis because there are multiple advantages in doing so. Some of them can be highlighted as follows.

• Media, contacts, messages, etc. would never be lost, even in case the phone crashes, gets stolen/lost or is damaged somehow
• As there is no way to expand the storage, backups allow users to free up space on iPhone
• The closer you get towards filling up the maximum storage capacity of your device, the slower it will become

Isn't iTunes Good Enough to Backup iPhone Data?

iTunes is not bad at what it does really, but the problem is once again in how limited Apple's software is in the features that it offers to iPhone users.

Even for completing tasks that iTunes is supposed to, there is no guarantee that the dreaded iTunes Error 54 won't show up. When that happens, your phone and your computer will stop syncing with each other, unless the issue is resolved.

On the other hand, iCloud's free storage caps out at only 5GB, at which point, you can pay to get more, though it's still not completely safe. Apple will essentially delete the data on its servers, if the account holder misses payments. There is a better alternative to paying for iPhone storage through your nose though, which is what we are going to discuss next.

How DearMob iPhone Manager is a Faster, Easier and Better Alternative to iTunes

DearMob iPhone Manager offers a fast, easy way for users to backup iPhone data seamlessly and free up iPhone storage in the process. The software does so while boosting data safety with encoding, making DearMob possibly the best iTunes alternative for Windows and MacOS available right now.

Interestingly, the iPhone manager brings so much more to the table that iTunes simply cannot. To understand what we are talking about here, let's discuss some of its unique features next.

Safer

DearMob iPhone Manager protects your data by securing it against any unauthorized use. Even if any of the backed up information is stolen or lost, no one but you will be able to decrypt the password protected files.

Faster and Easier

It is possible to create a backup of all your iPhone (any iOS device) data, with the click of a single onscreen button on DearMob. The same is true if you decide to restore the data back onto your new iPhone, or even the old one for that matter!

Selective data backup and restore between an iPhone and Mac/PC is also more intuitive, less complex and faster than it is with iTunes. While iTunes frequently freezes while handling transfer of regular media, DearMob can transfer iPhone files at a superfast speed of 2.5GB per second!

If you just switched to a new iPhone from an old one, the iPhone manager can easily be used to directly transfer everything from iPhone to iPhone, making the backup and restore process an even faster process than it usually is.

DearMob Makes the iPhone a More Accessible Device for the User

Other than letting users backup and transfer a very limited number of supported file types, iTunes doesn't allow us to do much of anything really. On the flipside of things, DearMob comes with all of the following and then some.

• It supports any and all media formats that iTunes doesn't
• The iPhone manager can be used to change the file format of any media file (including 4K & 8K videos), so that iOS can recognize it
• DearMob also allows seamless conversion and both-way transfer of podcasts, apps, eBooks, messages, music, ringtones, voice recordings, calendar data and just about everything else
• Supports Drag and drop transfer; a huge bonus for iOS users!
• DearMob can compress large media files to save space on your limited storage

Consider the fact that this isn't even the complete list of functions that the DearMob iPhone Manager can help you with, but iTunes can't. Combined with the extra security, easy-to-use interface and fast transfers, these additional features really does make the DearMob iPhone Manager a significantly better alternative to iTunes for both Windows and MacOS.

The Galaxy S5 was unveiled in 2014 as their flagship device by Samsung and back then, it was a pioneer in terms of the innovations that it brought to the Samsung smartphone line-up. It was the first Samsung smartphone ever to sport a heartbeat sensor, a fingerprint sensor, as well as having dust and water resistance capabilities. Nonetheless, it is over two year old now and smartphones do have a tendency to age fast. If you have a S5, then you would be pleased to know that Samsung has not forgotten about it yet. The latest reports suggest that after rolling Android M as an OTA update in South Korea earlier, the Korean manufacturer has now started to roll out the same updates for the S5 in Trinidad and Tobago as well.

As far as we know, the latest updates are being released for the SM-G900M and earlier, they were upgrading the SM-G900L in South Korea with Android Marshmallow. Provided that you are in Trinidad and Tobago, go to Settings, About device and Check for updates to see if the update has arrived on your Galaxy S5 yet. Once the 1.47GB package does arrive and you complete the update, the Android version on your phone should change to 6.0.1 and the firmware version to G900MUBU1CPC3.

If you are neither a resident of South Korea or Trinidad and Tobago, you will have to wait longer for the update unfortunately. If it is any consolation, the update is coming to your Samsung Galaxy S5 for sure, albeit a little later.

Download latest firmware here

According to a tweet from the usually reliable leakster @LlabTooFeR.  Google seems to have presumably started the rollout of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow for its Android One range of smartphones.

Early reports indicate that Android 6.0.1 does not really bring anything new. The update probably only contains some bug fixes and stability improvements.

According to AndroidBeat, Cherry Mobile G1 smartphone in the Philippines is among the first Android One devices to receive the Android 6.0.1 update.

Users that chose AT&T as their carrier while buying the HTC One M8 and HTC One M9 were left a little disappointed in the fact that they had not yet received the Android M update on their smartphones. Given that Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint had already released the update for their respective versions of the two phones, the disappointment is understandable. However, this was expected as HTC had earlier made it public that Marshmallow will reach the M8 and the M9 on AT&T, later than their counterparts on other carriers.

Nonetheless, we have good news for you because Mo Versi (VP of Product Management, HTC) just confirmed on Twitter that both the smartphones will begin receiving the much awaited upgrade, starting today. Although the OTA update package won't reach every phone at the same instance, it is only a matter of time before it does reach all the HTC One M8 and One M9 handsets that are on AT&T. If you are impatient, check right now to see if the update has arrived on your smartphone yet by going to Settings >About device > Check for updates.

HTC One M8 Marshmallow update

We already published the list of officially confirmed HTC devices that will get Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Among those devices, the HTC One M8 which is the 2014 flagship, the device has already got Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update with Sense 6.0 UI.

HTC will bring the Sense 7.0 UI with the Marshmallow 6.0 update to the One M8. It looks like the One M8 could get the update a bit sooner given as the update for the handset has been certified by Bluetooth SIG. As you can see in the screenshot above, the certification was issued on October,28th.

Keep in mind that we're just speculating an early arrival of the update as the Bluetooth SIG filing doesn't contains any specific date related to the roll out.

The Nokia 5.3 is called the future-proof phone that costs almost half of the entry-level premium smartphone. HMD Global's Nokia 5.3 costs just under $199, and it will surprise you with its software, features, and design as a daily phone. The Nokia 5.3 was already gone on sale back in April this year but is yet to get an official launch in India. And now HMG Global has sent out the invites for an online event on August 25. The invite says it will be giving a brief session virtually ahead of the launch. The virtual session will be done on Microsoft Teams and will begin at 10 AM IST. It is believed the Nokia 5.3 will be announced on the same day.

The company has also reported that the 2020 models of the Nokia 125 and Nokia 150 may be announced on the same day since these device has already received certification by the Bureau of Indian Standards since June. The rear panel of the phone is made of plastic and frame a 6.55-inch display screen with 1,600 x 720 pixels. Due to its cover, it is quite manageable but may not fit in the small hands. If you are watching YouTube videos on the mobile phone, you might want to increase the brightness up to full most of the time as the auto-brightness may not work for you.

The phone house a selfie camera at the top of the display with a small bezel on the bottom. The primary camera is of 13-megapixel with a 4/1.8 aperture and is joined by a 5-megapixel ultra-wide, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro lens. The front camera is of 8-megapixel. To take pictures at a low-light situation, it offers a night mode, but the shots it takes are hardly better than those you take without it.

The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor with 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB of RAM options. The Nokia 5.3 offers similar software experience as the Google Pixel phones with Android One and no special user interface. The phone will receive software updates for the next years, including Android 11. The device features a massive 4,000mAh battery that is enough for medium-level usage with a single charge throughout the day.

mwc 2015

Today, HTC sends out invitations to its upcoming MWC 2015 even next March. The invites are titled with a starry sky and the words "Utopia in progress". Well, it's not much to assume from, but it might indicates that the Taiwanese company is planning on releasing a ground-breaking flagship.

The most anticipated device this year is the HTC One (M9), if that's what they decide to call it, will reportedly make the jump to a 5" QHD screen, a Snapdragon 810 chipset, a 20.7MP camera on the front with maybe an UltraPixel selfie camera and a burly 3,500mAh battery to power it all.

Are you a diehard fan of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7? If you are, then it must have made you sad to see the beautiful but dangerous smartphone being cancelled forever. Although the Note 7 is now dead and Samsung is in serious trouble with an estimated loss of over 17 billion USD due to the mishap, the Galaxy S8 is coming nevertheless. The OEM just has to WOW its customers with the S8 to the point that they decide to overlook the embarrassing incident and go for it. TechDroider has shared with us a concept video of the Galaxy S8 that seems capable of doing just that.

The render shows us four color variants of the S8, a dual rear camera setup and a full screen/bezel less Quad HD display without a physical Home button or a visible fingerprint scanner. Both of these are now a part of the display itself. The render also mentions the Exynos 8895/Snapdragon 830 chip inside the device as expected. Even though it's just a concept which isn't probably based on anything concrete, it would be interesting to see if the real Galaxy S8 manages to match up to this. However, I personally don't really care for the colors shown here.

IFA 2015 was held in September this year and the next major event for world's mobile geeks will be the - CES 2016. It will happen in Las Vegas in January, 2016. Many mobile device manufacturers will be showcasing their devices in this expo.

In general Samsung unveils a lot of consumer electronic products during these kind of events, and it will follow the same route during CES 2016 too. The South Korean electronics behemoth has already started sending out invites for the expo. They will organise a press conference at CES 2016 on January 5, 2016 between 14:00 and 14:45 hours. That gives the tech giant good 45 minutes to showcase the products and it is rumoured that some of the devices will be from the Galaxy series.

Right now there is no information on what Samsung has planned to show during the keynote. Although it is highly unlikely that they will unveil S7 in the event, some are speculating the same. The reason behind this is that Samsung usually reveals the S series during this time period. The company might showcase the Galaxy A9, which is supposed to be powered by the Snapdragon 620 chipset, along with some other audio and video devices.

Speculations regarding the Samsung Galaxy S7 has been piling up lately, although the mobile enthusiasts are not expecting to have a look at the smartphone in CES next week in Las Vegas. But it is expected that the S7 would be unveiled on February 21st during the Samsung Unpacked 2016 event in Barcelona. Incidentally this day is just before the kick off of the Mobile World Congress expo. Now it seems that the front panel for the Samsung Galaxy S7 has leaked online.

Looking at the leaked panel, the home button appears to be longer. This is in sync with the leaked images of the Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Plus that depicted a rectangular home button. In addition to this, the panel shows that the sensors, power button and volume rockers will make the right side of the device more attractive. Right now it can't be confirmed that the panel is actually for the Galaxy S7, so take this with a pinch of salt, especially since sensors placed at the top doesn't match with the other previously leaked images.

The Galaxy S7 is supposed to boast a 5.2-inch screen with a 1440 x 2560 QHD display. Backed by 4GB of RAM, the device will also have 32GB/64GB of storage. A 20MP snapper will be made available at the back of the smartphone. It will be powered by the Exynos 8890 SoC in most of the countries except in the US and China. In those two countries, the Snapdragon 820 chipset will be used to power the S7 along with quad-core CPU and the Adreno 530 GPU.

India is the first country to receive the latest security patches for the month of August on the Galaxy S6 Edge and other countries should follow soon. The 63MB download will change your current firmware version to G925IDVS3EPH2 and will a security vulnerability on the device, that Samsung has termed as "critical." If you are thinking that this patches up the QuadRooter vulnerability that we have been hearing so much about, you would be wrong. To the best of our knowledge, QuadRooter only affects Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is powered by the Exynos 7420 SoC. Even if there is a connection, it was not mentioned in the changelog.

There are of course other general improvements in performance and optimizations, and if you want to go into the details, just consult the changelog while installing the update or check the screenshot above. Hopefully, the regular S6 will also be getting the same update, but we are not sure if or when it is coming. In the meanwhile, be wary of shady apps and always check the permission list before allowing the software access to your device.

The SM-N930V has now surfaced on the internet as the smartphone's Geekbench results have just been revealed. In case you didn't know, the N930 is the model number of the upcoming Galaxy Note 7 and the V at the end stands for Verizon, as always. The results reveal a few things, but the most significant and slightly disappointing fact which it unveils is the SoC of the upcoming device. It seems like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will be using the same Qualcomm SD 820 chipset as the Galaxy S7, and NOT the rumoured 821/823 chipset. The device also has just 4GB of RAM, instead of 6GB, which it is largely expected to have on release.

Now, there are two theories about the disappointing CPU and RAM seen here. The first theory suggests that this is just a test unit which is being used to test out the networks on Verizon and the final version will sport the SD 821/823 SoC and 6GB of RAM. The second theory states that there will be both 4GB versions with the Snapdragon 820 processor and 6GB versions with the enhanced processing power. We will just have to wait to find out for sure when the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is released on August 2.

The Galaxy Note 7 is a popular handset and by now, we have a pretty good idea about how it will look and its expected specifications. However, it never hurts to see a few more leaked photos just to get a sneak peak at the smartphone before its release. The dual-Edge display with a possible 5.7/5.8-inch panel can be seen once again in this image, along with the three lens setup required for its iris scanner to work. Both of these features are a first for a Samsung device and from the looks of it, the Note 7 is all set to be the pioneer here.

The only confusion regarding the Note 7 lies in the processor and RAM department. It was rumoured earlier that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will sport the Snapdragon 821 chipset, which is supposed to be about 30% more powerful than even the mighty SD 820. It has almost been confirmed that the Note 7 will also sport 6 gigs of RAM, as is becoming the new norm for 2016 flagships. However, a latest Geekbench score and associated results revealed that the Note 7 on Verizon which was tested on the benchmarking app has only 4GB of RAM and the same SD 820 SoC! We will found what's what soon when it's unveiled on August 2 officially.

Evan Blass from @evleaks has just released a few renders online via Twitter and they show the three colors of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in full flurry. The colors are Black Onyx, Silver Titanium and Blue Coral, as supposedly named by Samsung. However, they have raised some eyebrows as the almost confirmed iris scanner we had seen before in the leaked photo of the Note 7's front panel, is missing here. The three circular lenses necessary for the iris scanner to work (as per a recent patent filed by Samsung) are nowhere to be seen in these alleged press renders of the next Note.

It should be noted that Evan Blass himself had declared that the Note 7 will have the much anticipated iris scanner, yet his own leak counters that theory now. Nonetheless, we can see a slightly curved back over here in this render, as well as an even lesser camera protrusion that seen on the S7. The S-Pen and its placement looks identical to that of the Note 5 and the dual Edge display can be clearly observed. Whether this is indeed the final render that will be seen on August 2 is something that we will find out in about a month's time from now.

In the US, Galaxy S5 with Verizon carrier was very first Samsung smartphone to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop when it came into the US. Unfortunately Verizon rolled back the update and released once again after some time because of some unforeseen issues. Right now Verizon making the claim once again as the first American carrier to roll out the Marshmallow update for the Galaxy Note 5.

The upgrade to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow in the Galaxy Note 5 will move the software version to VRU2BPB2 (build no. MMB29K). This update packages 200+ new emoji Google pushed to its Nexus smartphones when the update was first released before several weeks.Apart from this there will be Google Now On Tap, Doze Mode, detailed battery statistics, configurable permissions, and many more.

Verizon will also roll out some features specifically made for their customers, one out these these is Wi-Fi Calling, which will make you independent of 3G/4G coverage. There is also a YouTube Live Broadcast to keep people updated with what you are doing irrespective of whether you have them in your contact list or not.

Amazon's Appstore won't be there after installing this update. You'll get to exerience Samsung's recently released and improved "squircle" icons and folder designs. To update your smartphone follow the steps given below:
System Settings > System Updates > Check for new system update.

Rumors are circling from reliable sources that the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 will be seen on European shores shortly, but without its younger cousin, the Note Edge+ version. The Note 6 is now expected to be sold in the UK in August, according to an internal UK network operator source who has been privy to the future plans of the network.

This is a change in strategy from the Korean electronics giant which did the opposite in Europe for the Note 5 and S6 edge+ previously. Customers were unhappy about that decision and clearly Samsung were listening.

The sales of the S6 edge+ haven't been stellar according to certain sources. Clearly Samsung is having a rethink about where the edge series is most likely to find success rather than releasing it far and wide. This won't suit consumers who like to be presented with the most options available, but for a company with its seemingly endless handset variations, this kind of adjustment almost seems inevitable.

The Galaxy S7 is expected to arrive near the middle of this year and its 5.5-inch screen size isn't thought to be much smaller than with the Galaxy S7 edge+. This lack of differentiation coupled with the higher price for the edge+ range could well be the reason why sales of the edge+ haven't impressed lately.

T-Mobile has now made it official on Twitter that the just-released Samsung Gear S3 is coming to the carrier. It would be the frontier LTE variant of the smartwatch that will be available from the carrier and not the Gear S3 Classic. Here's the tweet from the company,

"The @SamsungMobileUS Gear S3 frontier is our first LTE connected smartwatch. Look for it to hit stores this fall!"

The Gear S3 is quite a big device with a screen size of 1.3-inches and a diameter of 46mm, especially when compared to its predecessor, the S2. It is undoubtedly, targeted more towards the male customers. When it comes to improvements, the Gear S3 has a much better Always On display with the full gamut of 16 million colors and this time around, you can even see the second hand moving on the AO screen. It also supports voice calls (frontier LTE versions only), MST and NFC based Samsung Pay, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and has an IP68 certification for water resistance.

Both versions of the Samsung Gear S3 can withstand extreme cold and extreme heat, but only the S3 frontier (black only) with rubber bands has LTE/3G connectivity option. The silver colored S3 Classic on the other hand, comes with leather wrist bands. Both the smartwatches are protected by Gorilla Glass SR+ on top.

It was just recently that Samsung decided to sell its entire printing business to HP over a $1 billion+ deal and now it might be looking to do the same with its PC business. If the reports are true, then the most likely buyer would be Lenovo, which has the biggest PC business in the entire world. Although it is still unclear as to how much the deal will cost Lenovo, the estimate is around $850 million, provided that it does go through.

As per the aforementioned report, the Asian giants are having some issues in meeting terms while their respective law firms are engaged in negotiating the deal. Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is representing Lenovo, while Paul Hastings is doing the same for Samsung. Although Samsung has not confirmed this news yet, we are guessing that this could be another one of the company's moves to slim down its business to concentrate where the money is, rather than losing money over ventures that just did not work for them.

It was just yesterday that we brought to you images of a leaked case which provided us with multiple alleged external details of the upcoming Galaxy S8. Take a look at another one today coming in from Ghostek, featuring one of their Atomic Shock resistant cases for the S8. Before we delve into the details, keep in mind that this is just a render and nothing is guaranteed to be right at all.

We can see a single rear camera, which is consistent with all the recent rumors, but the cut-out on the case itself is suspiciously big enough for a dual camera module. No fingerprint scanners on the back and a lacking Home button in front indicates that Samsung is opting for an optical fingerprint sensor which will be placed under the glass. Just like the render by Slashgear had suggested, both the volume keys and the Power button can be seen on the left side.

Do you like what you see? Or do you think it's a complete hogwash? Let us know in the comments section below. In the meanwhile, we will have to wait a little while longer to see what is what as Samsung prepares the S8 for a mid-April launch (or is it going to be a February launch?).

Just when you thought that Samsung was getting out of the rut that the exploding Galaxy Note 7 had dropped the company into last year, they are now facing another predicament which is giving them a lot of bad reputation once again. Lee Jae-yong has recently been detained and questioned in order to find a link in between him and the infamous influence-peddling scandal involving impeached President Park Geun-hye and her friend, Choi Soon-sil. In fact, the South Korean prosecutor's office had gone as far as petitioning for an arrest warrant to incarcerate Samsung's future Chairman.

Fortunately for Samsung, the Seoul Central District Court did not feel that the warrant was necessary and therefore, Jae-yong is still a free man (sort of!). According to the court, since Lee Jae-yong is not allowed to leave South Korea until everything regarding the scandal and its relation to him is settled, imprisonment is an unnecessary step at this point of time. In fact, vice-chairman Lee Jae-yong was let go even from the detention centre, right after the court announced its verdict. Although this is definitely good news for Samsung, things as a whole are looking a little dim for the company and its leaders until this scandalous storm blows over.

The Mobile World Congress is the biggest event of the year when it comes to smartphones, tablets and just about any other mobile consumer products. It's almost upon us as February 27 draws near, but do you know what to expect from the smartphone manufacturers this year at Barcelona? We have a pretty good idea, so here are the most anticipated devices that we could be getting a glimpse of in a few days.

HTC Ocean

If rumors are true, the HTC Ocean will be operated entirely via voice commands, gestures and of course, touch.

LG G6

Although the G6 will probably not be sporting the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 flagship chipset, it is expected to sport the world's first 18:9 ratio borderless display with a resolution of 1440 x 2880 pixels.

Blackberry Mercury

TCL Communications are making the handsets for Blackberry nowadays and this is going to be their third handset after the collaboration. The Mercury will sport the trademark Blackberry keyboard and a fingerprint scanner.

Moto G5 and G5 Plus

The cameras on the Moto G4 Plus were simply the best in the mid-range segment and the G5 and G5 Plus are rumoured to sport even better sensors. We will have to wait and see what other improvements Lenovo brings in with the two new handsets.

There are also the Sony Xperia X, the Nokia P1 and the Huawei P10 that's incoming in a few days and we are pretty excited about them too. Which ones are you looking forward to the most? In case you were looking for the Galaxy S8 on this list, we are sorry to inform you that Samsung has confirmed that the S8 will be withheld from the Mobile World Congress this year.

The Galaxy J7 Prime had started to receive the security patch for the month of February just yesterday and today, the same update is rolling out to the J5 Prime. Both updates feature no major changes or improvements apart from filling in the security gaps in the base Android build.

The updates will bring build version G610FDDU1AQA2 for the Galaxy J7 Prime and G570MUBU1AQA3 for the Galaxy J5 Prime. Both packages will land on your devices via OTA within the next few days.

In other news, the next iterations of these two devices, aka the Galaxy J5 (2017) and the Galaxy J7 (2017) are speculated to be released this March with mid-range specs. If you are interested in the specs of the J7 (2017), check it out here. The J5 (2017) will also have similar specs as the J7 (2017), except for a weaker SD 617 chip and a smaller 5.2-inch 720p display.

Everyone knows that the tablet market has been declining every year for the last few years and the latest report by Strategy Analytics confirms it. Two of the biggest players in the game, Samsung and Apple have lost 0.1% and 2.6% market share respectively, in a YoY comparison between Q4 2015 and Q4 2016. In fact the global tablet shipment irrespective of the brand came down by 9% in the last quarter.

According to the report, Apple had managed to ship 13.1 million iPads in the last quarter, which is a 19% decline in shipment when compared to the 16.1 million iPads it managed to ship in Q4 2015. Samsung suffered a decline of 10% in shipment as the total number of tablets the company managed to ship in Q4 2016 came down to 8.1 million, from 9 million in Q4 2015. As per the report, Samsung occupies the third place in tablet market share with 12.8%, while Apple slips to the number two spot with 20.6%, despite losing a chunk of its hold on the market. If you are wondering who the number one tablet OEM is, it's the "White Box" vendors! Apparently, people have realized that watching YouTube, streaming NetFlix and playing casual games on a tablet is possible without spending 500 dollars on an expensive device.

Benchmark results may not always represent real world performance of a particular chip, but they are almost certainly the most popular competitive platforms for smartphone enthusiasts to test out which phone is in which position in the hierarchy. As things have turned out, we now have test results from a GeekBench run of the Galaxy S8. Before you start wondering about which version was tested, let us assure you that both versions were part of the run!

The Exynos 8895 is at the top with a single-core score of 1,978 and a multi-core score of 6,375. The Samsung chip has once again beaten the Qualcomm flagship chip of 2017, the Snapdragon 835. The SD 835 within the S8+, managed to score 1,929 and 6,084 on single-core and multi-core tests respectively. As you can see, both scores were marginally but prominently lower than the ones scored by the Exynos 8895. The Kirin 960 is also in the second place as it loses out to the SD 835 on the single core with a score of 1898, but beats the Qualcomm SoC in the multi-core test with a score of 6,112. Check the screenshot from reddit for more details.

It was only a few days ago that the Galaxy C7 Pro was launched in India and the device is already receiving the latest April security patch from Samsung in the region. This would be the first official update for the device from Samsung in India and it's a welcome one as it patches up the Android security gaps which pops up every month and subsequently needs to be patched in.

The SMALL package of 35.4 MB will reach all eligible smartphones in the region via OTA and the users whohave not been auto-notified to update their phones yet, should get the [prompt any time now. The build number of the firmware is MMB29M.C701FDDU1AQCA and doesn't seem to be bringing anything other than the SMR update to the Galaxy C7 Pro. We don't have any information about the Chinese variant receiving the same yet, but it is definitely a possibility.

Samsung promised a lot of things regarding Bixby during the launch event of the Galaxy S8 back in March. However, it disappointed fans across the world when Bixby was released with minimal features which did not even include basic voice commands that every other AI powered smartphone assistant has at this point of time. It only included Bixby Vision and a few other features like Bixby Home and Reminder; all of which has potential but feels incomplete nonetheless. That situation is about to change though as Samsung is now rolling out an update which will enable voice functionalities on Bixby. Currently, it is only going live in South Korea, but I am pretty sure the international rollouts should start within the next few days.

Now that voice command on the S8 is finally a possibility with Bixby, we will have to wait and see if it's actually good enough to do "everything" like Samsung claimed it would be during the launch event, or if it was just a gimmick. In any case, life is going to be hard for Bixby in the nations where Google Assistant is available for use. With its superior set of features, vast experience and the magic that is Google, the Assistant might prove too tough to compete with for Bixby; especially since the S8 also has it right out of the box!

@OnLeaks and 91Moiiles have collaborated in bringing this Galaxy Note 8 leak to you, which looks significantly different from what one would expect the Galaxy Note 8 to look like when it's actually launched in August. In fact, these renders are even quite different from what the previous leaks had shown us as well. Whether or not that's good news, it is for you to decide. While there's no confirmation that these leaks are authentic, OnLeaks and 91Mobiles are without a doubt, pretty reliable leaksters.

If you have not yet figured out what I am rambling about, then let me point it out to you; it's the top bezel. The design of the render shows the Galaxy Note 8 to sport a significantly bigger bezel on top than the Galaxy Note 8. It sounds almost unbelievable that Samsung would move away from the S8's bezel-less design which earned them so much praise this year. In fact, it suspiciously resembles the Galaxy Note 7 in many ways. Other design elements are more or less what's to be expected. There's the dual camera, with an awkwardly placed fingerprint scanner right beside the camera module, the 3.5mm headphone jack, the USB Type-C port, the mono speaker outlet, the front camera, the iris scanner, the heart rate sensor and the other usual stuff.

It has now been about a week since Samsung first started to roll out the Android security updates for some of its smartphones and now it's time for the Galaxy Note 8 to receive the same OTA package. One would think that being the company's latest flagship handset, it would get the update sooner than the other handsets, but they would be wrong. Although some carriers (including T-Mobile) did already start to ship the update out to the Note 8 in the US, this one is rolling out in China (SM-N9508) and Hong Kong (SM-N9500).

Check out the following to get an idea of what's to expect with the OTA security package of the month.

·         Patches for 61 Common Vulnerabilities in the Android OS

·         Patches for 6 of Samsung's own UI vulnerabilities

·         Security patch against the Krack Attack Wi-Fi vulnerability

If you own a Galaxy Note 8 in China, you should be prompted to download and install firmware version N9508ZMU2BQK1 any time now. If you are in Hong Kong with your Note 8, firmware version N9500ZHU2BQK1 should be making rounds any minute now.

While the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are still more than a month away from being revealed at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month, it must be admitted that by this time last year, we were already seeing a lot of leaked S8/S8+ images. Nevertheless, we have the second best thing for you and that's... err... a leaked image of the official Galaxy S9 box. It may sound a little disappointing at first, but the image does reveal some interesting and exciting new details.

Aside from confirming some of the previously rumored details, the highlight of this leak are the camera details, which are as follows.

Super Speed Dual Pixel 12MP OIS (F1.5/F2.4)

Super Slow-mo

8MP AF Selfie Cam

Stereo Speaker Tuned by AKG

IP68 Water and Dust Resistant

64GB Memory/4GB RAM

Wireless Charging

Earphones Tuned by AKG

Personally, I really hope this leak is true because of a different reason; if this is indeed an authentic image of the upcoming Galaxy S9's box, then it means that Samsung has not taken the Apple route and both the S9 and the S9+ will have the same set of dual cameras.

Some reports are indicating that the Galaxy Note 9 might be released earlier than expected, but can you guess the proposed reason for that assumption? Well, apparently the Galaxy S9 and S9+ have not been as big a hit as Samsung expected the two of their latest flagship smartphones to be and this decision regarding the Note 9's expected early release has been presumably taken in accordance with the somewhat disappointing sales numbers. The report comes in out of South Korea, so there might be some credence to it, although, we are not totally sure at this moment.

Whether or not this is true is something that cannot be ascertained as of now, but there's no denying that a lot of the S8 owners don't feel the need to upgrade this year and that's understandable, given that the S9 and the S9+ look almost identical to their predecessors from the front. This report is backed up by two facts, with the first being that Samsung is about to start manufacturing the 6.38-inch AMOLED displays for the Note 9 in April, which is two months earlier than when they usually start the display production for their next Note phablet. Secondly, the Note 9's Android Oreo 8.1 powered firmware is also in development, which is also much earlier than their usual schedule. What do you think?

If being repetitive is a sin than Samsung had been guilty of it for a long time, before the Galaxy S8 changed things up radically.  Make no mistake, the company was always on top of their game when it came to Android smartphones, but it was the Galaxy S8 that seriously revolutionized their design choices, albeit by sacrificing the fingerprint scanner's easy reachability!

Although Samsung fixed that in the S9 and made everything better in subtle ways, the truth is that it felt somewhat repetitive nonetheless. Most people who already have a Galaxy S8 did not feel the urge to upgrade, as shown my surveys because the S9 and S9+ look identical to their predecessors with minor, visible changes. The S9 was an improved version of the S8 and that's how it is being seen till date. Unfortunately, that is a tend which will likely continue in 2018 for Samsung as the Note 9 renders here look a bit too much like the Note 8 from last year and while I am 100% sure that the smartphone will outclass its predecessor in every way, it still looks almost identical! What do you think? Let us know in the comments.

All renders we are seeing here were made possible, thanks to the efforts of the brilliant team at CGTraders.

We now know that the Galaxy Note 9 will be unveiled at a Samsung Unpacked event in New York on the 9th of August, which makes it the perfect time for the company to be releasing a video teaser and Samsung did just that.

You can see the video for yourself on top, so we are skipping the part where I go through every scene in the 30-second clip! However, what was made obvious with the teaser is the fact that the Galaxy Note 9 will sport better life. Whether that improvement in battery performance will come in the form of better battery management or a significantly bigger battery is something that we will just have to wait and find out. Hopefully, it will be a combination of both, without any of the fiery issues which accompanied the infamous Galaxy Note 7 back in 2016! In any case, I could definitely use a bigger battery, since my S8 now needs to be charged twice a day, everyday after just a year.

Google's Nexus 5X smartphone is now available for pre-order across Europe. All you have to do is to head to Google Play and place your order.

In some countries, like Spain, Italy, Germany, and France - are getting a free Chromecast with the purchase of the handset until December 8th, which should partly make up for not including the $50 Play Store credit or the 90-day Play Music subscription that come with orders in the US.

As expected, the prices for the 16GB and 32 GB models are €479 and €529, respectively. Orders begin shipping by November 9th and come with free 3-4 business day shipping, so they'll be in customers' hands before the end of next week.

The Google Pixel and Pixel XL are all set to launch around the world in October, but thanks to VentureBeat, what we have for you today are alleged renders of the two smartphones, ahead of time. What you see above is the smaller Pixel, with 5-inch Full HD display, 4GB of RAM, possibly a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (2GHz clock speed) processor, 32GB of internal storage and a 2,770mAh battery to power it all. There will also be a 12-megapixel rear snapper, an 8-megapixel selfie cam, USB Type-C, fingerprint scanner at the back and maybe even a 3.5mm headphone jack if we are lucky!

The Pixel XL pictured above will almost be identical to its smaller brother, except a bigger, better display and battery. The display on it will supposedly sport a 1440p Quad High Definition panel stretched over 5.5-inches. The battery is also significantly bigger at 3,450mAh in order to power that large QHD display. The two smartphones from Google are rumoured to be more expensive than any of the previous smartphones from the brand with a price tag that starts at $649. Both smartphones are being manufactured by HTC, under the Google Pixel branding.

A hint about Google's future plans was given a while back when the search engine giant introduced the Destination feature via Google Search on smartphones. The simplistic feature was designed to help users while planning a vacation and apparently it was only a precursor to the Smart Travel application that the company is beta testing right now. Since it is not available on the Play Store yet, users will have to sign up for the Google Maps Local Guides Program to have access to it.

From what we know so far, the app will gather, store and organize all your travelling details such as hotels, dinner reservations, destinations and flights. Therefore, it will make every necessary detail accessible from the app itself, even without an active internet connection. Additionally, it will also offer suggestions based on the data it collects about your trips. Tap on a previously saved destination to see options like Saved places, Food & drink, Reservations, Things to do, Getting around and Need to know. Travellers and tourists will even see options for public transport in the area, as well as best travelling routes to the destination.

Even if you do not put in your travelling details manually from the FAB tab found at the bottom right corner of the app, it can do a lot on its own by collecting data automatically from your Gmail inbox. If you are not using Gmail as your primary e-mail service however, you will probably need to log in the data manually. In case you are interested in trying out the beta software, sign up for Local Guides and you might just get a chance to be a beta tester yourself!

After a series of leaked images and renders, we already have a pretty good idea about how the two upcoming Nexus phones from HTC will look like, but price tags had remained undisclosed till now. Someone in HTC has allegedly leaked pricing details of the Nexus Marlin and Sailfish, but as you probably can guess already, it's still a rumor and nothing is for certain yet.

According to the source, the two smartphones from Google in 2016 will be more expensive than last year's models with a price tag of $599 for the Nexus Marlin and $449 for the Nexus Sailfish. These are of course, the price tags for the basic 32GB models and there will likely also be costlier models with higher internal storage capacities. The Marlin will cost $100 more than last year's Nexus 6P ($499), if the rumor turns out to be true. We will soon find out more next month as the two HTC-Google Nexus smartphones are probably going to debut in September with Android 7 Nougat right out of the box.

Android Studio

After two years of development, Today, Google officially released Android Studio 1.0, the first stable version of its Integrated Development Environment (IDE) aimed at Android developers. You can download it right now for Windows, Mac, and Linux from the Android Developer site.

Google first announced Android Studio, built on the popular IntelliJ IDEA Java IDE, at its I/O Developer conference in May 2013. The company's pitch was very simple: This is the official Android IDE.

android studio 1.5

Given that Android Studio is only hitting 1.0 now, all the features are "new" to some extent. But Google does have specific features it wants to highlight.

First off, we have the First Run Setup Wizard, which was amusingly absent from a few of the release candidate builds. This "getting started" wizard now installs the Android SDK you need, sets up your development environment settings, creates an optimized emulator for testing your app, and bundles a set of code templates.

Now that Android Nougat is finally here for Nexus devices, we have a few cool but hidden features that for you to try out on the new OS if you have not already.

1. Turning on the System UI Tuner - On the Quick Settings menu, long press the Settings icon until it starts to spin and when it does, System UI Tuner is enabled. The experimental features in this section include Power Notification controls for restricting or allowing app notifications on a finer level. You can remove the entire Quick Settings panel altogether from the drop down menu as well.

2. Multi-Window Compatibility - Go to Settings > About > Software information and then touch the Build Number seven times and do it fast. Developer Options should now be enabled. Go back to the Settings menu and find the Developer Options. Turn on Force activities to be resizable, and you should now able to open any app on your phone in the multi-window mode, even if they were not compatible with it before.

3. Block spam calls - Go to your phone's Dial app and go to Settings > Call Blocking from the menu. Turn on Caller ID & Spam and also enter any number you wish to block manually. You should now be fairly protected from unwanted callers or spammers.
