Sony Ericsson

Sony is indeed taking full control of Sony Ericsson. With this acquisition Sony will not be just the sole owner, but will also take ownership of five wireless technology patent families.

Sony and Ericsson have also entered into a cross-licensing agreement for a broad intellectual property, but there is nothing more beyond that. Ericsson will receive €1.05 billion as part of the deal.

Sony

Sony is reportedly ready to buy out Ericsson in the Sony Ericsson joint venture and will take a stronger role in controlling its mobile future, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Sony Ericsson was created in 2001 as a 50-50 joint venture between Sony and the infrastructure giant Ericsson and it has had some moderate success, particularly in the feature phone department with its cool Walkman series. The company has been very slow to adjust to the smartphone world though, as even its CEO has said it should have taken the iPhone more seriously.

The buyout would give Sony full control of the mobile phone company, including the mobile patent portfolio and the move could cost up to $1.7 billion. The move would allow Sony to really dive into the fast-growing smartphone space with all of its efforts and it would allow the company to have a complete ecosystem.

Sony Ericsson Nozomi

We already encountered with the Nozomi rumors twice and we are kind of familiar with its awesome specs a 4.3-inch 720p screen, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 12 megapixel camera and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Today another leak sheds more light on the Nozomi, but also reveals another device called Aoba.

The two devices popped up into the Android Nenamark database. It seems someone has tested the two gadgets and uploaded the results online. The info from the database once again confirms the Nozomi HD screen, the dual-core 1.5GHz processor but also tells us the GPU Adreno 220 and the Android version inside 2.3.5 Gingerbread.

We hear Aoba for the first time, but it has exactly the same specs as Nozomi an HD display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, Adreno 220 graphics and currently Android 2.3.5 is ticking inside.

Xperia lay

The Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY owners are in for a real treat as Sony has just announced that Xperia play will be getting four top titles for free. The four popular EA games that you can get if you happen to own an Xperia PLAY are Dead Space, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Need for Speed Shift and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit.

Thats a first-person shooter, a third person shooter and a couple of racing games, all of the highest quality. To get them you just head to the Game Launcher and start with the downloading. Needless to say, you will be better if you use a Wi-Fi network for that.
