LGEships 100 million handsets in 2008, ranking third wordwide

LG Electronics (LGE) shipped over 100 million handsets in 2008, surpassing the amounts shipped by Motorola and Sony Ericsson, respectively, to capture, for the first time, third place in the global handset market, the South Korea-based JoongAng Daily quoted sources at LGE as indicating.

Motorola managed to ship 99.9 million handsets, while Sony Ericsson's 2008 ended with 96.6 million devices sold.
