The Menlo phone was originally discovered by Mary Jo Foley with ZDNET, and is quoted to be a "prototype mobile device with a capacitive touch screen (4.1 in diagonal, 800 x 480) running Microsoft Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R2 which incorporates a Bosch BMA150 3-axis accelerometer and Bosch BMP085 digital pressure sensor (barometer)." Microsoft introduce activity-based navigation, which uses human activities derived from sensor data to help people navigate, in particular to retrace a trail‖ previously taken by that person or another person. Such trails may include step counts, walking up/down stairs or taking elevators, compass directions, and photos taken along a user‘s path, in addition to absolute positioning (GPS and maps) when available. To explore the user experience of activity-based navigation, we built Greenfield, a mobile device interface for finding a car. We conducted a ten participant user study comparing users‘ ability to find cars across three different presentations of activity-based information as well as verbal instructions. Our results show that activity-based navigation can be used for car finding and suggest its promise more generally for supporting navigation tasks. We present lessons for future activity-based navigation interfaces, and motivate further work in this space, particularly in the area of robust activity inference.

As We All waiting for the New mobile OS from Microsoft the Well-known Window Mobile... But of course Microsoft has changed its Name begging of 2009 to (Windows Phone) instead of (Windows Mobile). Latest Edition of Windows Phone was the 6.5 but Now we gonna show you the Windows Phone 7 Review on many prototype devices. Windows Phone 7 has Many Features and we gonna talk about all this Features.

w7 UI

User interface

The completely new user interface, named "Metro", looks very similar to that of the Zune HD. The home screen (called the "Start screen") is made up of "tiles", which by default are links to important features, such as phone, music and videos, email, office, and contacts. The User can customize the tiles, delete them, or add their own - by pinning an application (or "experience"), media item, favorite contact, or almost anything to the Start screen, it becomes a tile.[13] Tiles are dynamic and update in real time. Tile contents are organized via "hubs" which combine both local and online content. Windows Phone 7 will have a more friendly touchscreen UI than previous Windows Mobile devices by using multitouch technology. Integration with popular social networks, such as Twitter,Facebook, and Windows Live will be included. Windows Phone 7 also features integration with Xbox Live, Zune, and Bing services. Windows Phone 7 user interface has also been heavily optimized to be used with OLED screens.

Browser

Andy Lees, Microsoft's senior vice president of mobile communications, confirmed in an interview that the version of Internet Explorer Mobile on Windows Phone 7 would not support Adobe Flash at launch, citing "performance reasons." Later, Adobe Systems released a statement to clarify, saying "developing Flash for Windows Phone 7 (and Adobe Systems) has been deeply involved with Microsoft.". Since then, Adobe has announced that Flash 10.1 will be released for Windows Phone 7 within months after launch. He also stated that the browser is "halfway between IE7 and IE8 rendering engine." Its web browser will be a modified version of Internet Explorer 7, rather than being based on the current IE8.In addition, Microsoft's Silverlight technology will not work from within the Internet Explorer web browser.
Microsoft plans to regularly update IE Mobile independently from the "Windows Phone Update" system, meaning the browser will be able to automatically update itself and the layout engine.

Search

Microsoft's hardware requirements stipulate that every handset must have a dedicated hardwired 'Bing Button' on the front panel.Bing will be the only default search engine on Windows Phone 7 handsets. Though users cannot change the default to a different search engine, Microsoft said it would allow other search companies to build an app for Windows Phone 7 if they wished.WP7 can also search Bing by voice using the TellME, this can be activated by clicking and holding the Windows Button. There is no global search in Windows Phone 7.
