Nokia haven't exactly been burning it hot recently, what with poorly received smartphones over the past year or so, losing the number one position in Western Europe; constant rumours about their CEO stepping down; fan sites closing down because of a loss of faith in the company, and a general malaise, especially centred on their smartphone range. With all of that going on many Nokia fans probably want some answers from those running the company. Well today you might just get your chance as Niklas Savander, the new head of sales and merketing at Nokia, will be answering questions via Twitter. The action will be taking place later today between 6-7 pm GMT. You can fire off your questions to Niklas' Twitter channel @NiklasatNokia and you may even get a reply! The statement from Nokia on this little exercise is as follows:
"... tomorrow 5 August between 6-7pm GMT (10-11am PDT, 1-2pm EDT) Niklas is inviting you to spend an hour answering your questions and feedback on his Twitter channel @NiklasatNokia."
Internet dating services are pretty much everywhere these days, but they can be somewhat inconvenient from a geographic standpoint. Now there's MeetMoi NOW, an Android application designed to help you find people based on location, rather then just pictures and compatibility surveys.
After downloading the app, you simply enter some basic information about your hobbies and interests, and then your phone tracks your location. Once two people with the same interests are within a mile of each other, the application notifies both users, and they can then decide rather or not to meet face to face. The app is a free download via the Android Market, however MeetMoi offers both a basic and a premium service. Currently the app is only available on Android, however additional mobile platforms are expected to be available in the coming weeks.
Here is the Press Release:
NEW YORK, NY — August 3, 2010 — MeetMoi, the leading location-based mobile dating company, today announced the launch of MeetMoi NOW, an application for AndroidTM devices. MeetMoi NOW is a free application introducing proximity-based matching, which takes advantage of the background processing capabilities of Android. The service is designed to find people dates, even when their phones are in their purses and pockets.
“There is a huge opportunity to change the paradigm of online dating from services where people spend the majority of their time searching for profiles, to a service that delivers profiles to users’ phones based on their real-time location,” said Andrew Weinreich, CEO of MeetMoi.
Once downloaded from the Android MarketTM, new members provide MeetMoi NOW with basic information about their interests in just a few steps, and then let MeetMoi’s technology do all the work. Whenever two users with matching preferences are within a mile of one another, MeetMoi NOW notifies them both, allowing them to begin a conversation. To encourage face-to-face meetings when people are near one another, connections made through the service expire after 60 minutes.
“MeetMoi NOW is a dating app for people with a genuine interest in meeting in-person, not just online chatting and flirting,” said Alex Harrington, President of MeetMoi. “Our goal is to make it fun, easy and effortless to meet people when you are out and about.”
MeetMoi has offered internet-based mobile dating services since its commercial launch in 2008, with both a free and premium subscription experience. The initial launch of the app, available today, is in beta; MeetMoi expects to add premium features in a future release. Additional mobile platforms, including iPhone, will be supported in the coming weeks.
We Have seen the MeeGo UI caught on video several times, but a new videos shows off what could be Nokia's take on the platform. It features smooth looking support for social networking, the MeeGo section of the Ovi Store and the music player.
It looks better than earlier builds though Intel’s AppUp store seemed to be easier to browse and offers more info at a glance in the app details page. Anyway, Hope you like the New MeeGo UI.
The whole social networking thing (especially Facebook) looks very tightly integrated with the MeeGo OS. The music player looks pretty good too and there will be FM radio support.

Nokia N8 is coming soon. Apparently, the phone will start selling at the end of August in the UK and maybe even sooner in Spain. In the meantime, the Samsung Galaxy S is getting a white paint job.
Who saw that coming? A white color version of the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S! And you thought that a Froyo update would be the only intriguing news involving the Galaxy S that could surface? You'd better think twice. We've just noticed the image of the upcoming device on the website of the Spanish chain store The Phone House.
Unfortunately, the photo is too small to get any impression of the phone but according to the company, the device should start selling soon so it is only a matter of time for larger images to start surfacing.
Right next to the white Samsung Galaxy S we found the Nokia N8 (priced at 499 euro, ouch!) which, just like the I9000, will start shipping soon. The last time we heard of the N8 was when it appeared on the Italian website of Nokia. It informed us that the device is about to head for the stores sometime by the end of September but as it turns out now we may see it way sooner.
So that was the Nokia C7-00 after all. It took half a dozen of leaks but the identity of the leaked Nokia prototype is finally confirmed. And what's even better, most of its specs got confirmed too so we know what to expect.
Nokia C7-00 will run on the latest Symbian^3 operating system and, as previously rumored, will pack an 8 megapixel autofocus camera. Its capacitive touchscreen will stretch over 3.3 inches and will feature the usual for Symbian handsets nHD resolution. There is also support for multi-touch gestures mentioned.
The leaked Nokia C7-00 ad also confirms a microUSB port, a 3.5mm audio jack and 720p video recording. 3G radio and microSD card slot for memory expansion are also present inside the slim 11mm body of the handset. It all adds up to a trimmed-down version of the Nokia N8, which should provide a nice Symbian^3 alternative to the mass-market.
With the press materials all ready to go, we suspect that the Nokia C7-00 announcement can't be far away now. Its release will probably come after N8 hits the shelves so Q4 sounds like a realistic release schedule.
Nokia S40 devices have been coming preloaded with Opera Mini for a long while, but this might be coming to an end. Nokia Beta Labs have introduced the Ovi Browser for S40, which takes the same approach to browsing as Opera Mini does.
The browser is still in beta and Ovi Browser uses custom servers to open a page, compresses it and send the compressed version to your phone. Just like Opera Mini does.
If fact, at this point Ovi Browser looks very, very similar to Opera Mini 4.2 though Beta Labs didn't say if they've used Opera code and servers. The Ovi Browser beta lacks some features, but developers are working on adding new ones for the next beta so, we don't know what exactly will be included and what will be left out of the final version.

The first Symbian^3 powered device, Nokia N8, was first said to start selling in August but it seems that the phone has actually been pushed back a month. But the good news is if you happen to live in Italy and want to be among the first owners of the smartphone, you can pre-order it right away.
To refresh your memory, Nokia N8 isn't only the first Symbian^3 running smartphone but also the only (so far) Nokia device to come with a (pretty good) 12-megapixel snapper on board. On top of that it also features an anodized aluminum casing, a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen as well as a 680MHz processor, HDMI port and a video player with DivX/XviD support.
The N8 was said to start shipping on 24 August but, apparently, the device needs some extra touches and will arrive by the end of September 2010. If you want to pre-order it, just follow that link. It only takes a few clicks and 469 euro.
The price is a bit higher than the 370 euro Nokia talked about at the announcement event (it adds up to 444 euro when VAT is included). But there is some predictions that the Price will go down!
We have just got some News that Nokia is now getting a New Community project by Nokia developers for making a New Mobile phone from the Nseries Family but that can Take Nokia to the top Again. The New Phone will have a Full QWERTY Keyboard and 8MP camera with Dual-LED flash, a 4.0 TFT Capacitive touch screen and with Symbian^4 on it. All that beside the Default Features as Bluetooth 3.0 + EDR, WiFi 802.11b/g, A-GPS, FM Radio, USB-on the-GO and Many Other Features that will make this phone in the top for All People who looking for High-Performance Full-option Mobile Phones. But we don’t have any confirmation about the CPU or RAM of this Device but I thought it will have 512MB RAM, 256MB ROM and an ARM-Snapdragon 1GHZ processors.

Three of Nokia's latest messaging phones – Nokia C3, Nokia C6 and Nokia E5 – are coming soon to the US, as they've appeared at the Nokia US online store.
The handsets are featured on the pre-order webpage, although none of them can be pre-ordered at the moment.
Unsurprisingly, the cheapest of them is the S40 Nokia C3, which will be sold for only $129. The Nokia E5 is $259, while the C6 will be more expensive: $309. All phones come unlocked.
Nokia doesn’t say when exactly the handsets will be available for purchase, but it shouldn’t take long now. So, anyone over in the US willing to buy any of these QWERTY-equipped Nokias?
